Bring us a Shrubbery!! May 25-June 1, 2007!!

Just had to come back in and post...less than a month!!

26 days to be exact...yeah baby! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. Not that anyone would notice because I'm so flat anyway, but it still feels good. ;)

Just sitting around being lazy - we were out late last night at a wedding reception and I don't want to do anything. But...there's grocery shopping, and cleaning, and real work from work, and bills....bah! I just want to dream of vacation, is that so wrong?

Have a great Sunday - hope the weather is beautiful where you are! :goodvibes

LOL! Nothing like having a Jonestown moment while getting your barium.

Exactly...I shouldn't poke fun at something like that but what else are you supposed to think when someone hands you a paper cup full of funky tasting purple kool-aid and you have no choice other than to drink it? ;)

I love manicures and pedicures. I see men getting pedicures at the place I go, as well. I don't go all out for the aromatherapy or paraffin, but the massage chair...ahhhhhhhh. It's not a spa pedicure. It's a spaaaaaaah pedicure.

I like that...spaaaaaaaaaah pedicure. :lmao: I don't care so much for the aromatherapy portion of the pedicure but since it includes the paraffin (which I love) and it's cheaper than paying extra for it, I just always book this one.

I need a pedi so bad. I wore flip flops to DS's baseball game this morning and was so embarrassed - most of the other moms had such pretty toes and mine are just not ready for summer yet. :scared: Time to put the crocs back on!! That is great that you're doing them together :) When DH heard that you get to sit in the shiatshu massage chair and all, he was all for it. Not sure if he was serious or not:confused3 but now DD13 wants to go too. This family gets more and more expensive by the minute LOL Anyway, enjoy your pedis ;)

I was at a wedding reception last night and wore high heeled sandals and all I could think was just how badly I needed my feet to be summer-ized! The massage chair is awesome - it's amazing how many men re-evaluate their preconceived spa notions when they have a chance to sit in that chair! :lmao:

Brilliant!!!! :worship: :thumbsup2

Thank you, thank you...we're here all summer! :lmao: :lmao:

Why spend less when you can spend more?

I had a manicure on Friday night and here we are three days later...already looking rough around the edges. :sad2:

Which of course got me to thinking about our fabu glutton-fest at the Chef's Table...how can I eat 13 courses, drink all that wine, and make pretty pictures for my favorite DISers if I have gnarled-nails?

There is only one solution...I will schedule a manicure at Mandara after our couples treatment!

I love the Mandara...I just finished speaking with them and they calmly and effeciently granted my wish.

May 29th:

Couples treatment 10:30AM - Noon

Exotic Hand Ritual Noon - 12:45PM

What, you ask, is the Exotic Hand Ritual? Let me share the spa-love with you:

Warmed aromatherapy oils nourish and condition while the sublime sensation of a milk bath lavishes its richness and healing action on your skin. This treatment also includes a traditional manicure.

Any spa treatment that uses the word sublime gets my attention! :lmao:

We'll have just enough time afterwards to grab a light lunch and get back to the resort for a little pool time before cleaning up for an unforgettable anniversary dinner.

PS. Shout-out to Lori aka BriarRosie for the term Spaaaaaaaaaah Treatment! ;)

Now I know this must sound strange... a pedicure for a man? But the spa here that I frequent offers a sports pedicure for men that's really designed to clean up their feet and make them presentable so that they don't look like wildebeests on the pool deck. I wouldn't want Jay frightening any small children with those "hoofs" of his! :rotfl2:

It's a relaxing treatment and Jay is all about relaxing - he's a good sport about this stuff and he loves to be pampered on vacation. He'll get a foot and leg massage, a paraffin treatment, and all the nail and callus work he can stand. Am I great wife, or what? ;)

You are a great wife!!:thumbsup2 Men who won't go for the spa treatments don't know what they're missing. Good for Jay for getting pampered!:)

And somehow I don't think your parenting is awful at all.

Thanks so much for that! :flower3: I hope my kids feel the same!

I thought perhaps the "ritual" was a sacrifice to the cuticle gods. :confused3
Heheheh. ;) But woot! I got a shout out! And my spaaaaaaaahhhhh phrase can be described by one of my favorite words:

onomatopoeia. :teeth:

(Ok, I better lurk in my own pre-trip report for a while. LOL)

Actually it works like this -

Me: "You will get a spa treatment and you'll like it, or I'll go Grimace on you!"

Jason: "Yes dear."

And then we both snicker because we know that we're just being meanies. ;)

Thanks so much for that! :flower3: I hope my kids feel the same!

Of course they do!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: That's just funny...and if you've seen pictures of the inside of this spa you'd suspect that it happens after hours once the clients have all departed. ;)

Sounds heavenly!!:cloud9:

It does, doesn't it? Only now I have this awful urge to refer to it as a Mandacure...:lmao:

I've just finished reading your dining review, have made it through this pre-trip, and these are the funniest threads, ever! We too have a Grimace in our family, but we secretly call her Senora Crankypants. We live a few hours south of St. Louis and are huge Cardinals fans, so it was good to see another Redbirds fan on the boards.

A new reader! Woo Hoo!! Glad to have you aboard Andiepie and thanks so much for reading! :goodvibes

I have a trip report in progress that goes along with the food report if you really feel like punishing yourself - follow the link in my signature to Argle Bargle or Foofarah...

I'm in the middle of Day 7 on that one.

Senora Crankypants....:rotfl2: That's great! :thumbsup2

And it is good to see another Cardinal fan on the DIS, especially on one of my threads (I was feeling so alone!).

Thanks again for reading and posting - hope to see / hear more from you in the future! :goodvibes

Holy Cow Brenda!! Almost 300 posts on this thread and your trip hasn't even started yet. This must be some kind of record...or everyone just knows that this will the thread to beat all!! YOU WIN girl!:cheer2:

Thanks Nancy! There are a lot of DISfriends who followed me over from the Argie-Bargie so it's nice and comfy here. :goodvibes

And you know how I like to talk...and talk...and talk....

Speaking of talk...what restaurant menu haven't we picked over yet?

How about California Grill? The most recent menu I find on Allears is February 2007. Since CG is pretty good about tweaking their menu on a seasonal basis I think it's safe to assume that some items currently listed will not be available next month.

When we ate dinner at CG last October I actually tried sushi... a dumbed down version, but sushi nonetheless. I ordered the Dungeness Crab California Roll with avacado and cucumber. It was a huge serving - all four of us were able to eat it - and it was good, but I liked Jason's choice better. He opted for the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli....yummmmmmmie!

I'd like to try one of their flatbreads, too, if they offer one when we're there that doesn't have too much stuff on it. I really don't like a lot of stuff on or in my food...;)

I'd also like to try one of their cheese plates because I've heard they are really good.

For my entree in October I ordered the pork tenderloin with the goat cheese polenta...if I could just order the polenta by itself I would - best polenta ever.
And surprisingly easy to make - we served it at Christmas and everyone really enjoyed it. Sooo, it looks like I know what I'm having for dinner on May 30th -I wonder what Jay will have? :confused3

I had one of the flatbreads at CG on our last trip and it was wonderful! I can't remember exactly what it was, but I think it was a chicken BBQ sort of thingy (in fact, that was probably the official name;) ). I think my nephew had the carmelized onion flatbread, which was also fabulous. We're a sharing kind of family, too!:thumbsup2

Aarrgh! More CG talk! I am having such a hard time with the fact that we aren't going this time. Unless I can work it out...

Keep talking! Just to let you know that I'm one of the fans from your October trip and food reports who've followed you over here! I want to get in now so I can keep up and read all about your next trip(s)! We've never been able to visit Epcot for the F&W Festival as its held during term time for our kids and I'm one of those parents who feels guilty :guilty: about them missing school! Maybe one day lol! We have been in May though, before the guilt set in, and its a great time to visit the World. Beautiful plant and flower displays, and plenty of experts to help you achieve the same at home!

Looking forward to hearing all about the trip. Loved the video btw - you two are a hoot! :rotfl2:

Brenda - as I was trying to find the newest posts, I re-read the "exotic hand ritual" part and had this flash:
Identically clad snooty manicurists breaking out in the hand jive whilst squirts of different colored hand cream flew everywhere. Think 1940s musical -- Mel Brooks style. :lmao:
LOL Oh, I amuse myself.

Those both sound good, in theory... but I can't do BBQ food - absolutely sets off the Crohns, even just a hint of smoke or sauce. I'm a freak, I know. ;) And I just don't like onion.

Is it so wrong to wish for a flatbread with some prosciutto, mild white cheese, and perhaps some apples? :confused3

BTW, Lori, Jason would love both of those flatbread choices...I feel like such a dining meanie sometimes. :sad2:

Jennifer you deserve a night at CG as a reward for all of your hard work and dedication! :thumbsup2

:rotfl: I am loving this report!

Woot!! A new reader!! :yay: Thanks so much - hope to see more of you as we get closer and closer to our departure date. :goodvibes

Hi there! I remember you - you're from Scotland and now you've made all of my trippies international!!
Thanks for following me and joining in the fun before it even really starts.

We've never been able to visit Epcot for the F&W Festival as its held during term time for our kids and I'm one of those parents who feels guilty :guilty: about them missing school! Maybe one day lol!

I hope some day you have a chance to visit in October - not only is the F&W Festival a blast, but the weather is usually lovely. :thumbsup2

We have been in May though, before the guilt set in, and its a great time to visit the World. Beautiful plant and flower displays, and plenty of experts to help you achieve the same at home!

I will pass that along to the hubby, who really enjoys working in the garden. I enjoy watching him work in the garden. :lmao:

Looking forward to hearing all about the trip. Loved the video btw - you two are a hoot! :rotfl2:

Thanks again for reading and don't be shy - I love to "chat" with everyone. Glad you liked the video - can I just say that my hubby is really pleased with himself now? ;)
