Bring on the MAGIC- May 2016 solo PTR, Final update 5/6

I haven't been outside yet today, but when you get to Florida, feel free to send some of that warm weather up to NY!

Will do. Seriously, I have been borrowing shirts from my mom since the ones I brought with me are for nicer warmer weather. I also know that once I get back to Israel, and especially in the brutal summer months, I'll be begging for some cooler weather.

Less than 48 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last we left off I was unwinding and recuperating from the long flight. Later that same evening we celebrated my niece’s 5th birthday by my parents’ house. My mom decorated the living room with Disney princess decorations. My niece Rachel is a total princess. She has a closet full of all the dresses and she’ll just wear them randomly around her house. This year for Purim (a Jewish holiday that includes costumes), she was Rapunzel. In the pics my sister shared Rachel looks like a life size Tangled doll. And actually speaking of her birthday, I originally had an idea to have all the princesses sign a birthday card, but then my sister suggested to have them all wish her a happy birthday on video. I think that’s doable and she’ll absolutely love it.

On Tuesday, the following day, I baked some hallahs (traditional Sabbath bread) with my mom and we made a bunch of key shaped ones. The Sabbath following Passover it is traditional to bake a key shaped hallah as an omen/symbol for a successful livelihood.

Here’s a pic of me with my key shaped hallah:

Wednesday my mom and I went to Manhattan. I needed a new pair of every day comfy sandals. My old ones I wore for 2 summers and they look worn out. Plus I needed a very good pair of shoes for Disney. After the shoe purchase we walked around Lord&Taylor, looking at all the lovely spring dresses. Such a lovely contrast to the wintery cold weather outside. I absolutely LOVE dresses. Didn’t buy any though because I have some weight to lose and couldn’t justify spending the money at this point. There’s always next year.

We then stopped by a French bakery and split a bell pepper and cheese focaccia, an almond croissant, and a chocolate filled pastry.

My mom recalled that there is an H&M nearby so we stopped there. I wasn’t planning on buying anything but there were some dresses with pretty floral patterns for $10 each so of course I got some. They fit fine although they would look a lot better minus a few pounds/inches.

And since we were already in Manhattan and it was a Wednesday naturally we went to see a Broadway show next. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Broadway shows, musicals in particular, although I have been to the occasional play. I must go see at least one every time I visit. Last time I was in NY, 2 years ago, the day before my flight back, the Tony’s were on. One of the shows caught my eye and I was hoping it would still be around next time I visited. It is. We went to see the show Beautiful – The Carole King Musical. I don’t mind going to shows on my own, but I knew my mom would enjoy it so I told her we would be going together. The show is FANTASTIC. 100% recommended. My mom bought the soundtrack and it is currently playing nonstop in her car.

Thursday was just a day to relax. Bought a few pharmacy items for the trip. Had a much needed pedicure. Spent some time with my nephews.

Today my sister treated me to a manicure. There’s someone she goes to that does really great nail art. And when she heard that I wanted to do something special for Disney, she booked an appointment for me. I looked online for inspiration but while there are some incredible designs out there, none spoke to me. And then last night I finally came up with an idea. The manicurist/nail technician did an incredible job executing my basic idea. Came out even better than what I imagined. I present to you Disney nails fit for a Princess:

I LOVE it! So PERFECT!

That’s that. Tomorrow I’ll be packing and the day after that it’s off to The Most Magical Place on Earth!

I’ll let you know when I start the TR/DR.

Speaking of princesses, I'm just going to leave this here:

Also I've been typing this while sitting in the kitchen and my mom was just like- are you writing a book? Who do you expect would be interested let alone have time to read all this?
Little does she know.....

We can't believe how cold it is here in NYC also. We were using the air conditioner 2 weeks ago - now heat. Crazy.

Enjoy Florida - you are eating such great restaurants. We can't wait to see your trip report. Have fun!

Your nails look great! I hope your new shoes are comfy right off the bat! I've found that Skechers don't take any time to break in for me - others would give me blisters. Have a GREAT TRIP!!

This is my attitude towards the whole dress thing right now. Hopefully by next spring/summer I'll be ready to buy a few!

Thanks! I did actually get Sketchers. Felt like I was walking on air. Hopefully it'll still feel like that after hours of walking around

Oh my goshhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:lovestruc:love::cloud9::goodvibes
LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! I can't stop looking and admiring them.

AHHH! I love them! SO MUCH SPARKLE!!!

Thanks! I do LOVE me some sparkle. Really can there ever be enough?

All packed now. Just about ready to go to bed and attempt some sleep.
My mom helped getting my Magic Band decals on. The collage turned out pretty decent in the end. Didn't take a pic yet, but it's a collage a various flower photos of mine (I have a whole bunch - my fave thing to photograph) , keeping with the theme of Flower & Garden.

Awesome! I got a pair of Skechers Burst about a week before our DL trip and they were super comfortable right off the bat and for all of the walking we did, which was a LOT. I love the memory foam they use in their shoes!

Have a great trip!!

Your key challah is awesome! I've never even attempted the key-shape ... I have enough trouble with braiding, I highly doubt I could figure out shapes. Yours looks great!

Sounds like a fun day with your mom ... although I am baffled by the idea that an Israeli would come to America to buy sandals. You'd think they'd have good sandals in Israel.

Your nails are perfect - I love the bows and the tiaras. So much Disney perfect!!

Have an awesome trip!! I can't wait to read all about it when you get back!!

I'll let you in on a little secret- my challah key was not a braid. It was a bunch of circles attached together.

And re the sandals, I'm just biased. Besides, mom has a L&T card, plus I figured the price would be better here. Also I like the wide variety of selection in one place.

Boarding soon back to NY.
looking through all my photopass pics.
Had a most magical time.
I won't be starting my TR until after I get back to Israel, but will certainly update here once I get that started

Just backtracking to your PTR! Catching up, backwards?

Right? That's the thing - the wide variety in one place! One stop shopping! We have great sandals here in Israel - but you have to schlep to all sorts of different stores to try on different brands. I also like to buy sandals in the States. Though I am also partial to some Israeli brands like Kaya which are soooo comfy. And the fact that Mom's credit card works in the States - well that's a huge plus!
