Bristol Palin and DWTS results

No doubt, we have all made mistakes and probably ruined a show or outcome for someone on here. It's not so much that she did that, it's her whole attitude about it.

She didn't bother to changer the title, or ask how to do that. Instead, the only response she gives is a smartaleck comeback to a poster who was upset about having the outcome ruined for her and her daughter. No apology, no bad feelings, nothing. Just an ugly attitude.
Again, fair enough... OP may have been on here a long time, yet doesn't post much... it's easy, early on in posting to get defensive. And again, I totally see your point on the lack of change.

:headache: Okay, that's just ridiculous!

Bristol has been the "choice" for Vote for the Worst" website for weeks now.

It's all a conspiracy.

Like I said last week, just give the mirrored ball to Bristol already. :sad2:

DWTS is a fun show where people get to vote for their favorites, for whatever reason they choose. There are people who are voting for Jennifer because they love how she dances, and there are people voting for her because they loved Patrick Swayze and Dirty Dancing. People may have voted for Brandy because they thought she was a great dancer, and some may have voted for her because they thought she was pretty and liked her singing. Kyle may have gotten many votes because his fans from his Disney show were voting for him, some may be voting for him because he seems so happy and friendly, and some are voting for him because they think he has shown much improvement.

Is it Bristol's fault that she has many people voting for her for whatever reason they choose? I, personally, think Kyle's technique is sloppy, but he is a joy to watch. I think Jennifer is a whiny crybaby, and no matter how great she dances I refuse to vote for her because I am disgusted that Derek always gets the people with the most potential. Brandy I couldn't have cared less about. There was something about her that irked me. As far as Bristol goes, I am thrilled that she's made it this far. I wish all the contestants started out with the same level of dancing experience. That would be a fair show. Until the show's matra changes, "vote for who you want to see come back next week", I really don't get what all the crying is about. Just like American Idol, where the best singer doesn't always win, on DWTS, the best dancer may not always win.

very well said and I totally agree:thumbsup2

Now, THIS guy was really upset:

Upset by Bristol's 'Dancing' luck, man shoots TV

Ree Hines writes:Viewers shocked and frustrated by Bristol Palin's inexplicable dance floor success (and there are plenty of you out there) have nothing on one disgruntled “Dancing With the Stars” fan.

Steven N. Cowan of Town of Vermont, Wis., was seemingly unable to confine his ballroom rage to the usual online comment or water cooler rant and instead, chose to shoot his television for daring to air the offending footage of Palin at all.

According to documents posted to The Smoking Gun, Cowan’s gun-toting drama began during Monday night’s semifinals performance show. Yes, that means the man is said to have shot the set before Palin went on to beat out Brandy for a spot in the finals. Good thing he was in police custody by then.

“(Cowan’s wife) Janice reported that she was on the couch in the living room, watching television,” a criminal complaint read. “The ‘Dancing With the Stars’ show came on a 7:00 p.m. Janice estimated that at approximately 7:30 p.m., Sarah Palin’s daughter was dancing. Steven jumped up and swore, saying something to the effect of, 'The f---ing politics.' Steven was upset that a political figure’s daughter was dancing on this particular show when Steven did not think she was a good dancer.”

Cowan is hardly alone in that sentiment, but the following actions set him apart from the crowd. After disappearing upstairs for some time, he returned with a single-shot shotgun and allegedly fired a round into the TV screen.

Cowan’s wife told police, “He scared the Bejebees out of me.”

No doubt.

The man, said to suffer from a mental health condition, went on to threaten to kill himself and now faces disorderly conduct and weapons charges after a standoff with police.

I think what throws people off is that the show isn't even sure what it wants to be. If it is simply about who the voters like than just leave it at that. However, by having the 3 dancing judges go and critique each dance as if it were being done in a professional competition, then the creators are sending the message that it is about who is dancing the best.

Until they figure out a way to correctly identify what they, the producers, are looking for, then people will continue to have these debates. However I have a feeling that all they care about is their sponsors and viewers.

If this were a 'professional' competition, then the competitors dancing would all be on the same level which is hardly the case with DWTS.
Yes, your last statement is correct. The show is a business like any other. It is all about viewers and sponsors that bring in revenue.

I feel bad for Brandy. She is clearly the better dancer and got ripped off due to other people's agendas that have nothing to do with the show (vote for the worst, tea partyers, etc). Brandy wasn't my favorite to win, but deserves to be in the top 2/3!

Bristol also HAS to known she isn't still there for the right reasons. If I were an honest person, this would make me feel bad - that I couldn't have earned it on my own.

The judges know it too - which is why they made an immediate point of asking Brandy back to do her free style!

:sad2:

Bristol IS there for the right reasons. She was voted for by the people who want her to stay on the show to dance for another week, as DWTS TELLS you to do. Plain & simple. I don't think Jennifer should be there, she has too much dancing ability to start. I don't think Derek Hough should be on the show anymore. I'm sick of seeing him get the best dancers. I don't think Steve Wozniak should have been on the show. He is so clearly not a "star". The point is, you vote for who you want to see dance, period. DWTS went to Bristol, she did not call them. The judges don't have a gun held to their heads when scoring Bristol. If they thought she was horrible, then they should have scored her accordingly so that darling Brandy or Jennifer would win. Even with that though, apparently the public vote is enormous for Bristol. Good for her!

NOT if people choose to vote for the wrong reasons - I think we are seeing that they did. She is clearly there for the wrong reasons all around - and I think she knows it by her face last night!! Not gonna argue it...to each their own.

Wait....Steve Wozniak isn't a "star" and Bristol Palin is? Really? :rotfl:

Bristol Palin might be famous (or probably infamous is a better word), but she is not a star.

Steve Wozniak is at least famous for doing something of significance. Being famous because your mom is a politician or because you got knocked up as a teen isn't that significant.

I completely agree, especially with the bolded. :thumbsup2

comparing Wozniak to Bristol is such a joke! She has accomplished nothing - especially nothing to be particularly proud of!

ETA: another thing I have noticed: most everyone else loses weight busting their but on this show. Yet, Bristol seems to be looking even heavier with each show recently. What is up with that?

I agree with your statement. I'm not a big fan of Kate Gosselin, at all, but I remember her saying things like this when she overstayed her welcome on DWTS. Even though she really wanted to win, she made some comments about how she almost felt embarrassed about some of the dancers going home before she did. I thought that was nice of her to say.

Bristol, however, seems oblivious to the actual reasons she's still there.

No she said on the show tonight that she should be in the finals because she's the only one without any performance experience, she's normal and she's gotten this far. She's too stupid to know why people are voting for her. I read an article that said her mother was obsessed with Bristol winning DWTS.

Did you really just call someone stupid?

There are a lot of people who feel differently than the opinions here, thats we live in America.:thumbsup2

I agree. How fair is it for the lady who was on Dirty Dancing to compete? And if i have to hear her whine or cry one more time i may lose it. Suck it up or keep moving.

I've said this about "American Idol" -- I don't believe the contestants are put through because of audience "voting" (or actual talent for that matter). I believe the producers stack the deck based on who will give them the best ratings.

Isn't November sweeps month?

I am not sure how oblivious she is, but they wil certainly act oblivious for the week to come!:lmao:

I agree. I don't follow Kate and don't agree with the show. However, she was at least real and honest in making those comments!:)

A few years ago, on another message board, someone posted the rules for American Idol, along with the fine print at the end of the show. In those rules there was a line that said something to the effect that advancement in the competition was at the sole discretion of the producers. I then realized that everything, as I had feared, was in the hands of those looking to extract as much drama as possible from the show.

And, yes, November is sweeps.

I agree. I just can't see myself getting worked up over a reality show. It's simply entertainment, not life altering.

I do feel a little sorry for Bristol. Some people seem to think that it is unfair because they feel she is not as accomplished as the other dancers. However, it also can be considered unfair that she has to compete with people that are professional entertainers and have performing experience. I like all the dancers, but realize that Bristol has come further than the others still remaining since she started with no stage experience. Perhaps voters are taking that into consideration.

I will watch the final show Monday and don't care who wins. I think they are all deserving in their own way.

Thats seems a bit harsh don't you think? I mean really, she's a young adult who made some mistakes. I guess some people aren't as perfect, or mature as others :rolleyes1
