Bring case of bottled water from WDW?

Equally, it's on a legit disney website that they approve, so if anyone questioned it you can show this as proof...it's more disney affiliated than here...

Just saying, the policy has always been beverages must be carried on. If it was changed, I'm sure they would make a big deal about it.

And that doesn't mean that if their bottles break and get other luggage wet they won't be held accountable for the damage to the other luggage - I've actually seen a "discussion" between officers and a guest because he had put beverages in his checked bags, it had broken, and he was trying to not have to pay for the damage to other luggage around his (and yes, it's obvious which is the luggage causing it).

And just proving the point that "ask again and you'll get another answer", the one here: https://disneyparksmomspanel.disney...-bottled-water-soda-boat-need-checked-333186/ - clearly states it needs to be in carry-on luggage.

"Ahoy, Lynn!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It sounds like you're getting ready to set sail on a voyage aboard Disney Cruise Line! You will have such a wonderful time sailing the high seas with Captain Mickey and his friends. There are so many activities to choose from onboard each of the four vessels. You can pack your days from morning to night!

Disney Cruise Line invites you to bring bottled water and soda onboard for your cruise! You'll need to make sure the bottled water and soda are in their original, sealed packaging and in your carry-on luggage upon arriving to the Cruise Terminal. All carry-on luggage will need to be sent through a scanner before boarding the ship. Staterooms are typically ready between 1:30-2:00 p.m.; depending on your designated Port Arrival Time, your stateroom may not be ready right when you step onto the ship. My family and I usually bring a rolling carry-on bag onboard to make it easier to explore the ship before our stateroom is ready!"

Well it doesn't really matter, because for them they're checking it.

If it gets confiscated or they get in 'trouble' they have this screen shot and the link to the Disney parks website it came from, which is enough info for disney to do something about it take it down if they don't like it.

They won't be made accountable because they got the information from a disney website and habe the proof, so can argue against it.

If they really didn't want people to check it then they should make it a lot more clear and obvious and actually say that when you search for it on their own website, not just talk about alcohol.

I see you found something that states the opposite. But they found one that suits them and will argue that when it probably doesn't even come up.

In the past DCL definitely had language on their website about BEVERAGES (not just alcohol) having to be brought onboard in your carry ons. Trying to find info on specific things on their website is very difficult. Whether there is language currently about beverages other than booze I do not know.

FTR...over the years I have found many pieces of info on the the mom's blog that has been incorrect.

This may be a dumb question, but are we able to bring opened water bottles and/or reusable water bottles on and off the ship? I am thinking of either only bringing refillable bottles or a few bottled waters and refilling them on the ship for excursions. I'd rather not huck a case.

(I thought I just saw the other day on the DCL site that water must be carried on, but now I can't find it)

Thanks!

You can certainly bring on refillable bottles. Just use one of the paper cups provided to refill your bottle - don't put your bottle (or cup) up to the spout.

While I realize the Disney Parks Moms Panel is linked from the official WDW website, unfortunately it is NOT necessarily accurate and Disney will not stand by what is found there. There is this disclaimer at the bottom of the page:
The views expressed in the Panel are those of the panelists, who are independent contractors. These views are not intended to reflect the opinions of Disney Destinations, its affiliates, its management, its agents or its employees and have not been reviewed or approved by Disney Destinations prior to posting.
While I'm sure the majority of information shared on the Moms Panel is good, unfortunately there are some very inaccurate responses at times that never get corrected. The difference between that site and the DISboards is the lack of "discussion" -- there is no ability to follow-up and/or correct wrong info; here on the DISboards when someone inadvertently shares incorrect info, there will be several others who post to correct it.

If the water (or other beverage) is confiscated, and/or if it damages another guest's luggage, the guest with the water will be held responsible. Trying to argue that "the Moms Panel said..." is similar to arguing "I read on the DISboards ..."

Enjoy your cruise!

Yes, you may use your own refillable water bottle (or refill a water bottle you purchase). I will note that at least one port we were in (and, sorry, I can't recall which one it was, but I believe it was somewhere like Costa Rica) we couldn't bring open water bottles onshore from the ship. Had to be sealed. So we bought one bottle from the concessionaire at the gangway (getting off the ship). But that information will be in your Navigator, if applicable. As well as a sign as you get off the ship.

Question! We are staying at a WDW resort before the cruise. I have read DCL will come get your luggage early in the AM. Does anyone know if they will also take a case of bottled water with your luggage? I have heard some bring waters on board but don't know how its done. Will DCL transfer it ( I have heard from some they do but these people I know drove so don't know if that makes a difference) or do people just stuff a few random bottles in the suitcase which I'd rather not do. I will be stuffing my 2 wine bottles already ;) Thanks!

Another option we do is take a small portable water filter and thermal water bottles for the 5 of us to refill. Comes in sooo handy on long excursion days. We use a Berkey filter. Saves us tons of $$$ on trips. Water on board is fine, but filtered is better tasting to us. :cool2:

Um....the water onboard is filtered. Processed the same as most bottled waters (reverse osmosis and filtered).

This is what I would prefer to do but we're flying in so we don't have extra luggage space.

We fly as well. We usually fly in the day before. We rearrange our luggage to free up space in a carry one. Since DCL doesn't have the same 50lb limit that airlines do we can find the room.

"I read on the DISboards ..."

Ahh, I'm sure CM's cringe every time they hear a sentence that begins that way!

This thread made me curious (plus I am procrastinating cleaning house). I looked at DCL's website and like @bbel cannot find anything on there that says all beverages must be in your carry on luggage. It specifies alcohol must be carried on in the alcohol policy and then mentions breast milk in the coolers and food storage rules, but I can't find anything else.

Is it possible that DCL has changed their policy? I certainly hope not. I'd be pretty upset if someone's beverages (even if it's just water it could ruin things) soaked our luggage.

Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place. :confused3

Yes, we know. It's just a preference thing; especially when drinking water from the tap in our stateroom. If someone is going to buy bottled water, then a filter that gives you the same quality of water is a much more economical option for families.

No, when they changed the alcohol policy (and the wordage on the website) they eliminated the "beverages" term and just said "alcohol". I'm also hoping that that doesn't mean that other beverages can be in checked bags.

At the end of the day it's not for me it's for family friends so don't shoot the messenger, lol.

But that's their point. No where on the dcl website does it talk about non alcoholic drinks.

Yes I've read plenty of stuff on moms panel that is wrong, but a first timer doesn't know that, and for them that's the most (affiliated/official) disney info they can find regarding the matter, so they're rolling with it, like I said, don't shoot the messenger.

If dcl don't like it they should unlink it and not promote the moms panel. It has disney parks in the Web adress so just take it down...

What they're taking on is very much unlikely to burst open (capri-suns). But it's all their autistic 5 year old will drink so like I said, they're gonna risk it, along with carrying on as much as possible.

FWIW, CapriSuns are VERY easy to break. I've seen backpacks wet because a kid less than 50 pounds leaned against the backpack on the bus.

Hopefully they aren't on my cruise because I WILL pitch a fit if a sticky, chemical-filled CapriSun pack has broken and ruined my stuff.

Well, avoid the med next month then.

They travel everywhere with them. Ferries, planes, cars, coaches, busses. Never had a problem. I've sat on a bag of them before, they all survived.

Like I said, they're going for it rather than deprive their child of drinks all week. For them it's a lot more than 'I need my own water because ship water tastes a little funny'

Again, don't shoot the messenger!

Just saying...

Especially with something like CapriSun, those would easily fit in carry-on bags and be much lighter than bottled water. If it was that vital to my kid, I personally wouldn't chance it. Do they have a back-up plan if it DOES get crushed or confiscated?

They know they can get them in port if they have to, they just don't want to have to. (They're German, travelling from Germany and know they'll get the 'right' ones all across Europe).
They're pretty well travelled and know what they're doing and what's available.

At the end of the day, they'd still be putting it in checked whether I'd ever posted about it on here or not, sorry if that horrifies anyone...a lot worse has happened at sea in the past...

Hello, everyone....
Just to clairify, I contacted DCL directly. Here's their response (any bolding mine):

Thank you for your email to Disney Cruise Line.

I would be happy to assist you!

Disney Cruise Line does not prohibit Guests from bringing non-alcoholic
bottled beverages, such as water or soda, onboard. All bottles must be
sealed/unopened and fit into your carry-on day bag. Your carry-on bag
must not be larger than 9" x 14" x 22".
Please be aware, Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile
items (including beverages) from checked luggage. Beverage containers

are considered fragile and in checked luggage have caused damage (e.g.
carbonated cans "explode", glass bottles break). For this reason, all
fragile items and beverages must be hand carried onboard the vessel in

your day bag and/or carry-on.
As far as coolers, large coolers may not be brought onboard. However,
small personal-sized coolers for the purpose of housing medications,
baby food, baby milk, or items related to dietary constraints are
permitted to be brought onboard. These coolers can be no larger than 12"
x 12" x 12" and can only contain the above items.

(
And, of course the inevitable disclaimer:)
As always, the above is subject to change without notice.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance with any other inquiries, please feel free to contact us.
