The parade was over, and Liberty Tree still wasnt open yet. We were so dog tired, we just sat on the front steps and played with our iPhones with glazed looks on our faces until it was time to go in.
All the servers at Liberty Tree had painted their faces for the
MNSSHP, and it was a pretty festive atmosphere that evening.
This was a GREAT place to eat. I love the family style all you can eat Thanksgiving dinner. It was so delicious! They even gave us a big cupcake with a candle in it for our anniversary. That was a totally awesome surprise!
Ill take a moment to note here that we wore our 10 year anniversary buttons all week, and EVERYONE was congratulating us and wishing us a happy anniversary ALL WEEK LONG! CMs
guests
everyone
at almost every turn
sometimes every few feet! Even CMs in the parades were congratulating us! It was so much fun. It really was a constant reminder of why we were there. It never felt much like a vacation
it felt more like an 8 day celebration. If you are planning on celebrating something, take my advice, and wear the button. If Im there, I will return the favor and congratulate you! It was so special and fun for us. When we go back, I will definitely be passing along well wishes to anyone with a button, because I know how special it was for us on our trip.
Anyway, after dinner, it was almost time for the MNSSHP to begin, so the park was closing to us regular folk. Good-bye Disney. (**Insert sentimental tears of mixed joy and sadness here**)
After we left MK and picked up my laptop at POR, we went to check in at the Waldorf Astoria. We wanted to end our trip somewhere fancy. We stayed at the Waldorf for the last evening of our vacation as sort of a "Grand Finale." I thought about staying at a Deluxe resort for one night, but after extensive research, we found we could stay at the Waldorf for much less money (through our
travel agent). Plus the hotel is WAY nicer than any of the Deluxe resorts. It was dazzling!
When we walked in, I felt totally out of place. It was a gorgeous, pristine hotel, and I was sweaty from the heat, tired beyond all reason, hair a mess from the wind, in shorts and flip flops, and generally looking bedraggled. The gentleman at the front desk was incredible friendly and nice to us. He found out it was our 10 year anniversary, and upgraded us to a king room on the 11th floor facing Epcot in one direction and Hollywood Studios in another direction. It was amazing!
I can't say enough great things about this hotel. Everyone from valet to bell hop to room service were falling all over themselves to meet our every need or possible wish. We didn't know what to do with that much customer service! I did feel a little bit like a country girl in a big fancy place, but I got over myself pretty quickly
This is a picture of the lobby. It is very dazzling as you walk through the doors
This is the Peacock Lounge around the corner from the lobby...
This was the bed... EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE!! I was in heaven... seriously.
This was our room on the 11th Floor...
Here are 2 shots of the bathroom (not pictured is the shower, which was also exceptional)... P.S. I would have probably lived in that bathrobe if DH had let me. LOL!!!
Here is a view from one side of the window (you can see the castle beyond Spaceship Earth). We were able to see Wishes and Illuminations at night. Not pictured is the other side of our view, which looked out towards HS.
This is the hallway outside our room...
We got up to our room, and were like 2 little kids in a candy shop
running through the hotel room yelling to each other about all the great stuff there (definitely not acting proper or "well bred" HAHA!). Brett wanted to go see the rest of the hotel, but I was so tired, I just stood in the hot luxurious shower forever. Then I crawled into the heavenly bed and never wanted to leave it. Brett dragged me out long enough to sit by the window and watch both Illuminations and Wishes, which was really nice. Then I face planted back into the bed.
Brett wasnt giving up on the idea of experiencing all the hotel had to offer
even with a comatose wife. He ordered room service and woke me up in the middle of my dead sleep to try the food. I had some sort of burger. I think I remember it was really tasty, but seriously
how well can you enjoy food when youre half asleep?! I pushed the tray away and fell back asleep on the amazing fluffy cloud of a pillow. I think Brett stayed up watching TV and eating the room service food for awhile. He was probably disappointed that he lost me
but I just couldnt stay conscious at that point even if my life depended on it.
The next morning we had planned to sleep in, but my father had patiently watched my kids for 9 days and really needed to be relieved of his duty. We left around 5am and began the long drive back home. As soon as we reached the highway, Brett started coughing really bad. It turned into a month long battle with a mysterious cough that wouldnt go away no matter what the doctors tried. It eventually cleared up, thankfully! If youre looking at the glass half empty, he got a nasty illness in Disney. If youre looking at the glass half full, he didnt get sick until we left, so the trip wasnt affected. Haha!
This was a truly incredible trip that I will never ever forget. Sure we were scoffed at for going to Disney without the kids, but it really is a totally different experience with just adults. There is so much to do! After we got home, I just couldnt bear the thought that it was over. Plus I felt slightly guilty that the kids hadnt gotten to go. So we booked the free dining promo for January and surprised the kids with it on Christmas morning!!
And that is why I must close the book on this trip report. Because we leave in 2 days for the kid-friendly trip, and its time to make some new memories!!!!!
Thanks for the romance, Disney! See ya real soon!!
The end.
