Hi Lindsey--sent you a pm!

Has anyone that has a GTY room been assigned a room number yet?:confused3

An advisory--about half way through the cruise a lot of people came down with a throat drainage and sniffles--did not make you feel too bad, but it was annoying (I had it too this is why I am bringing it up). The people that took airborne or something like that did not seem to get it. I dont know if that was coincidence or it truly helped keep the yuck away, but I thought I would mention it. :coffee:

How cool is that!!!!! and she has a lovely name! and you sound like a very proud aunt!
I wish some of my family could have joined me.

PhD is a long, tough road - kudos to her. I look forward to toasting her & her achievements!

My aunt is the greatest!! She has been my second mom and a great inspiration to me. You'll have to join us for the drink of the day!

Hey Chris

Welcome to the goup.

Do you want your details added to the navigator? If so please PM me names, room number, cat etc?

Lindsay

Thanks for the welcome! I believe I'm included in the count with Faireygod mother. She is my aunt and I'll be traveling along with them. Right now 2 of us are in GTY so we are waiting for our room assignment. My name is Christine, but I typically go by Chris.

I shall buy you a congratulatory drink!!! It's hard work studying/preparing for a doctorate.
I burned out of my first career in advertising so I went to law school. So, I have an idea what you have been doing!

Formal night - 20th Aug
Semi formal - 25th Aug & 30th Aug

Well the two males at your table will be in Tuxes on formal night ...1 semi we wont be there due to Palo and the other semi will be slacks and a vest or something a little retro for me ...LOL

My Sweet Melissa will wear a formal type dress on formal night and I have no clue what she will wear on semi ...maybe a cocktail dress or something ..

I will be wearing a gown on formal night and a black 3/4 length on semi. Not sure about the second semi.

no word yet on our gty room or flight info...waiting for the 30 day mark.

I'm not sure about formal night, it's fun to dress up but a pain to pack. Still looking for something to wear. DH will probably just wear a suit (no tux for him) DD's...another dilema. Think we will need to pick a day and go shopping :rotfl:

You can't go wrong with the little black dress. That's what I'm bringing for formal night and dressing it up with sparkly jewelry. It may pull double duty with different accessories for semi-formal. Haven't quite figured those out yet.

Ok, now you're making rethink my formal night plan. If I'm going to be surrounded by tuxes, then I'll want to put a little more effort into my attire.

my hubbie and son will both be sporting tux(s) on formal night--not often we get cleaned up like this--makes a good photo op for x-mas :santa: cards! can hardly wait!!!

I wanted to share some of our plans and past experiences with our ports. Hopefully, you will find this valuable and interesting. While reading just keep in mind that we are without children and relatively young :)

Barcelona is very walk-able vibrant European city. We were here before a few times and really enjoyed walking on Ramblas, exploring the gothic quarter and the cathedral… Other sights not to be missed include famous church Segrada Famila, the Picasso museum…There is regular bus (I don’t know whether Disney provides its own shuttle) from the cruise terminal to the statue of Columbus at the beginning of Ramblas. We also walked from the ship to the Ramblas – it takes almost an hour. Public transportation (metro, buses) in Barcelona is great and you can get pretty much anywhere. If anybody is staying in Barcelona for a few days, I can definitely recommend daytrip to the Montserrat monastery and church. It is a longish drive, but well worth it.

Gibraltar is surprisingly British. We were here in May 2007 on the Voyager of the Seas and walked through the city towards the cable car (around 30 min walk). The cable car (I believe it was around 15€, we waited in line for good half and hour) takes you to the top of the Rock where you can see the straits and the Barnaby apes. If you opt for the cable car, get also the audio tour; it is very informative and explains the history, nature and geography. There are also taxi tours available almost everywhere; they offer good value, but are quite short (2.5 hours).
Our plans are to try to find some geocaches; it seems there are quite a few intriguing ones hidden around Gibraltar. Are there any other geocachers traveling with us?

Cadiz is one of the great European seaside cities. The best way to experience the atmosphere is to get “lost” in the narrow roads of the city (the old peninsula part is not very big) and check the shops and restaurants… Alternatively, we took the train from Cadiz to Jerez (around 30 minutes; under 10€) – Jerez is more modern and not so interesting, the thing to experience is visit to one of the sherry bodegas (Jerez is home of sherry). We did the guided tour of the González Byass (around 20 min walk from Jerez train station); it was very interesting to see how the sherry and brandy are made, there was also ample tasting opportunity at the end…

Tenerife will be the only new port for us. We are thinking of renting a car and driving the scenic roads towards the Teide National Park (volcano). There is a cable car that takes you almost to the top and the views are described as breathtaking. Is there anybody that would like to join us for this excursion?

As this post is getting very long - if you would like some more information or are contemplating joining us in Tenerife, just PM me or post on this board.

I just found out our tshirt order was cancelled. No one notified me. If I had not tried to track the order I would not have found out.
Bummer... I liked the shirts.

Linda

Which t-shirts were cancelled? I ordered some from the zazzle website and my order came in.
