We are getting ready to take our 1st Disney cruise in less than 3 weeks...these boards have been great!! I have read some things about people bringing their own wine/beer onboard...just wondering how you packed it/carried it onboard? We are going on the 7-night Eastern and already have 3 pieces of luggage...how do you manage more space for wine/beer also? This "carrying your own onboard" is a new concept for us...we have been on several other cruise lines and have never heard of people doing this...is this a DCL thing...do many people do it? It seems like it would be a great idea and help to save a little money...although we plan on trying the mixed drinks we have heard about on this site too. Any suggestions on how to carry wine/beer onboard is appreciated.

We used softsided wine caddys for the wine bottles and packed them with the clothes and shoes in a suitcase. Also packed a case of beer in a hardside piece of luggage with other miscellaneous things and that suitcase was empty to carry home all the souveniers (sp.) that we bought. Never had a problem on the last 2 cruises we went on.

We used a rolling softsided cooler. Rolled it on board with us as a carry on. We had soda and beer as well as juice boxes for DD. Our stateroom host filled our cooler with ice for us. The fridge in the room does get drinks cool but it takes about a day.

We took our cans with us while we were on deck by the pool. The CMs do not care as long as you clean up after yourself!

On both cruises we have been on we have taken beverages. Last summer for our 7 day cruise on the magic we had the driver of Tiffany Town Cars (highly recommended) stop at a convienence store near Port Canaveral.

We bought a heavy nylon bag from Target for $18 and packed it in our suitcase. When we got to the store I filled it up with two 12 packs of soda and a 12 pack of beer, put a DCL luggage tag on it and checked it with my other bags when we arrived. It showed up at my door with our other bags.

We then had soda and beer for the verandah and when we came back from excursions. I took a soda to a movie one night and since your choices are limited for free drinks (coffee, tea, milk) it was nice to have. When we left the ship all our drinks were gone. With 2 kids the case of soda was just about right for 7 days.

Have a good cruise.

Just back. We brought a case of beer on with us... and it was a carryon.. so dh had to carry it past all the CM's, and security etc. It was in the original case.. and nobody said a word. Not a problem. Of course.. dh ended up having ONE.. and carrying the rest back OFF the ship. :D
(we aren't big drinkers)

Hi

Sandy: Seems like more than enough reasons to have a last night on board party:p Do it next time:D

:D Can you believe it? Geez. Anyway.. we got off the ship and decided to start looking at the 7 day Magic. It was just too much fun, and not enough time. So.. maybe next time we'll have enough time to drink that beer.

We used a collapsible cooler and carried that on the ship. I had one with lunch at Parrot Cay as soon as we boarded. I saw someone carry on a case of Bud. It is no problem to bring on whatever you want.

We took a box (case) of wine. We gave it to the bellstaff when we got to the port (along with all our other luggage). The box had the name of a wine maker all over it. It was apparrent it was wine. It arrived at our room along with all our other luggage, with no problems.

We did have to pay corkage fee ($12- I believe) if we took a bottle of wine to the restaurants. This is common in any restaurant where you can BYOB (bring your own bottle). We forgot to bring a corkscrew on board, but our servers gave us one, and even gave us wine glasses to use on the cruise.

A lot of the time, we put it in plastic cups so we could take it to the pool area anyway.

Didn't end up drinking all the wine, but left a nice bottle for our cabin steward as a little something extra - on top of his tip$.
