Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

Now that we are getting closer to the time of the cruise, Allen and I were thinking of trying to set up a "formal" time to get in a little pin trading for anyone who is interested. I know people tend to gather during disney's schedule pin trading time (which is right before dinner) and it always seems like that's a bad time for me, I find myself being torn away from the bags and bags of shiney things by dinner and shows.

Anyway I know that at least a few people were interested in bringing their pins and some others were on the fence but I was thinking that we could organize both an adult and a kid trading time. I know a lot of kids like to trade but their parents like to protect them from the "sharks" and kid trading time would be a shark free zone (Allen and I keep a book of traders that we treat like CM traders, the kids can trade any pin they want for any pin in the book). We will post guards against the more public of the sharks, if you know what I mean.

I was thinking some sea day afternoon might be a good time but am open to suggestions! Is there any interest?

Since I'm behind a bit, I'd be happy to add this to the newsletter for those that don't see the threads or keep up with it all
:rotfl2:

Let me know (by e-mail or PM) how you want people to let you know their interest (post, PM or e-mail and the appropriate addresses). Thanks!

Tracy

re: books
I'm wondering the same thing after reading some of the reviews from the May cruise. I wonder if I'll have enough time in between all of the activities to finish multiple books. For that reason I probably won't sign up for a book exchange. I'll just put any I'm finished with in the Cove Cafe library and hopefully exchange there if I run out. What does everyone else think?

Good idea. I'll probably bring two or three books and do the same.

For thoose who plan on bring their own snorkel gear - and belong to COSTCO - they have a coupon this week for the the US Divers Pro Pack - new cost is $ 32.00 (vs. $40), incls.dry snorkel, fins, mask & carry bag. If they don't have the coupons as you enter just ask at the register and they apply it (as least that is how ours works). :cool1:

Hey, can anyone help me make up my mind? I need all the help I can get. :rotfl2: Anyway, we are arriving at LAX on Friday the 19th. We are being shuttled to HISP but would really like to go on to Disneyland from there. What form of transportation is everyone using that are at the Holiday Inn? If I am right Budget won't allow me to rent a car at the airport and return it at Long Beach. Cab sounds expensive. I got a quote from Karmel and man it was more than the admission fee for Disneyland by a lot so that doesn't make sense. Any ideas?

Okay Val I thought it was Denver but it could have been anywhere north of there.

I meant that the new shoes weigh about 5 ounces as opposed to the late unlamented ones that were over a pound.

I plan on bringing a book or two. On the fence whether one will be Harry Potter. But definately a couple of paper backs. As for the pins I'm not sure how many I can bring as once again they weigh a whole bunch. But I'll work on that too. Still planning on bringing the sewing. Bought a new piece to work on while we're on the trip. With all the things to do on board I figure I won't really get much done.

Did you all see the thread about tendering into Cabo? Maybe they will get it right by August.

HISP is pretty far from DL. I am getting in about 2pm (now, 3rd schedule change) and will get the super shuttle from LAX to HISP. We will just check in there and depending on the weather either hang out at the pool or in the room for a while. Then I plan on being at the pool from about 7 on for the HISP party! Don't know how long it will go on, but we have people arriving into LAX at around midnight, so we will be up late. Which will be a killer with the time change, but might as well get used to it ASAP!

I don't know if there is any reasonable transport from HISP to DL, but if you call the hotel direct, I bet they can tell you. I am hoping there is some sort of convenience store with in walking distance so I can get some snacks for the party. I will also be checking with the hotel to see if they can set something up for us that won't break my bank. I think Susan is also working on the party, I better talk to her, too! So much to do!!!!!

The Newsletter has been delivered

If you did not receive a copy and you were expecting one, please let me know. I had some problems e-mailing people so I either sent the newsletter to you once, twice or not at all :confused3

Mark, I got it out early just for you :lovestruc Actually took the afternoon off of work.

Tracy

Thanks Marsha, I did contact the hotel and they gave me 2 different cab numbers. I just need to call them. Initially we weren't even going to go to DL but we get in so early (8:35am) so I thought why not. I honestly think that we will end up being pool people, too. Not a problem with me! By the way, the Holiday Inn told me that there is a liquor store across the street. I am thinking that I will buy my wine there. Can't afford the weight in my luggage! Can't remember what if any they said about a convenience store or whatever for snacks. Sorry.

Thanks Tracy for the newsletter. I need to go open it now.

WOW :cheer2: Tracy this is some newsletter. I'll have to print this one out to read and make notes on. Thanks for all the effort you put into these.

We love to pin trade, we definitely plan on bringing lanyards loaded up with pins, and this would be lots of fun!

Tracy -

Awesome newletter as always :flower: Thanks for all your time and effort it is most appreciated by our family!

Michelle

Sandy, the snacks are covered. I have a friend who has volunteered to help with driving in his rental. Good to know there is a liquor store across the street. The need for various flavoured vodkas is becoming apparent. Fooltini tasting does not includ Metropolitans, and the new Absolute Peach sounds, well, peachy!

Tracy, once again the newsletter is totally awesome. I will let Grinna read them all at HISP. She needs to learn all about the Fools before we board!

I will bring my left over traders, and I may bring my Mickey Lanyard with my favorite, not to be traded pins on it. Depends on the weight.

Mark, you know us girls, we feel it is better for you to give than to recieve.

That's ok, you'll get it eventually Mark. Tell Sandy I tried to say hi, but was having technical difficulties!

Tracy

Tracy,
Great job, once again with the newsletter! I can't believe it's only 3 more newsletters till we cruise! :cool1:
