Bring back the good o' days, Things ..........

Yeah:rotfl: Now your gonna make me nuts trying to think about the talking one.

You guys beat me to the answers. I never miss a day on the boards and I missed yesterday.

New trivia- Who(what were they called) were the lizard looking people on land of the lost??

What was Cindy's dolls nome on the Brady Bunch??
I think the lizards were slezstacks (SP), but I don't remember the guys name that talked, but I do remember the cave with that weird table that let them see stuff. I never really figured that one out. I loved Land of the Lost, but I had forgotten about Grumpy!
I think Cindy's doll was something Carryall. Ms. Carryall maybe?

New Kids on the Block
My Little Ponies
Cabbage Patch Kids (I had like 5 thanks to several familiy members..remember the "Corn Silk Kids"? They were the one with hair you could actually brush)
The movie "The Last Unicorn"
I loved Shirtails, you could get the little animals at HArdee's. LOL
Mister Rogers was one of my fave shows when I was really little
Video Rock on Saturday nights...we didn't have cable so that was super special
Slamming screen doors when we ran out to play
Sleeping out in the backyard in our playhouse that was about 9 feet off the ground
"Get in Shape Girl" workout gear for kids!!! I was obsessed, too bad I'm not now. LOL

You guys have me reminiscing!!!

This is sooo sad, but i had to look up the talking Sleestak (I know how to spell it now. ) was named Enik. The dinosaur pet was named Dopey.

Land of the Lost fans check out this website: http://www.landofthelost.com/
They even have a sound link and I just heard Chaka, Dopey, Will, Holly and there are more! I could stay busy all day.:lmao:

They had this too:

Marshall, Will and Holly
On a routine expedition
Met the greatest earthquake ever known
High on the rapids It struck their tiny raft (insert screams here)
And plunged them down a thousand feet below
To the Land of the Lost
To the Land of the Lost
To the Land of the Lost

I remember the show, but looking at the pictures has brought back tons of memories. I really need to clean the house instead of looking up Land of the Lost trivia, but I had to find out!:rotfl2:

Does anyone remember the movie " Don't be afraid of the Dark"--

this movie really scared me as a kid---

I remember standing at the doorway of my bedtoom-- running and taking a flying leap onto my bed-- so that those little guys under my bed wouldn't grab my feet.:scared1:

I'm going to have to try and locate a copy -- to watch

Then when I was old enough to drive went to see Steve Perry with Journey and I remember a really "COOL" concert I went to see with Rick Springfield:faint:
openned by Cory Heart( I wear my sunglasses at night Guy)

AAACK! My first concert (I was 14) was Journey with Steve Perry and this new guy, Bryan Adams, opened for them!! At the Meadowlands in NJ.

I am just really glad I saw the original Van Halen on their 1984 tour. I would have married David Lee Roth if I could have.

I had a denim jacket with the 1984 cover airbrushed on the back. It was my Sweet 16 present from my grandmother. My dad bought me a white leather motorcycle for my 16th birthday, too. The airbrushed album covers on the backs of jackets were really big in my High School!

I've heard that Land of the Lost has somewhat of a cult following! I used to love that show. DH downloaded a few episodes for the kids so they could see what we used to watch with the horrible graphics and such. I thought DS would like the Sleestack but he wasn't that interested. My favorite episode was when Holly went into the tree trunk (time machine) and it took her forward to the 70's time-frame. The tree opened up and there was a park with kids playing! Holly didn't know if she should walk out or not because she didn't have her dad and brother with her. She ended up catching a frisbee that someone threw and then the tree trunk closed back up. Holly went back to the Land of the Lost. "Poor Ar-ee" as Chakka used to say.

My first concert was in the Spring of 8th grade....I think it was 1983....I saw Rick Springfield with a bunch of my friends. My dad dropped us all off, and then picked us up again after the concert. He had no patience....4 screaming 8th grade girls in the Plymouth Satellite station wagon....not really his thing. My mom volunteered him to do it! :lmao:

I think the tickets were like $15 or something....Nowadays, my DH and I can't afford to go to any concerts together!

These have been some fun memories. I had a few that I don't think have been mentioned yet:

Toughskin jeans (from Sears) - man those things wore like IRON (it was so hard to bend your knees)

Satin shorts with matching satin jackets.

Girl Scout camp - and all of the songs (Great green globs of greasy grimy gopher guts anyone?)

The Bay City Rollers

Kaptain Kool and the Kongs on Saturday morning television. They were in the breaks between shows like Dr. Shrinker, Elektra Woman and Dynagirl

The Solid Gold Dancers - 'nuff said

Reading "Are you there, God? It's me, Margaret" and chanting we must, we must increase our bust.

Does anyone remember Garanimals? My mother used to love buying those for my baby brother. They were a line of clothing and they were all color coordinated by animals.

David Lee Roth was my idol! My bedroom wall was plastered with pictures of him where no wall was showing. I saw VH in concert 4 (original band) times and got to meet DLR when I won a radio prize that included a limo ride, dinner and back stage passes (that was when he was solo).

My first concert was Kansas and Sniff 'n The Tears was the opening band("Driver's seat --ooo ooo ooo, Driver's Seat"). I have a bank bag full of concert ticket stubs. I think I have about 80 of them!!!

Some of mine:

Baby Alive
real wood Tinker Toys
King Vitamin -- you could paint on the back of the box!
Trick-or-treating, without x-raying the candy.
before-lunch prayer at school
riding my bike all over -- I also had the banana seat and the flowery basket

Cheap little league ball!! We bought matching t-shirts, and baseball cleats. We didn't need batting helmets! Also, our Moms made our cheer outfits, and group pictures were everybody huddled together and some parent with a Polaroid!

Uno! was a new game.

We were happy when Mom & Dad went out to a "nice" restaurant and brought us home a sack from McDonald's or Hardees.

If we got in trouble at school, we got a spanking when we got home.

Mom cooked almost every night.

Couldn't wait for the Wonderful World of Disney.

Flipper!

Romper Stompers

Frozen pizza was a treat.

Was it Oliver on the Brady Bunch?

Did anyone else have a Baby Beans? Hot pink dressed doll stuffed with beans. I found mine in my cedar chest last week. I loved her. My daughters weren't impressed.

What about the doll named "Velvet" who wore a velvet dress and her hair grew when you pushed her belly button and you could make her hair short again with a dial on her back?

I was born in 1967.

Yes...I had a Baby Beans doill...so did my sister!!! And I posted earlier about Chrissy and Velvet dolls...loved those. My mom made us all kinds of clothes for them. I'm going to have to ask my sister, I think she might still have hers hidden away.

I saw VanHalen then too at the Nassau Collesium and then at the Meadowlands...what memories...I don't think I could have been any more in love with Eddie VanHalen!!!

We always wore our satin shorts and jackets on Friday and Saturday nights to go rollerskating at "the rink"...too funny
The baycity rollers S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y NIGHTS...:lmao: yup I so remember them!

Driving to Augusta GA to go shopping on Sunday afternoons because the stores were closed in SC but open from 12:00 - 6:00 in Georgia.

Those little plastic knitting spool toys, you could knit a tube which usually became a barbie dress when I made one.

My first taste of fast food - A KFC in Augusta.

Going to Myrtle Beach and walking along the beach three miles from the campground where we stayed on an oceanfront site for $7 a night to the pier in Surside, alone, and the beach was nothing but beach. No condos, etc.

Camping at Fort Wilderness in WDW for less than $10 a night.

Driving all night to get there, my sister and I sleeping for most of the trip.

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

Going to my grandparent's house to watch Bonanza in color (they were the only ones with a color tv)

Walking alone to ballet class after school from the 3rd grade on.

My first Icee - at the Dime Store

No pool - putting on bathing suits and soaking each other with the water hose, later getting a Slip and Slide.

The milkman delivering to the house and only being able to get eggnog the week before Christmas. My absolute joy when the milkman would leave a carton of chocolate milk.

Being able to buy a Coke, a package of Lays, and a Reese's for 25cents.

Chatty Cathy - my favorite doll
