Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

Diane,

I'm not doing anything special to stop the wrinkles. Except ironing! I needed to pack something or else I'll stress out too much the night before. I wish I could pack our summer clothes we are wearing now... oh well.

Deb

On both our previous cruises I have sent out all the wrinkled=cotton shirts and a few of my things to be pressed and spent less than $20.00 to have everything wrinkle free. If I remember correctly, it's around $1.00 an item, sure beats ironing ::yes::

Does anyone know about air regulations and knitting needles? I probably can't bring it on my carry on, but can I pack them in my suitcase and be okay? I can always post on the main board also.

Packed our games last night. I know nobody was interested in playing games, but if you see us playing Pinochle and would like to join, please say so! I just learned how and a little obsessed by the game now.

See you all soon!

Deb

Deb - I must have missed you asking about games. We are a big game family, I am bringing at least one game, Rummikub (basically Gin Rummy using tiles) and will probably bring a Backgammon board for my mom and I to play. Haven't played Pinochle in years but remember it was fun.

Michelle

DH's Aunt & Grandma (92!) want to play Scrabble on the ship. Does anyone know if that is available among the games they have in the Promenade Lounge or elsewhere?

Hey Michelle,

It was posted on the newsletter and I only got one response :(

We love to play Rummikub. I was thinking about packing it also. Now I won't have to :) We can help refresh your memory on Pinochle. Like I said, I just learned the game. You and your mom can be on a team..does she know how to play?

We're in room number 2508. Make sure to give us a ring on the board and we'll set up a time to play! How exciting!

Nancy,

I think years ago I saw Scrabble. I don't know if they have it now. DH would love to join your Aunt and Grandma to play. If they want a third, give us a ring :)

Deb

Two more things to mark off the list:

1. Sea Bands
2. Documents!!!!!! Hooray!!!!!!!!They came just now.

Does anyone know what time the port terminal opens?

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. As I was typing this we got our DOCS!!

Woo hoo!!!! Happy for you Sandy! The port terminal opens at 10.

And where are mine? Donna, I think ours might have been hijacked perhaps we should call the FBI? :hyper2:

Michelle

We are big game people. I packed Five Crowns and cards for Hand and Foot. Does anyone know how to play those? I haven't played Rummikub in years, but would be willing to beat you at it! ;)

Wow it's been years for rummikub for me as well.

Well DH and DD are off to WDW to trade the van for CP DD's car so she can pack all the junk she's acquired in 9 months in fla. I will do a trail pack on Sunday. Hoping to keep it down to three suitcases :rotfl2:

Lauren,

We know how to play hand and foot. We actually call it Canasta. We would love to play. I packed 5 deck of cards in case we found someone who knew how to play.

How are we all going to get together for games? I wouldn't mind heading it up.

Is there anyone who likes to knit?

Deb

Congratulations on the docs Marsha and Sandy! :cool1:
Donna and Michelle - that's not nice they are making you wait :sad2:
Diane

Deb & Lauren - I have never heard Canasta called Hand & Foot before but we are Canasta players as well. Long game though don't know that I would want to start one unless I knew I had an uninterupted period of time!

Deb - We are headed to Sacramento the weekend before the cruise for my niece's wedding. Just what I need when I should be packing! She is getting married at some wedding gardens (I can't remember the name) near Roseville and the reception is somewhere around there too. My BIL & SIL live in Gold River and I was actually born in Sacramento.

Deb- I am in 8076. I am also in charge of the Yellow team, and will be at another meet. I will be more then happy to play any games as will my 11 yr. old DD. She is REALLY good at all games. We are wearing our REPO THAT shirts the first day. I think that there will be a ton of down time on a 14 day cruise. There will be for us anyway, beacause first we are at DL for 5 days :cool1:

I have been shopping EVERYWHERE to find a pair of black dress shoes that don't KILL my feet. Do any of you ladies actually LIKE wearing heals? Would a pair of black birkenstock's be acceptable? ;) HELP!!!!!! :confused3

Oh, and still no DOCS!

I HATE wearing heels..can't...just can't...and I found a pair of black, FLAT, cute strappy sandals at Wal-Mart, of all places, for only $6! They look great with my formal gowns too. Check 'em out.

There is a Walmart near my parents. I will look there this weekend. Thanks!
I have purchased shoes from $25.00 to $150.00 and NOTHING feels very good. :paw: I will keep searching. I am famous for buying and returning. If I can't wear them around the house for more than 1 hour then I can't wear them all night on the ship and forget about dancing

Hey Michelle!

You are a busy lady! We actually live in Elk Grove, but if I put that in my info people would wonder...Where the heck is Elk Grove?

We can always play a short game of something if we have the time. I am looking forward to just relaxing and not having an agenda :)
