Hi everyone,

For those who did a bridal portrait session (MK or other) the morning of their wedding, how did it feel? Did it bother you that you weren't seeing each other for the first time when you came down the aisle? I am a fairly traditional person, but I have broken quite a few traditions with our wedding. Because of Night of Joy construction, it looks like we are going to have to do our shoot on our wedding day, and I think I am okay with it, but I would just like some feedback from brides who have already done this, mainly for some peace of mind.

Thanks for your help!

I have and will not be having a MK bridal photoshoot but I think it could be lovely - being in the park on your own, just the two of you without the guests and family will be magical and I would look at it as having some special, private and romantic time together on your special day. I also think having it on your wedding day could give the pic's more meaning rather than getting dressed in your wedding clothes for photo's on a day that is not your wedding.

I agree. Although we did our MK shoot on a later day, we did see each other before the ceremony for what is called a "staged first look": Our photographers caught us on camera as we saw each other for the first time in a quiet corner of the lobby of my hotel.

To me it was far more romantic and intimate than being up at the altar wishing we could talk to each other about our first impressions but having to wait through the entire ceremony. We had a few moments to just be alone together before the whirlwind started, and they were among the best of the day. :goodvibes

Here's a shot of my DH when he turned around and saw me for the first time:

I have heard of the Disney photographers doing this for couples before the MK shoot—just tell your Disney Photo contact you want to do it, and she'll help you work out the details.
:thumbsup2

I am very blessed to be married to a man who cries more than I do! :teeth:

Thanks for the input everyone! We ended up changing our shoot to be on the wedding day, and I am really excited for it!

We changed ours to our wedding day too...I didn't want to pay the extra for the floral refresh and hair/makeup, or get up that early later in the week. I'm pretty excited about it, as it gets it all done on that day, as well....I'm excited to spend the morning of the most special day ever hanging out in the parks bright and early with the person I will be marrying just a few hours later!

I will cut in with my opinion as I just came back from our wedding. We did it 2 days after the wedding because we really wanted to be traditionL but also because I knew we would wilt throughout the day with such a long day ahead of us.

The day of my MK shoot Patricia lejeune came to our room at 4am and got to work. It's a long day if you plan on going all day and night for a DP or something like that. Patricia was telling me a story about a previous bride she had who did the MK shoot the morning of the wedding and had a day full of events ending in a DP. The bride ended up having to call Patricia midday and have her come back to redo and retouch bc her hair didn't make it nor did her makeup from 4am.

I'm glad we did the MK shoot after because that's tiring all on it's own. Yes, you drive right in to the park but you're trekking around it in your heels and dress and are outside in the elements. My hair did not make it past the shoot because it was so hot and humid even at 6am. My makeup was perfect but I would not have been happy with continuing on to my ceremony and reception with the way I looked.

Just think about this and maybe let your hair and makeup person know so that they can be available later in the day for a retouch.
