I'm looking at making a character breakfast the morning we set sail. We are staying at Pop Century, and taking Disney Cruise Line transportation from there. Does anyone have experience with doing a character breakfast the morning of the cruise? What's the latest reservation time you would choose?

You could be picked up as early as 10:30. You’ll know only the night before. I would not make a reservation later than 8. 1 hour for breakfast and one hour for transportation. And I would use Lyft or a Minnie Van to get around.

Where did you plan to go ? Chef Mickey ? Cape May ? Garden Grove ? ’Ohana ? I wouldn‘t go in a park the morning of the cruise...

If taking the DCL transfers to PC, I would only make a character breakfast reservation if I was staying at a hotel with the character breakfast. Otherwise, I would be too stressed about making sure we got through breakfast in enough time to get back to the hotel before our pickup time. Just not the way I want to spend the morning of embarkation day.

We’ve done character breakfasts at 8:00 at both Contemporary and GF, didn’t stress a bit about being back at whichever All-Star Resort we stayed at, it was a piece of cake. Book it and have a great time.

Just have breakfast on the ship?????????????
PP probably means have the character breakfast on the ship. OP doesn’t mention the duration of the cruise. Character breakfast is only offered on 7+nights cruises, and the characters are Disney Jr, not the big 5

As long as you have at least two sea days on a 7+-night cruise, DCL will offer the VIP character breakfast. And it's not just Disney Jr characters:

I’m a stickler on timing and plan for contingencies. You want to be back at the hotel at least 20 min ahead of bus time, which can be anywhere from 10 30 to 11 30 depending on the resort. And you won’t know bus time until you get your letter with the time or you can ask the front desk for what time the bus usually comes. You leave your bags out in the morning usually before 8 to be collected. If I were doing a character breakfast I would Uber back and forth from your hotel. Otherwise I guess if you are going to a hotel close to MK you could take the bus to MK and then take the monorail to the resort. But then you have to go through security at MK before you go to the monorail and then at the resort before you get back on the monorail. Plus the bus can be very crowded in the morning for MK so it’s even possible you don’t get the first bus you want, so maybe you take the bus one way and Uber back. Just remember you are not likely to get in right at your reservation time so there could be a bit of a wait. This is just me planning for issues but I always have a plan b ready in my mind,

I recommend an 8am character breakfast at the resort of your choice. You'll have plenty of time. The ships' character breakfast don't compare in quality to the ones at Walt Disney World resorts, btw.
