Hi folks,

Had such fun on the Eastern transatlantic cruise, decided to join the Westbound.

It will be myself and DH, John, in room 7576

Will be bringing a fish extender, just need to think of what gifts to bring

Faireygod Mother - how do we pay you for the lanyards and how do we pick them up?

Looking forward to meeting you all

I guess I need to look into a paypal account. I am not really familiar with this, but do see where it would be beneficial.

I would say mail me a check or money order.

As for getting the lanyards to you. My plan was to ship them, however some UK folks mntioned my hand carrying them and then you picking them up from me on board. Either way is ok with me. You all will have to let me know.

I will PM everyone this week with my address and if I manage to get a paypal account I will also provide you with that info.

The woman who ordered the lanyards for our July 28 med cruise set up a paypal account and said it was easy -- most of us already had paypal (I do) and could send her the money quickly.

Please add us to the list of fish extenders.

Here's what Elizabeth told me we are doing in Cadiz: we're docked for a long time and most things will not be open at 8, so we will probably not rush off the ship. (I suspect the long day will help those who want to spend the say in Seville, though). From where we will be docked, we can walk right into old Cadiz. Plaza Espano is very near the port, and later in the day will have lots of markets with local handicrafts and food set up. She says that there is another area elsewhere with big modern department stores (she bought three dresses at Cortes Ingles) but that's not what we are looking for in one day in Cadiz. She suggests heading to the Torre Tavira first, which looks like it is about 13 blocks from the port on the map she brought home. It has a cool display of an old camera obscura, but the best part is going to the top and seeing all of Cadiz. She says it's easy to get your bearings that way.

Then she suggests going to the Cathdral with its gold dome. It is easy to find, and see, she says, and looks easy walking distance from Torre Tavira. After that we are heading to a beach. She always went to Placa de la Victoria, but it's a little far from the city center (more about transport in a minute). Placa Santa Maria del Mar is a little closer to old Cadiz, and walking distance if you like to walk (maybe a mile or so). There are places to eat near the beach and places to shower off.

She often took buses, which she says are easy -- you just pay the .90euro (90 euro cents, and they will make change -- she came home with a ton of .10 euro coins) on board, no tickets required. Otherwise, she also said that taxis are cheap, although you don't really hail them on the street -- you look for taxi stands which are around in old Cadiz and near the beaches.

She warns everyone that many shops do close for siesta (about 12-4, approximately) so that would be a good time to be at the beach and shop on the way back. Elizabeth says that Cadiz is small and easy to get around on your own, and she liked it a lot.

So Cool Julie - thanks for asking. I forgot that your DD was an artist - will she be bringing her sketchbook onboard? I would love to have April see her book. She's actually pretty talented for not having any formal training at all. She's had some informal training from her private elementary (k-8) teachers but I was hesitant on spending so much $ for something that was 2nd to her interest. She loves to draw - is pretty good but sewing is her first love. But I think that she'd love to see your DD's book if she felt up to showing it to her. April is 14 and is growing up or being forced to grow up from an innocent young child to a young lady.

She went to her first concert yesterday - Fall Out Boys at the Forum in LA, CA (which I totally wrestled with) with her BFF from grade school and now high school and her mom. So, I have to hold back every once in a while when I see that she's trying to go with the flow. I guess they all must grow up. :sad1:

:woohoo: Hi Laura. Hi everyone. We are so excited about this cruise and seeing our OLD (lol) friends and making new ones. :grouphug:

I'm also not thinking:confused3 . Thought I would drive my car to JFK and park it there since we are leaving from JFK. Forgot we're coming back from PC to Philly. :rotfl2: I'm am such a chicken and afraid of driving over bridges. :scared1: I printed the directions to JFK and found out I have to drive over the Verrazano Bridge. :sad2:

Is anyone interested in visiting the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona. DD Lindsay wants to see it.

Bev :)

When did you get your flight details from Disney. Did you call to get them or did you find them on-line? Wondering if the August 17/18 flight info is available yet? thanks

We're booked through DCL for the red eye and I was able to confirm our info with Delta, I called through the skymiles program to make sure our member numbers were on the flights and they gave me the booking number so I could pull it up online. We leave 8/17 out of Washington National 10:30am to JFK then 5:20 pm we depart for Barcelona arriving at 7:30 am.

Hi Bev - I will probably have seen it by that time - I can't wait I hear its beautiful!

I see you got tagged with your Prince line? :thumbsup2

Great! Is she part of the group going to Dublin? There are fewer redheads in Ireland than one might think, but still more than you generally see anywhere else. She could fit right in.

Hi Julie!:flower3:

Didn't realise you were on this cruise too! And you are so right about the redheads here, definitely getting less and less but your dd would fit right in, stunningly beautiful! Are you heading here before the cruise? I rarely post here, so if you have already discussed this, sorry!

Moira.

Yes, Elizabeth will bring her sketchbook, for sure. I don't think Elizabeth would mind showing it to April.

She and I will see Fall Out Boy at Live Earth concert on 7-7-07! (along with about 20 other groups including the Police and Bon Jovi.)

Hi Moira!

We are changing planes in Dublin (flying Aer Lingus) but that's it for Ireland on this trip. We will be on the July 28 med cruise, then in France for 10 days, and then back to barcelona for the repo, so visiting Ireland wasn't going to work out for this summer. I look forward to seeing you soon!

You don't HAVE to drive over the Verrazano bridge, but it is by far the easiest and most efficient way. If you take the holland or the lincoln tunnels you will have to drive through Manhattan to get to Brooklyn and then on to JFK. But if you really, really hate bridges, it is a possibility.

Mum I have added you to the navigator.

Paypal is easier for us in the UK to be honest as getting a money order is a nightmare from here and I dont think our cheques work the same as yours?

Since we are also leaving from JFK & flying back into Philly, we decided to take the train to NYC. Got a good rate too.

Actually, I prefer Valerie, but Terry has only known me since around 1995, so he probably hasn't had time to notice that.:lmao:

I booked through a travel agent for this trip even though we are DVC members. We just didn't have the 'point power' to do back-to-back cruises with a family of 5. My travel agent offered that we could make our own arrangements or go through Disney. When he did the math for Disney for me last year, it was the same as if I booked myself ... but I have the reassurance that if we miss our connection or what-have-you, we will be taken care of by going through Disney. I think the arrangements are available on-line now, but I have been swamped all weekend. This is my first look at the thread since last week! I'll be checking on the flight info in just a little bit ...

Deb,

OT question. Do they make you get off the boat on BtoB cruises? If you are lucky enough to be able to book the same room can you just get up go through customs and go back? There reason I'm asking is the Magic is running some very nice rates for the 7 day cruise when we get back.

Linda:rolleyes1

Hey there'll be two of us then, though I'm Valorie! Val is fine for me, though DH never calls me that, so just the opposite situation!
