Bring back the good o' days, Things ..........

Remember the Rocky Horror Picture Show? Everyone knew that movie line-by-line with tons of other audience participation. Ah, what fun bringing umbrellas, water guns, rice, toast, party hats, flashlights, toilet paper etc to throw around. And the characters --- Janet, Brad, Frank, Eddie, Riff Raff, Magenta, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Dr. Scott, Columbia, --- And those HUGE lips!!!

"Whoa-oh-oh-ohh At the late-night, double feature, picture show.
I wanna go -- To the late-night, double feature, picture show."

ultraman
johnny socco

am I the only one who enjoyed these :rolleyes1

I don't know Johnny Socco, but I loved Ultraman. Used to rush home from school to watch that, and sometimes the Banana Splits. And explain to me why we remember such trivial stuff, because now the song from Ultraman is stuck in my head.......(Ultraman, here he comes from the sky, Ultraman, watch that hero fly :lmao: )

I love this thread, it is fun to "wax nostalgic".

I LOVE RHPS!!! I've been to see it a few Saturdays...and now if I watch it at home I catch myself saying the audience participation lines with it! "At the late night (early morning) double feature (rocky horror) picture show..."

Getting up and doing the Time Warp...yay for the Time Warp

Rocky Horror...a part of our weird...weird..very weird....culture!

Let RHPS live on! lol

Does anyone remember Space Food Stick snacks? They came in Peanut Butter, Chocolate and Caramel.

I LOVED those!

Dawn

I loved the chocolate ones. I think they were later known as Pillsbury Breakfast sticks and I was sooo disappointed when they stopped making them. Another one of those "space age snacks", along with Tang.

lol, we couldnt get off the school bus fast enough. my sister, my brother and I would literally almost kill each other to get to the tv first :rotfl2:

Marathon bars are now called Curly Wurly and we carry those in our store. Taste GREAT!

We had a van too but it wasn't nearly as pimped out as your was!

GAyle

They still make those candy bars??? OMG!!! Where can I get them..I am a diabetic, but one won't kill me every once in a while.

Yah, that van was pretty pimped out..dad says he could kick himself in the rear everyday for selling it...I guess he misses his naked women...:rotfl:

***Oh and I got tagged twice!! Thanks tag fairy!!!

how about...

Jelly shoes
twist-a-bead necklaces
Captain Kangaroo...loved him!
Yes, I learned all the New Kids on the Block dances with my sister, and performed them for our mom.
Uno
Strawberry Shortcake dolls that blew strawberry scented kisses
Having an "adoption doll" handmade for me, before Cabbage Patch Kids were on the market.
Having my mom fight a lady in Toys R US for one of the first Cabbage Patch Kids.
Wearing layers of scrunchie socks on top of your stirrup pants
Keds
Spiral perms
making my own "acid wash" jeans in the bathtub with Clorox
Rushing home from school to watch Dance Party USA (first place Kelly Ripa was ever on TV)
boys in Z Cavarechie (?) pants
parachute pants
riding in the back deck (above the seat where the speakers are) of my parents car

OOH forgot about stirrup pants and slouch socks...now if you wore that...you were the coolest 2nd grader around....heck yes!

I just noticed that I got a tag!

THANK YOU tag fairy!!!

Perfect gift for me as I head to WDW tomorrow!!!

I wore stirrup pants too with looooong sweaters. Remember the shaker knit sweaters.

I still have my original lite brite and Holly Hobby wall hanging.
Pam

We went to the midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show after prom. You should have seen us getting into the car all dressed up to go to prom with our props. :rotfl:

Who else wore short lyra skirts with leggings underneath? and slouch socks with the black hiking boots? Oh yes, fashion diva was I. :lmao:

twist-a-bead necklaces

I hate those. My kids go to the same grade school I did and there is my picture hanging on the wall for them to see everyday. Me with my twist-a-bead necklace on! What was I thinking?

Everyone talking about hideous vans reminds me of my mom's van when I was in high school. She got a great deal on an Astro minivan. It had captain chairs, actual mini blinds, a tv (before everyone else had them), and was painted with tons of different shades of blue stripes. Everything inside was the same color blue. She loved that hideous van. The really bad thing was that before I got a car, that was the only car I could drive around...definitely not cool. At least there were no naked pictures on it, so I really should not complain!

Loved the Rocky Horror Picture Show, went to NYC several times and participated in all that wonderful crazy fun. :) The best crowds and really funky people.

Did anyone have Domino Rally? My brother and I would set them up all over the house, but could never quite make them like the commercials.

Things I wish my mom never threw out: :sad2:

original Star Wars action figures - I had some, but my brother had so many

Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars- they use to be metal. We have two from the 70's that survived and my two boys get a kick out of them now.

Some of my dolls- I had a whole set of Strawberry Shortcake with all of her friends.

My little people sets - (they were once wooden) I have 4 people, a motorcycle, a bed and a couch from one or two sets.

anyone remember the Chineese shoes craze????

they were black flats with a strap--sometimes embroidered== I lived in mine.

or double belts and when went around your waist and the other hung low.

I wore both the chinese shoes & the double belts. I had black plain shoes & red with embroidery ones. I now have a pair of velvet slippers that I bought because they reminded me of those shoes. :rotfl:

I still think Chinese shoes are way comfortable.

Did anyone else read "The Cheerleader" in high school? I remember our gang passing a copy around...we loved that book; it was set in the fifties but it was about us, too...We skimmed our lit assignments, but pored over that paperback.

Oh, and thank you tag fairy. I am not worthy!

Mary

Does anyone remember putting safteypins with beads on the shoelaces of your sneakers.??:confused3 I think we said they were friendship pins.

Anyone remember hair barretts with ribbon running thru them and then the rest of the long ribbon hanging down with beads on the end??

bonjour jeanes

I also remember chinese slippers and stirrups

Anyone else have knickers (pants)

long sleeve shirts that were tight on your forearm and huge on your upper arm??

And let me add, I used to run home from shool to watch Dancin on Air which was the shoes original name before they changed it to Dance Party USA with Kelly Ripa. And I would dance in front of my TV pretending I was right on TV with everyone.:rotfl:
