Hearing someone fell on the track while monorail was coming!

My DD is currently working at Chef Mickey’s this evening. She texted me and said someone jumped/fell and died. According to her someone went to a greeter and told them something bad happened on the observation deck and to get someone there fast. She was upset and a bit shaken up.

I couldn’t imagine everyone affected by this. Family, everyone waiting up there and cast members. Terribly sad.

I believe the initial reports of a person going onto the tracks is false. I saw a picture online of authorities setting up a tent on the observation deck. Very sad.

Yeah sounds like it was inside the atrium

Not inside. It was from a high floor stairway balcony which is outside the glass wall, and falling to the outside observation deck of the 4th floor (main floor of the atrium). Also, the person did NOT fall onto the monorail track as some have said.

It definitely wasn’t inside. They landed on the outside observation deck.

DD said Disney handled it very well. She said it was very calm, not chaotic as some would think, and the leaders were very sympathetic to staff and even gave everyone dinner on Mickey. They also made sure all staff left together when they were done.

Whoever gave the guests affected a free dinner deserves her pay tripled. This is the Disney service I expect amidst a rough situation like this.

My DD works there. Not a guest. I don’t know what they did for guests. And I don’t think she does either.

This is horrible sad news. DW and I were leaving MNSSHP last night walking towards the buses. We overheard someone else asking how to get home because the resort monorail wasn't running. I thought that was odd but I had no idea something so tragic just happened.

I’ll be honest: I like Bay Lake Tower and love the location, but these reports make me never want to stay there. It’s not the first time I’ve read about something like this at BLT/Contemporary, and I know my family and I would be very distraught if something like this occurred during our own stay.

As a guest, I would be ashamed to accept a free dinner. I don't want any freebies from such a tragedy.

Employees are different. I applaud the person(s) who took care of them.

The dinner was not for the guests it was for the employees if I read correctly

I feel sorry that this person was so sad that they couldn't find anyway to fix it. However, overreacting to it is just as sad. You do realize that this resort has been there from day one and I remember very few incidents there, but in real life this could happen anywhere you happen to be. It just might be a different way but dead is dead.

It still hasn't even announced what caused them to fall. Did they lean to far over the railing and it was just a stupid accident or was it suicide. One day when I was in college, I worked part time delivering medical supplies with a van. I was following a semi as it turned onto a street. At that very moment the load shifted an flipped the truck on its side. The driver was injured pretty bad (time before seat belts). Less than 45 minutes later as I was driving past a city park when I heard a loud bang and looked up to see a man still standing but on the way down, gun still in hand. Jump ahead about four hours and I was waiting behind a car in line to board the auto ferry to go across the lake. We start to move on and as the car got closer to the front, all of a sudden the car ahead lunged forward at full throttle going under the chain links strung in front of the opening of the boat. The car went under the chain, broke the windshield out and sunk into the water. One of the crew that had been direction cars to their spot, jumped in and managed to bring a woman up, saving her, but he couldn't get to the driver on time, but speculation was he was already dead.

Moral of the story is it is irrelevant where one is at anytime, this can happen. The place isn't a likely spot. Would you be unwilling to go to a hospital if you're sick, because a lot of people die in that place.
