Bringing proof of vaccination to the port

Right now, I'm planning to bring my vaccination card with me to the port for our upcoming cruise, but was wondering if they actually wanted to see it? I've never taken the card out anywhere and would hate to lose/damage it. I have a digital record of it, but of course that won't match the image that I uploaded to safe passage.

For those who have travelled with their vaccination card, what's the best way to protect it?

What size is it? You can put it in a sheet protector if it's large.

If it's a smaller card sized one, maybe it'll fit in one of those lanyard holders?

Or maybe a passport holder.

Apparently, in CA, some of my friends got card sized (not business card but index card sized) vaccination cards and some got a full size paper. Weird...

Thanks for the reply. Funny you should mention this. We're in CA and I got a card that is definitely on the smaller size, but bigger than a business card, and my wife got a full on 3x5 size card. It all depended on where you got it., I guess.

Guess that's where my problem is; I have a passport card that fits nicely in my wallet. I know the vaccine card would get trashed in that old man wallet of mine! 🤣

We also keep our vac cards in the passports (so we can find them) and just have photos on the phone. Hopefully, the government will come up with something better soon (as in more durable). Fake paper ones are already being intercepted in New Orleans coming in from China.

John Oliver had a great line about how the CDC really fumbled it at the 1 yard line by making these cards (the dimensions are terrible and they do not fit in a standard wallet)

I can't remember if it was the Disney "Know Before You Go" pages or one of the "Safe Passage" pages but one of them says to bring your proof of vaccination with you because they may want to see it even though you've already submitted it digitally. Also, the gym rules mention you showing proof of vaccination to use the gym during vaccinated hours.

Make sure to keep a picture of your card on your phone in case you're worried about carrying it around everywhere. If you're not worried you can always carry it in a plastic protector that hangs on a lanyard. There are many being sold so make sure you get the right dimensions.

I could be wrong but I believe that here in Canada they are working on a QR Code you would have on your phone. I just have the paper sheet they gave me when I was vaccinated. I was happy to hear that the FBI has made it illegal to fake vacc proof and added hefty fines and possible jail time. Apparently they've already seen fake cards. I watch Boston 25 news and that's where I saw it.

We were on the 8/9 cruise. No one ever asked to see the cards during the port arrival / boarding process. We did not use the fitness center so can't say about that. We did however bring the cards with use taped to the inside cover of our passports.

I called DCL yesterday and was told they recommend bringing them because there have been a couple issues where guest downloaded the card onto the safe passage website and when they showed up at the port the pics where not on there and deleted… now will that deny you boarding… No, but now you have to probably do a test which takes even longer to do your check in process and god forbid you test positive now you’re definitely not going… I second the poster about clear cases… I got some off Amazon with different colored lanyards so I can quickly grab whose I need 🤗

Thanks for all the great responses! I ended up going on Amazon and finding a host of protective cases. From everything I could see, the card I have is the standard, as it is 4x3 and that's what most of the cases are sold for. My wife's is 4.25X3.5 and thankfully there was a seller who sold cases for that size.

I took mine to Staples and they photo copied it and lamenated it for free. So I have two copies.
