It didn't sound like she was going out earlier, but I am pretty sure she was going this weekend.

I was reading about the hand made candy canes at Disneyland. They look great....have you ever been tenacious enough to get/try one?

Are you starting to think about Christmas?

What do you and DS normally do?

Yes.

I think this is the last year of visiting Santa. I wonder if it helps since the elementary school is split so there are less older kids telling tales.

I might put up some more lights, on the barn. The house is done.

Tree needs to go up. Many decorations yet to do.

I think this week or next weekend I'll do shopping with my mother.

Yes it is. Is Alison in the parks tonight?

No, I'm at the parks tomorrow night, and actually only one!

I'm not real sure where Alison is. With Fran the way she is, they might well be home...tidying up for the new cat.

We're giving up on the new cat, we'll tidy up, but we don't want to get our hopes up on this B!tch. She's all about nutrition and I mentioned that our house was cluttered and she said in a kind of biatchy way "That might be a factor", so even though we're cleaning up we aren't holding out hope. But these people must not adopt up a lot of cats. It sure must be frustrating for them to have such high standards. I think we're good kitty parents, but if they don't we'll go back to Arline's PetSmart!

DS knows that Santa is a concept...he still wants Santa presents. ;)

I just emptied out my present cupboard and will start looking at what I have and who I want to give them to. I think I'm almost done with the adults...I'm contemplating giving money to the nephews and nieces this year instead of a gift card.

The only ones left to get will be DH and DS.

I'm hoping to hit the shops tomorrow.

She may well be at the parks then. Half her luck to be living so close. :goodvibes

If I lived that close I'm sure I'd be there a lot as well.

No. It seems to be a novelty act at best. I'm not big on candy to start with, and it's questionable if I will have a candy cane at all this year.

Have fun in the only one park.

That's a shame about the cat. I know you're good kitty parents but to judge "good parents" purely on cleanliness of place.....well, that's definitely not next to godliness in my book.

I have some on my tree....its all about looks.

It's not easy being green....and I just had to share...

Take a look at my zucchini plant...

I picked these 3 yesterday.

Couldn't those zuchinnis stay on the plants and get a lot bigger? Or do they not like the coming heat?

Yes they could. But from one day to the other, we can go from the length of a knife.....to the size of a sausage dog!

I figured I needed to grab them whilst they were still young and tender rather than waiting. Plus its early in the season. These were my first zucchini harvest.

I have 3 plants going. This one is the earliest of the lot. I expect to be cropping zucchini between now and mid February, if I'm lucky. The one that I pulled the zucchini off? There's another one growing that will probably be ready middle of this week, especially given that they are promising sunshine. There are still another 4 flowers developing and I can see sprouts of flowers still developing.

The other two? They are planted in soil that isn't as good as this first one. There is 2 zucchini developing on one plant and there are at least another 5 flowers on that one.
The other one looks like there's about 4 flowers developing.

I might see later in the week if there are about 6 flowers developing about the same rate....and pick them. Stuffed zucchini flowers....like Alison wanted me to do.

Did the plants die during the winter? They look pretty big.

I'm not sure I could do anything with that much zuchinni. I saute it as a side often. And on rare occasion make a vegie lasagna or meat lasagna with zuchs,. Other than that put it in soup.

Yes. They die down during winter, if they make it that far. By the time late summer comes round, the zucchini leaves are just crawling with yellow ladybugs. I like the ladybugs and don't like to spray my crop; so I quite enjoy seeing the insects enjoying the leaves.

And as for zucchini....I'm also growing eggplant/aubergene and tomatoes at the moment. I have plans for ratatouille later in summer.

After that, I do give away some of my zucchini. Usually there is way too much for us as well.

But yes...zucchini and carrot cake, zucchini pasta, baked zucchini boats....been there...eaten it!

My mother makes breads and cakes with zuchinnis. Some I've had are good, some to green.

Ratatouille. An excellent movie.

Good night PIO, and Alison if you check in.

Skiingfast - I'm going to start sorting out address labels for my cards and also hope to make a start on present wrapping.

Have a good night. I think I'll be in and out tomorrow.

Good morning all. I went to bed at around 9:30, I was exhausted as I was awake all night friday. We shopped for the grandkids, and the daughter. That was fun. We still need to shop for all in laws, and his brother and wife.

Zunchini plant looks great. I wish I could get stuff to grow.Lettuce was about the only thing I got to grow.

Skiing fast hope you get to finish your decorating. What is everyone asking for christmas. I wanted a book and a small vacuum for my bare floors.
