Okay, so I wanted to know what you took on the plane with you for the day of the wedding? I was taking my dress on board with me and I am hoping to take my shoes, teara, vail, and undergaments. Pretty much anything I would ware the day of the wedding I want to take on board with me. Have any of you had a problem taking this stuff on board with you? I called the airline and they said it was okay to bring my dress, they could hand it up. Any problem with secerty?

I took my dress and jewelry on the plane with me - no problems. I don't think any of the other stuff would be a problem, either. :goodvibes

I work for TSA, and can tell you you will not have an issue getting through checkpoint with anything you have listed.

Just know, that you will have to fold your dress, and place in a plastic bin momentarily while they X-ray it.

Make sure to have a full dress bag for your wedding gown! We had no problems getting my dress through security, however, it would have been very dirty had I not had it in the zippered bag as the security conveyor belts left black marks on the dress.

I was told by Travel City Direct that this wasn't allowed to be done. I wasn't allowed anything except my one piece hand lugguage, I had to put my dress in a suitcase and send it to the hold of the airplane. Once on board the air flight crew found out that I was getting married and they said I could have brought it on board. I think it depends on what airline and who you speak to. I would get it in writing before flying, just incase anyone questions it.

I took all that stuff on the plane w/ me. It was a pain lugging the dress through the airport but no problem w/ security :thumbsup2

Thanks eveyone. I hope getting through LAX isn't going to be to bad. We are leaving at night, so I plan on getting there early incase there is any problems.

I have a garment bag for my dress and my bridesmaids. I will be taking these as my carry-on and then putting the tiara and jewellry in the carry-on bag my fiance is bringing. We'll see how it all works out saturday morning!

I traveled with my wedding dress to California from Chicago and if I could do it all over again, I would have paid to have it shipped to my hotel (we shipped it home) It was a pain to lug it around the airport, and even worse when we had to get our other bags.

We just got married last week in Vegas, and I had no problems carrying on my dress on to a Southwest flight. I put everything you are planning on taking into my garment bag. I was a little afraid it wouldn't fit through the x-ray machine, but the guys there were very nice, and assured me it would fit, and it did. As we were entering the plane the guy taking my ticket and also a flight attendent inside the plane both told me to hold onto my dress until the plane was completly boarded, and then they came and took my dress and put it in an empty overhead compartment. They said this works better than putting it in and having everyone shove their carry ons in the compartment with it.

Good luck and don't worry. You should have no trouble getting it through the airport.

That's good news! I am flying Southwest and I was afraid I would not be able to carry the dress on. Congrats on your wedding! :cool1:

To answer the OP, I am carrying on my dress and the groomsmen and bridesmaids gifts. We got them tickets to Disney and Universal and some cute bags and small tolietries so I want to have them available when we land. I am going straight to their hotel (using ME) to check in for them and leave the gifts in their room. Our checked bags will get delivered straight to our hotel so we won't have them. DF will be lugging the laptop (it's a 6 hour flight...we need the computer).

Oh thanks eveyone. It helps to hear it all worked out for you. Because I can just see standing in LAX and them saying, I am sorry you can't take that with you. Oh that would be horiable.

Thanks again.

What type of garment bag did you use? All of the ones that I have been looking at so far seem to be larger than the dimensions Southwest allows for carry-ons.

I just used the typical white garment bag that came with my dress from David's bridal. I didn't even look at the dimensions prior to flying. I figured worst case scenerio I could fold it up to fit since I knew I was having it steamed before the wedding.
