Bridge to BLT only open to DVC members

We always wondered what happened to the lounge that was promised at BWV. One CM tried to tell us it was never built. So it's called the Attic and can be rented, is that it?

It's definitely used. I stayed in room 3002 one time (last room before Jellyrolls) and there was a party in there one night. It was a group, I can't remember the name, but it sounded like a convention.

definitely!

my guide went on how wonderful it was.

though the first week of opening - we did get it - but shortly all the signs were taken down.

my guide did not even mention the lounge at the BLT@ Cr.... that to me says that she also remembers BWV.

somebody was sueing Disney over their use of something that members had pay for - but don't know what happen to his lawsuit.

The booklet that was put out the day after the announcment states "The Top of the World Lounge and oabservation area are not part of the time-share plan. Limited acess is based upon availability and may be terminated"

I wouldn't count on being able to use it despite what the guides are telling you.

I remember doing a tour as a CM (it was a private tour just for CMs) and at that time, the "Attic" was being used as a major selling point.
I hope the Lounge at Bay Tower remains just for the reason it was built and not rented out to private parties.

What if you are a BCV owner and staying at BLT on points? :confused3

Nope. He said you have to own BLT and and be staying there at that time. I'm pretty sure our guide is pretty high up there status wise, so I hope he knows what he's talking about!

our four year old likes the slide at the contemp. pool now, I hope that we can use it.

I am sure he knows what he is talking about now, but Disney is famous for changing things after the fact.

I agree Sammie. Besides, there is a thing as reciprocity and if DVC were to start excluding access based on where you own, not on where you are staying, that could go both ways.

I know BLT owners want exclusivity, but do you really want to be confined to your own resort? I know I would not, not with those point charts!:scared1:

Just saying if DVC were to prevent a member staying at BLT on points from having access to a lounge because they were NOT a BLT owner, that would cause an extremely loud uproar.

If you stay at BCV using VWL points, you still expect to be treated like a member and have full access to amenities. All members pay dues to maintain their respective resort(s) so that all members can use them.

That is definitely a slippery slope and that guide might be high up, but high on what is the question;)

Besides, how would they control access? Run your member card thru MS to verify you do not own BLT points. Owners get a different key? Im just wondering:confused3

Yes, that was my question as well. I can't see how it could be limited to BLT owners only.

My thoughts as well. Given that the info given out by one guide about exclusive use of the bridge from the Tower is also contradicted by public documents, it seems like some guides are getting just a little over anxious in their sales pitches! -- Suzanne

Well, our guide told us this well after the sale was made. It just appeared to be the info that she was given. Guess time will tell...:confused3

And if BLT pool is restricted just to guests staying at BLT will they be restricted from CR pool ?
?

One of the perks of being a DVC member is pool hoping, including pools of not DVC resorts, excluding, so far, Stormalong bay and the pool at Animal kingdom. So far, any DVC member is able to use the CR pool, regardless of where they are staying. Unless they include new restrictions for both CR and BLT, I don't see why BLT guests wouln't been able to use the CR Pool.

Now, when the BLT documentation first became available for read (some months ago, I don't remember when) I think I read that both BLT and CR would share certain things, such as the monorail, restaurants, stores and the pools. Maybe they had a change of mind? I guess we will have to wait until they publish the pool hoping rules for BLT

Well I think it's a given that things like the Monorail, restaurants are stores are some things they have no control over, so it's seems weird that those things would be listed how they can be shared between regular Contemporary guests and those staying in Bay Lake Tower. Plus all of those things were there before Bay Lake Tower.

Now this is just my own personal opinion but if Bay Lake Tower guests can use the pool in the regular Tower which I assume will be able to happen, then wouldn't it make sense to let Contemporary guests use the one at Bay Lake Tower if they had to show their KTTW cards to gain entry? I am going to say again that the DVC Cast Member I spoke with said the Bay Lake Tower pool should be considered an amenity for both set of guests because it's still located at the Contemporary, just like the DVC pool in the Villas section at the Wilderness Lodge. So those were her words which means I am just saying what I was told.

Well he had said BLT owners staying there would get a voucher with the dates of their stay in order to gain access to the lounge. I know the key to the world keys say DVC member, but I wonder at checkin if it tells them where you own? :confused3 Who knows. I guess only time will tell.

Yes, but the villas at WL came along after the WL was built, I believe? And, the WL pool belongs to the resort section. The BLT pool will be built for DVC. The CR resort already has a pool. It makes sense that if you're not DVC, you don't get to use the DVC facilities.

Well since were all getting different answers about the pool situation I guess the best thing is to wait and see until Bay Lake Towers opens, then we will know for sure.

We bought our BLT points yesterday and our guide told us that there would be no pool hopping allowed at the BLT pool and that it would only be for guests at BLT and not those staying at CR. If this is the case, my guess is that they'll have a wristband system similar to Stormalong Bay and that you'll only get access if your room key says DVC member. (Guests at the CR wouldn't have DVC member on their key) but with all things DVC I'll believe it when I see it :goodvibes

It is possible that it will be restricted to owners on a current stay only. However, it's also quite possible that the guide "mis-spoke"---remember, your guide is trying to sell you something, and may sometimes "mis-speak".

If this were an important feature to me, I'd want to see that restriction in writing.

you are correct - read it myself.

so don't count on using that lounge or the observation area. It may not happen for members at all.

of course since we are now talking about that - maybe this time DVC will let us kept it.

only close it for parties - but otherwise let the members and guests use it.

wouldn't that be wonderful!:woohoo:

the observation deck - can we go up there any time - love looking at the MK at dusk - when its lights come up - not to mention - GF and Polyn.

don't think we can see the polyn - but should be able to see GF.

When you compare access to the BLT pool to access to Stormalong Bay, it makes me wonder if DVD is concerned that the new pool is too small for BLT and access needs to be restricted to keep it from being too crowded. Anyone seen any statistic about how large the BLT pool is and what its capacity is?

Nah, we were already sold. We were waiting for this and called him to tell him we wanted to add on. He saw we were there 2 weeks before and he spent a good 40 minutes talking to us about BLT, how our recent vacation was, life, etc. We love our guide!
