I know that the official rule is that you are not supposed to bring outside food into the park. It seems that this is an unenforced rule. I would really like to bring in some healthy snack options. Have any of you ever been stopped from bringing food items into the parks?

NO...everyone brings a backpack...
They search it....I always bring water, cheerios, other
various snacks....never a problem..

They won't stop you with sandwiches and apples. They will stop you (likely) with a hard sided cooler. I once saw someone stopped who was trying to bring in take-out - like 6 dinners, from somewhere.

There is a difference between what Disney might tell you in email vs. at the gate. Soft-sided coolers, snacks, drinks, sandwiches, etc. are let in. I often will bring a piece of fruit, Clif Bar, my tap water - there isn't any problem doing that.

We took a small soft sided cooler on our last trip. It was one we got from Academy sports similar to some models that clip on a golf bag. It was large enough to fit two bottles of H20 and two juice boxes. It had a compartment on top that unzipped where we put some bags of trail mix I made at home before we left. It also had a mesh attachment on the front where I put a bottle of purell. I never had trouble with taking it in. They do make you open it and show you what is inside.

I think if they tried to stop every person who had some food item they would have so many complaints due to the lines slowing down.

The unofficial rules are that as long as you don't bring in a hard-sided cooler, a cooler on wheels, or glass bottles, you're ok. I've brought in snacks, sandwiches and bottled water in a cooler backpack.

We have always taken in Water, Kool-Aid and snacks such as crackers, fruit, and snack cakes and have never had a problem. :)

You can bring food/drinks and bags. As long as it's nothing illigal or alcohol there shouldn't be an issue. DH and I brought bottled water and snacks on our trip and it saved us some money.
