Bringing proof of vaccination to the port

Guess that's where my problem is; I have a passport card that fits nicely in my wallet. I know the vaccine card would get trashed in that old man wallet of mine! 🤣
Are passport cards good for getting back into the country in case of emergency? Since I have a full passport book, I always bring it, along with my Global Entry card, yellow vax book, and now covid vax card. I don't want to leave anything to chance nowadays and not be able to get back to the US.

I remember reading that you shouldn't laminate as then you can't add the dates for your booster shots
I think they laminated the copy. I hope.

Yep. I'd be up a creek if they had to disembark me in Nassau and tell me I have to fly home for whatever reason. I'd have to go to the US embassy and get a passport there, and who knows how long that'd take.

But with the stops being only at Castaway Cay I still figure passport cards will be fine.

If you get taken from the ship at Castaway Cay wouldn't they just take you to the main Bahamas Island to fly home?

I don't have a link, but I've seen US coast guard evac people from Castaway Cay on YouTube. Figure they'd just go straight to Miami.

But if they take me off the ship at Castaway Cay, then I'll just have to accept my fate and remain there.

Read my post. they made a copy first. The copy is what is lamenated. I have my original for my booster.

Ok, I missed that part but realized when another poster pointed it out on Monday. Still its good info for someone who may not know enough to make a copy.

Are copies acceptable as proof of vaccine, or does it need to be the original?

I would think it has to be an original otherwise why do I need to bring the card at all when I already uploaded it.

Additionally I think both of our cards have stickers on them so its dead easy to see its a copy if were to make one.

It annoys me that they are forcing us to show the card in person and can't just have the record we uploaded be good enough. If people are faking it showing it in person won't stop them. Its the one document I have that pretty much can't be replaced since there is no central records to then request a new copy against.

It should just be marked on the KTTW card as well that the person is vaccinated for the gym entrance.

I did the same thing...laminated the yep...the original! Dang it. So now I will need a new card. The original and the booster one. 🤔🤔 oh those many many forms to attach with my passport. Oh well!!😁

I am with a lot of other people I have it in my passport holder with my passport. I don't want to lose either one :) Pop it in with your passport and keep it in the safe on the ship.

Thing is passports are meant to be carried, thrown around, and are made of more durable material. The vaccination card is paper and is not attached to the passport either so could get lost while moving it around.

Just like I don't take my birth certificate or social security card everywhere either because its paper.

We have our cards with our passports. We took photos of both sides of the cards with our phones. I was able to create a folder on one of the phone home screens with copies of the card photos.

I am so scared of hurting my passport I bought a cover for all of ours that also have RFID protection.

Right now, I'm planning to bring my vaccination card with me to the port for our upcoming cruise, but was wondering if they actually wanted to see it? I've never taken the card out anywhere and would hate to lose/damage it. I have a digital record of it, but of course that won't match the image that I uploaded to safe passage.

For those who have travelled with their vaccination card, what's the best way to protect it?
In Ohio our cards fit perfectly in a 3 by 4 inch 2 mil thickness baggie. I ordered 100 off Amazon and have given them to everyone I know. (Even mailed some to family members that were not close in miles.) The day we recieved our vaccinations we made three copies. We carry each others, have a spare, and leave the original tacked to the refrigerator. The little baggie fits great in my Vera Bradley mini cross body where the dollar bills go and the baggies and a copy can be folded and slipped in a wallet without adding bulk. This is what worked for us. Might work for you too. :)

Does anyone know if you actually need the original card ever for anything? Is a photo sufficient or a copy? I've not had to show mine anywhere yet and have always wondered what "proof of vaccination" actually means. Not looking for guesses or speculation here. Real world experience please.
