So we have the HEA Dessert Party w/ Plaza Garden Viewing booked for our trip this weekend. Check in time states 7:45, due some other things we have scheduled, we would be able to check in at this time, but will not have had dinner first. Could we grab some food from the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant and bring it in to the party?

Restaurant is closed during party, even times of year it is open.

I'm sure that would be fine, but Disney doesn't have go-bags. Bring an food bag with you.

so you are going to eat dinner moments before the dessert party?

I would vote for finding a way to eat hours before the dessert party. It is a pretty expensive experience to eat dinner at the same time

The only thing is that we will be having a VIP Guide which will be ending at 7:45 due to the 7 hour minimum. So it would be cheaper to grab something quick after the tour vs during it.

The dessert party has cheese and crackers and fruit in addition to the desserts. I agree with others to skip dinner, or I would bring pb&j sandwiches in your park bag and eat them sometime during your tour.

I would imagine that your party will need to schedule a break during that 7 hour tour. I suggest that you build a meal stop in yout tour, and skip dinner before the party. You are spending a good deal of money on the party in order to eat elsewhere just prior.

You are eating too close to the party like others have stated. If you can get away with a snack an hour or so before then do that. There are savory options at the party along with the desserts. It's not for the faint of heart as the amount of food at the party is ridiculous.

We did a late lunch (around 3-ish) and then did the party and quite frankly, had we eaten any later than this, the party would not have been worth it. And we did it before the price went up.

I seriously would reconsider your dinner plans and go with a late lunch and then a snack maybe before the party.

Are you sure your seven hour tour doesn't have a meal break included in it? That's a long time for an employee to go without eating.

It's a 7 consecutive hour tour. We're allowed to stop for a meal if we wish, but the billing doesn't stop, so at $400 an hour plus the cost of the meal, and the guide isn't doing anything for us while we're eating. We do grab snacks along the way. I'm just thinking that we're basically allotted an hour for dessert before we go to the Garden Plaza, there's no way I'm just gonna be eating dessert for a whole hour.

In spite of the overwhelming consensus to the opposite here, you have obviously made up your mind.
To answer your original question, I personally would not feel right about checking in to the party, leaving and then bringing dinner food back in. Will they prevent you - probably not.

Wow.

up to you of course OP

It is a lot less expensive to not eat any desserts cuz you are too full from dinner than to stop and have a dinner break

Although check-in starts at 7:45 pm, you don't HAVE to check in then. If you were doing the terrace viewing and needed to snag a good seat, yes 7:45 pm (and even lining up before is a good idea), but with the Plaza Garden viewing, it really isn't necessary. My DS9 and I did the Plaza Garden viewing party in December and we were at least 30 minutes late (got caught in a rain storm at BTMRR) and I'm actually glad we were as it doesn't take us an hour to eat dessert! We ate our dessert and then were rather bored as we waited to be escorted to the garden. Another plus of being late (though I can't guarantee this will happen to you). They ran out of seating on the overly, bright and crowded upper terrace and seated us on the "mezzanine level" (right above the terrace viewing guests). We were the only ones on that level, so it was quiet and a little more ambient. I'm hoping we get that seating again when we go in August.

I would have your guide end your tour at Casey's, grab a bite and then try to get to Tomorrowland Terrace by 8:15 - 8:20 pm. This will give you plenty of time to have some desserts and then head over to the garden to see the show.

:confused::scared:

If the price of the tour is causing you to think in such a way, I have to wonder if a less costly tour might be a better option.

I feel a bit sorry for the CM.

We purposely don't start our tour until after lunch so that we can enjoy lunch. We get quick service snacks a couple times during the tour, usually when some people don't want to ride certain rides. Also Disney pays for any food the guide wants during the tour, so she doesn't go without food. It was really cute on our last tour my niece (age 7) got a mickey bar and dropped it as soon as she got it out of the package, our guide who was getting one for herself got a second and gave it to her and insisted that Mickey wanted to pay for her replacement.

Thank you! I didn't know of the check in was strictly 7:45 or not.
