Brendan's Big Boom MAW trip to Disney!

Just wanted to check in....still waiting on dates. Hopefully in a few days

Joining along... Love the pic of your kids, they are just precious.

Sounds like you have one strong little man on your hands. YAY! for a waterproof cast. Hope you guys get at least a little bit of a "normal" summer now. Can't wait to hear you have dates.... Y'all planning on doing the Not So Scary Halloween since you'll be there in October?

Looking forward to reading and seeing more pics! :)

Thanks for joining along! Brendan is definitely a strong little boy.

WE actually have been doing things and using the sprinkler, etc because of the waterproof cast. They are so nice! He still can't walk far, but luckily he is still little and dh can carry him on his shoulders.

I am really thinking about doing the MNSSHP while we are there. I will definitely do it if we are there on dd's birthday. Have you been to one before? I am curious if everyone dresses up or if I can use halloween clothing and that would suffice? If everyone dresses, then I will dress the kids, but I would rather have 4 less items to pack :)

As for status update, we are still waiting. We didn't hear last week about dates, so I am hoping this will be the week! I really want to start planning!

Ok...I have to go get the kids breakfast, but here is a real quick picture. This is Brian and Brendan at Trophy Day for Brendan's Competitive Miracle League Game. This is a team that allows kids with physical and emotional disabilities play a modified baseball game. They are quite proud that their team went undefeated for the first half of the season. We are on break now because it is hard for some of the kids to play in the heat, but will start back up again in August.

As for dh..he is a big kid at heart and heavily involved in the Miracle League. He was there while they were building it and has played various roles. Right now he coaches a team of kids with moderate to severe disabilities in the Miracle Division and he runs the Competitive Division and also coaches my son's competitive division team. It is a lot to do with his work and travel schedule, but he loves it. He loves being able to give the gift of baseball to these kids and these kids smiles make it all worth it to him. As for Brendan, he loves playing. He wants so much to be able to play like his brother and the competitive division really helps him to play. Unfortunately, he couldn't play competitive for the past year because of his surgeries, but did manage to be well enough to play the last game and was so excited to be part of it. During the time he was off, we did find out that he loves and is very good at announcing the games on the loud speaker. Although he is only ten, in the fall, he may volunteer as an announcer! Ok...enough rambling...here's the pic!

And here is one more.....

I told you a little about Brian and Brendan, but the boy to the left is my oldest son Nolan. He is now 12 but he has been volunteering and coaching with my husband both teams since he was ten. He never misses a game (unless he has baseball). He begged to help volunteer and loves doing it and I am so proud of him. He is so good with the kids. If he see them at school or out and about, he high fives them and talks to them and tells them he can't wait to see them at the field that weekend. He is a very caring young boy who also makes a huge difference in a ton of kids lives during baseball season. And well, the lady to the right is my sister-in-law, who is a buddy and helps the kids stay safe and play! We have been lucky to have her volunteer since the start!

Great pictures!!! Love the baseball league and how your family gets really involved- esp your older son! That is great!!

As for MNSSHP- we went and the kids dressed up. Lots of adults did too! It was lots of fun! I think DS who was 1 at the time just wore a Halloween onsie, but DD who was like 8 or 9 wore a full out costume. It was really hot when we went though, it was late Sept. But either way- costume or not, you will all have a blast and not seem out of place. It honestly was about half and half when we went.... maybe due to it being Sept, but we loved it. You could just do Halloween shirts too. :goodvibes Hope that helps a little.

As for MNSSHP, I guess I will have to talk to dh about going and then ask the kids if they would want to dress up. Can't wait to start planning!

Hooray! We got our dates! MAW was able to get us there on dd's 6th birthday and I am so excited!! We will fly there Sun Oct 9th and come home Saturday October 15th. The itinerary will come in the mail, but I am told they got us good flights! Can't wait to see so I can start planning!:banana::banana::banana:

Joining in!

I read Brendan's whole story. What an angel, I hope he gets to have some fun now with his new cast! I look forward to reading more about him and knowing more than his diagnosis too. :) Your Nolan sounds like quite the great young man too. Looks like you are blessed with an amazing family. Finally, congratulations on getting your dates!

Thanks for checking in on me. It has been a crazy here. My husband traveled for work for 2 weeks straight and the kids got sick and now dh just pulled his hamstring and I need to take him to the walk in clinic. I will try to check in tomorrow.

Hello! :)

I am going to update your dates! :)

YOu guys are staying at GKTW, right??

as far as MNSSHP...your kids will definitely want to dress up... Just keep in mind that it will probably be hot. We didn't think too much about that and Lauren's outfit was really itchy in the heat.

I also deliberately picked an outfit that was more "normal" for clothes...I wore scrub pants and a cool moisture wicking long sleeve shirt with my outfit (Cat in the Hat) - which was nice because it was more normal clothes and I could wear my crocs walking around.

I have seen people going ALL OUT and wearing all kinds of makeup, high heel shoes, etc, etc and they seem to be having a lot of fun...but I would be miserable! :faint:

Anyway...definitely dress up! :) It can be simple, too...it doesn't have to be too fancy or anything. :)

Yes....We are staying at GKTW! We are really excited! Thank you for all the info on the MNSSHP. I will have to definitely consider the heat! My kids and me get hot quick, so we will need to keep cool!

I am so sorry that I have been MIA. With dh travel a ton and the kids getting sick, life was hectic. Well, now I am sick. UGH! Anyway, we received a very special Mickey Mail Package and I wanted to share the pictures. The person who sent it wanted to remain anonymous, but I thank them from the bottom of my heart for making the kids day (and my day)!
