Bride-to-be's totally confusing PJ - Beach towel design =o)

Hi
Yes my name is Judy :goodvibes

Thank you for your kind comments, both of you.

Lets hope your plan comes together...maybe if you are unable to switch cruises , then pehaps I can at least illustrate that sometimes a little thinking "outside of the box" can really turn up something really special...and something that you can really feel happy with.

To be honest with you, alot of what really made my wedding, was all the my own special touches that I bought to it myself anyway, which could be done where ever the wedding is held ......and I can see from your earlier posts that you are already a grand master at that !!

Best of luck for the future :goodvibes.....for the planning,... the wedding .....and beyond.....and just remember that the only really important detail to any wedding, is that you both turn up LOL !!!!

Judy - did anyone ever tell you your DH looks like Dave Matthews?? I did a double take to make sure you weren't his wife Ashley!!

When we were planning ours, someone told me that you can have a ceremony on the beach in Nassau, but the idea of getting off the ship and getting back on sends me into a panic attack! I didn't even get off in Nassau on both stops.

But that Grand Cayman ceremony looks amazing!! Almost as nice as mine (but I may be a bit bias!!:rotfl2::rotfl:)

LOL ...no.... but I had to look up who Dave Matthews was as he's not well known here in the UK.

....next time we are over in the US and there's a bunch of photographers snapping in our faces I'll know why :rotfl2:

PS your wedding pictures look fabulous too !!

I have been reading you PJ for a while now. I just wish you all the best planing and I am sorry about all the headaches you have had already. I used to work on a cruise ship and that's just to bad his family does not want to leave the kids with the Kids Club. We had kids who wanted to spend all their time with kids club there parents had to make them leave. But I am sure everything will work out perfectly in the end.

Thanks Ann! I am sure the kids would never want to leave the kids clubs! Its just the parents who I think are uneasy about the seperation. I am hoping they all go to the open house the first night and the parents decide its ok to leave the kids for a bit.

We shall know a lot more soon!

Just caught up on you PJ and you most certainly have a lot going on.

I love all your ideas. I just think you are trying to do a lot. You want to enjoy your ceremony and not have to worry about getting to the boat on time. I say just were your dress, some of the dresses I have seen on disboards have been formal and beautiful and on DCL.

You need to remember that this is about you and your DF. You will never please everyone, I know, I am the same way and I eventually just had to stick to my guns on somethings (like when my FMIL tried to tell me that Las Vegas would be better than PR for our wedding).

You are being nice enough to pay for everyone to go on the cruise, just make sure you are getting what you want as well.

Okay I will get off my soap box.

I hope your trip will give you some answers and that you have fun!

Look forward to hearing more!

Thanks for finding the mini cake!! Also just wanted to tell you thanks again for letting me steal your talking Mickey Invites. I found some Mickeys on sale and just got the big box of them in yesterday.

YAY for the mickeys! I am glad you liked them so much! The group agc sound (i think was the name) was really really easy to work with and very straight forward. I would highly recommend them for the little recorder gizmos.

I am kind of dissapointed about the little cakes. I remembered they were only 1 tier but thought they were more mad hatterish and less hippyish... Hopefully they can come up with some really cool mini mad hatter cakes! I can try to ask about it at francks if you want.

Ok! Cassie, I just got caught up on more of your pj. I am going to offer you my opinion on some things. Do what you will with it! :lmao:
I am really hoping that you can do the castle wedding still, and then just relax on the cruise. When I talked to Karen at DPS, she said that they are trying to do portions of the castle at a time, so that they can shoot around it, etc. So maybe, we can find out more if they might be working on the back of the castle, when you are getting married.

Also, as many times as I've been there - where is Swan Landing? Do you have a picture of it?

Is it that spot by the rose garden inbetween the castle and tomorrow land? If so, you might be safe as long as they aren't working on the front of the castle.

Also, GF is gorgeous for a reception - I don't care what time of day it is.

Cake in the morning is the best breakfast. Didn't you ever listen to Bill Cosby? Go for the big cake!

The castle cake topper is gorgeous! I wouldn't put sugar on it to look like a sand castle. Have them do that to the cake instead.

Also, if you do get married at the castle, there are some great photographers at Disney. Take a look at their work and request your favorite. Some are not great, but there are some. Plus we all have our off days! Don't believe everything you read. Judge for yourself.

And last but not least - wear the big dress!!!!!! :rotfl:It's gorgeous!!
I don't care if you are on the beach or in a field or at the castle. You should be a princess on your wedding day. Some of my favorite pictures are when the bride and groom where formal attire on the beach. I'll post some for you for inspiration if you need it! And who cares what the guests wear. I love beach weddings. (I would love a castle wedding more if I could afford it, but I need to win the lottery first! :rotfl:)

Keep us posted on your updates.

I am so sad about the castle. Our coordinator said that he strongly recommended that we stay away from the MK. The construction is starting on the back I guess so they will be working on the front I assume in the end of Jan.

I told him that I was really looking forward to the castle site visit, but at the same time I trusted his opinion and didn't want to waste his time. So I am really hoping we can still do it (just so that I can at least see all of the details), but at the same time I feel kind of guilty since his time is so precious. So who knows - I will post next friday and let you guys know if we saw it or not.

And yes its that thing btw the rose garden and tomorrowland. But we were specifically trying to get it moved away from there. So perhaps we could move it to be the opposite side of whatever side they are working on!!

Swan Boat Landing looks like this - and I didn't know what they were referring to either in the beginning and I have been there hundreds of times.

I googled imaged searched and when I went to copy and paste the address - I saw it was from Lurkyloo's photobuck album :lmao:

If we did the castle we would probably skip the sandcastle cake or have it on the ship.. not sure.

So in short everything is going to depend on the site visits. Hopefully everything should be settled by the time we get back! I have stated many times I refuse to leave the world until its done - otherwise I will never get sleep again.. :rotfl:

Good luck on your planning. Soak up every minute and enjoy! I can't wait to see what you decide! :surfweb:

Ok so a new dilema. I thought we had everything figured out and somewhat settled that we were just going to have the ceremony on the CC beach and save the cake and champagne and everything else and do a big reception at WDW the day the cruise ends.

We had dinner with my mom last night and she is super against the idea. She claims that people are going to want to fly home instantly after the cruise ends and not stay at disney (even if we are providing the hotel). She gave me this whole big speal about how time off from work is precious and how everyone would feel obligated to stay and attend our reception when no one would really want to! :scared1::mad:

The cruise ends on a Thursday - so instead of people flying home midday thursday we would be asking them to stay one extra night so they could leave on Friday am. I sort of figured that most people would take friday off from work anyway and stay through the weekend.

She speciifically pointed out that two of her friends (hers not mine) were taking their only vacations for the year in order to come and that they specifcially wouldn't want to stay the extra day.

My mom is so feed up about the fact that we can't do a dinner reception on the boat. She keeps trying to talk us into moving the whole thing away from disney and doing a different destination.

So what do we do? Do you think we could make the reception optional on the invite? What do you guys think?

I don't think you should organise this wedding to suit your mother (or her friends for that matter) - organise it to suit yourself - it is YOUR wedding and you don't have to compromise with anyone but your DH2B !!

good luck :goodvibes

WOW! Well to me it seems that you have catered your entire wedding to fit everyone else---it may be time to put your foot down. If I were invited--from what I have read you are paying for their room and cruise--I would stay. Yes, they have taken vacation time--no one forced them to. I am afraid if you make it optionial--people might decide not stay on that day and just head home---maybe not since flights are invloved. I like the way you have it set-----the only other optioin would to have a reception back home at a place there----and from what I have read that is not what you want. These are your memories, not theirs. They will forget, you will not. Time for you to decide who to make happy and I feel that you owe it to yourself and your DF.

I agree, if that's what you want to do. . .DO IT! I mean how much can they really complain when you are being kind enough to pay for the cruise and an extra night at a hotel, they can wait one day to go home.

From someone who had to compromise a lot (and forego Disney all together) , do what YOU want and have no regrets.

Are still planning on doing the Studio Sea reception? I know the tables are small, but that would give you the reception.

How are they setting you up for dinner? I am sure your reservations are linked but does your mother know you will not all be at the same table? We had a group of over 30 with both Cat 1's and they put us all in the same area, but we had 4 or 5 tables. They could not push the tables together.

Cassie,

Please decide what you and your DH want to do and then do it. You will regret it if you do not. :goodvibes It is not your mother's wedding, it is your wedding. Sorry to sound crass, but she already had her wedding. Also, do you really care if two of your mother's friends can't come to the reception? :confused3 For me, that would not be a deal breaker. When you have done everything to accomodate these people (paying fro cruise hotel etc.) then you can't do anymore and you shouldn't feel bad if they make the choice not to stay for the reception. :thumbsup2
I am not intending to sound harsh with this post. :flower3: It just seems that trying to please everyone is giving you so much unnecessary stress. The problem is that you will never be able to please everyone and you shouldn't be trying to. Be reasonable in your accomodations (you are being more than reasonable, so no worries there) and do what YOU want. :woohoo: It is your day not your guests' day and if any of them object to you not aquiescing to their every need they are being very selfish.

Good luck! :wizard:

I agree with everyone else its your wedding. Do what you want to do. You are being so nice to everyone already for paying for like everything for them. Not very many people do this for their guest. They are just being selfish in my opinion for everything you are doing for them they should be flexible. You need to think about yourself although it sounds mean you will be happy in the long run. Do not let everyone stress you out this shoudl be a very happy time for u!!;)

Thanks everyone! I feel a lot better. I just talked to my uncle - and he said he was planning to take the whole week off from work and that he thought the idea of doing an extra day at disney was fantastic. So phew. At least one family coming will be happy =o). I know the wedding is all about us - but at times I really worry because I think in one sense that I don't want to over schedule people - but then I think its our wedding we can do as we wish. I just want everyone to have a blast and not be disapointed or feel inconvenienced. I am sure this is the kind of thing my mother will get over and have to deal with but in some ways I kind of feel like she raises a good point - which really scares me.

And no I really don't like Studio Sea esp. for dinner at 4pm. I told our coordinator that I thought it could be really cool if we could decorate it and make it look like a real reception and less like studio sea. But she said we could only have floral done from the florist. The tables in there I dont' think are really big enough to hold people eating dinner let alone added flowers. So the only negative about all if it is that I am kind of bummed about not doing anything to celebrate the day of.

Our latest thought is that we could just have cake and champagne in the roy suite before dinner (b.c I don't think disney could have too much control and say no :)) I am just not sure that even if everyone was standing that we would all fit in there. I have looked at lots of pics online but its really hard to get a feel for the size of the space.

Then maybe we could just do mini cakes at the dessert party instead of a big one!! =o)

I can say with almost 100% certainty that 60 people will NOT fit in the Roy

We had 15 or 20 at one point and it was tight. There is the dining room and the parlor, but you are not going to have people in either bedroom hanging out..I would ask if they could set the cake up in one of the lounges or on deck. 60 (even 30) people is a lot to put in a small area.
