Bringing proof of vaccination to the port

Does anyone know if you actually need the original card ever for anything? Is a photo sufficient or a copy? I've not had to show mine anywhere yet and have always wondered what "proof of vaccination" actually means. Not looking for guesses or speculation here. Real world experience please.

I would call dcl vs asking someone. Seems like a small thing to do in order to get on the ship. If you get an answer, post back.

I'll let you all know my experience in a couple of hours. We are waiting for the DCL bus right now!

Again, thanks for the responses. I bought the larger card holders that fit my wife's card, and mine fit well too.

I would 100% not trust them even if its in writing. I would expect a requirement of an original in order to board the ship. You can try using a duplicate to get in to the gym on board though.

Yes maybe overkill but would rather be safe than sorry in this case. Otherwise why require proof at all if people can just show a copy or something on their phone.

I agree, I would never take a chance. Seems easy to take the original. If it’s lost, not a big deal. In our state we can get a replacement copy right away From the location we got the shots.

Are you asking about in general, life at home? Not specific to DCL.
Here at home our local movie theater requires the actual card to be shown. Some work places have recently started requiring the actual card, but that's a 1-time thing. I think my DD's school may require the actual card if they decide they need to collect data about how many students are vaccinated. I've heard the Canadian border requires the actual card, but I haven't experienced it personally.

Both actually.

Not so easy to do if you got vaccinated in a mass vaccination location in a parking garage.

we actually were vaccinated this way, but it was sponsored by the Heath department for our county And 2 neighboring counties. Just this week they sent us a message and a link if we’re interested in getting a new replacement card. I’m guessing people are calling them because of missing cards and the booster starting in September. Our mass vaccination sites were held at a race track in a parking gargage. A few were held at recreational centers too.

btw, I live in WV so not in a tech savvy area.

Well, we're in California and the vaccination site was a state one. CA has a website where we can get a QR code for our vaccination info. But, we've also taken a picture of our cards on our phones. So we're good, but I'm not sure how the city/county locations handle it.

actually WV was the leading state for the fastest turn around for receiving vaccines and getting them into arms quickly. We were being used as an example of how well we did it. But while things started out well, it fell apart once we reached the hesitancy groups and we couldn’t give the vaccine away. I’m not sure if we even reached 50%. But, just this week I know 3 people who got their first shots, so there’s hope. As for my family, everyone in my bubble of kids and grandkids stepped up right away. from ages 12 (actually on her 12th birthday) to my husband age 71 and everyone in between. ❤️

Just got through checkin, and they did not ask for the card. All they do is scan your safe passage QR code so they know if you need testing or not. Right off the bus, they scanned the QR code and split everyone into two lines based on whether you needed testing.

There was a person who claimed she was vaccinated but was put into the testing line. She must have been able to provide proof, because I saw her in the terminal 15 minutes later.
