Just got off the phone with my brother, who's a monorail driver, and he said he knew the driver. Said he was a great cast member and it's a big loss.
So sad! We've ridden up front many times and heard all about the safety systems in place. I am going to hold off on speculation and wait for more info to come out.

What info would need to come out?
Is there any possible scenario where it's NOT Disney's fault and they don't need to make some serious changes?
I'm a huge supporter of Disney, both emotionally and financially, but I'm not going to let them sweep stuff like this under the carpet. They need to be called onto the carpet, not swept under it.

The monorails move at a top speed of 40mph. If this accident did happen near EPCOT, we all know that this stretch of track is one where top speed is regularly reached. My first guess would be that the track system failed to notify the driver of the stopped monorail before it was too late to stop the train safely.

The accident happened either at or near the TTC station.
Did you notice that some pics have the monorails sitting outside the station and the video they are in the station???
did it crash and then they moved it inside the station? or did the momentum bring them in....scary scary either way.
its so sad...I wonder how long they will close the monorail....after the deadly accident at DL Big Thunder it was closed for a long time...and it was scary to ride it right after it opened back up because you couldn't help but think of what happened there...at least for me it was that way.![]()
Yes the driver could have had some type of medical emergency.
