BREAKING: Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Ride is Coming to Disneyland Park

I think it has more to do with guest satisfaction than either neighbor relations or cost control.

Imagine a nighttime show that works with or without fireworks. It can run every single night of the year, regardless of crowd size or wind conditions. It will be plussed on weekends and vacation weeks and summer days... but will still be a grest Disney nighttime spectacular on nights when the fireworks can’t run because of wind.

That’s my theory. I think Disney can come up with something pretty great that will exceed expectations. Projection mapping technology has come a long way in the last decade.

(ETA: How many times do we hear about someone whose vacation was “ruined” because the fireworks were canceled!?!)
I'm sorry but a day without fireworks at DL is going to feel incomplete to me. Sure I can try to be there on a weekend day, but I also have to do that for Fantasmic so now it gets harder to see both (we like to see the fireworks over the castle). And now we'll have to fight even bigger crowds on the few nights the fireworks area actually running.

Woah hang on. The fireworks are being stopped on weekdays? I completely missed this.

Is Remember finishing/being replaced? I was always surprised the 50th fireworks were not replaced by Disneyland Forever. Was that a case of money I suppose?

We never have week day fireworks during the off season unless it’s a special show like the 60th or together forever.

Thanks for explaining. I can’t believe I’ve missed this, I was sure I’ve watched the fireworks during Spring Break weekdays and during beginning of December. You still learn something every day when you think you know most things about Disney parks!

That would be considered peak season. We usually don’t have fireworks on weekdays from January (once the holidays are over) through the start of summer except for the 3 week spring break time frame, September and October except for Halloween parties and Columbus Day, and early November until holiday time starts. The exceptions to that is when a new firework shows debuts. So right now during the off season since February 2017 we’ve had remember dreams come true which took a 2.5 year break after it left in November 2014.

ToonTown is definitely desperate for something new and fun. Surprised they're not razing Roger Rabbit to do it, though. That ride is always breaking down, and it's just an OK ride attached to a forgotten movie. Still, the fact that we're getting a Plus1 helps relieves crowds elsewhere.

As for the fireworks being saved for weekends, that's sorta how it works except Christmas time and the Summer. Hopefully, summer is still full fireworks. BUT, and this is a BIG BUT, projections? Are they going to increase the size of the castle to Orlando size (189 ft)? Because projections on that castle are awesome because everyone can see them. But projections on a 70 ft building (with most of the building below 50 ft), I've barely seen them from Main Street and it's kinda week due to where it's being projected.

I do agree that fireworks at DL get cancelled far too frequently, so this is a good option. I guess.

We always visit in early December so a big deal to us.

Cutting back in peak season is a bigger problem than not having them every night in "low season" (which is sort of a joke any more since we are told that it's always busy at DLR any more). But peak crowds stacking up for fireworks 3 nights a week is going to be harder than stacking up during lower crowd times. It will be like trying to watch Happily Ever After in the MK during hard ticket party season.

Looks like this rumor is hot again!! https://www.wdwinfo.com/walt-disney-world/disney-rumor-round-up-january-2019/

(Also of intrigue to me on that rumor list was the 50 parade float chassis that Disney is rumored to have ordered. Maybe we won't lose PTN to WDW when they celebrate their 50th. Maybe they're just replacing current parade chassis I guess but I'm being optimistic they'll use them for their own PTN instead of taking ours! Losing the Electrical Parade was scaring...)
