Disney used to pride itself on selling "never expiring" passes. Meaning that if you bought a 4 day pass, only used two days, you could come back whenever to use the other days.

That is exactly what I did in 2001. So I had two days left X 4 people on my old pass key (the hotel key plastic card) So I called before I went down there just to check the balances on the cards. I got slightly suspicious when they wouldn't check the keys over the phone/ or by email or anything.

When I got to the hotel I had the card run, as I had remembered they all had 2 days left on them, park hopper passes, never expiring. I asked to have the balances switched to my new room keys as I didn't want to have to bring two different sets of keys to the park, they said that wasn't general policy, just bring the old cards to the park. I should of been suspicious then again.

I got to the park and went to the ticket window, he checked the cards he said no problem proceed to the monorail to the park... I get to the gate, my kids can see MM through the bars, The tickets come up declined. I get sent to an "information booth" away from all the other people entering the park and the "cast member" tells me my tickets are expired, I'll have to buy new ones. That was $640 worth of tickets. I blew my stack.

So I bought daily tickets that day and went back to my hotel and had them check again, same thing, two days left on the 4 day, never-expiring passes. This time I wised up, I insisted that they transfer the balance to my new room keys, and give me a paper receipt.

You know the same thing happened the next day? I was still flagged at the gate, sent to the information booth, only this time I had the paper receipt showing four brand new park hopper passes. The cast member in the booth was pissed, grumbling under his breath, etc.

He told me he was going to issue me paper two day park hopper passes, and that my room key tickets were invalid. He obviously had dealt with this before.

I was totally disgusted.

I've talked to a lot of people since then. Everyone said the same thing, "oh, disney tickets were always good forever, I can't believe it!!" Watch out.
