Breakfast, lunch or dinner at BOG?

During our last trip in April 2014, BOG was newly opened and I could not get an ADR. I'd like to make an ADR for our trip in April 2016. I took a look at the menus, and while there is plenty that my husband and I would enjoy, I'm not sure that the two teenagers with us would appreciate the choices quite as much. I really want to go mainly to experience the new restaurant, and given the menus choices, thought that breakfast might be the best option. Any advice?

We enjoyed all three meals at BOG.
If you want early entry, make ADR for breakfast (but be careful as an early entry ADR might be affected if park hours change). We liked the bacon/egg on baguette and the chocolate cronut. Early entry got us two rides on 7DMT, but YMMV.
Lunch was delicious - braised pork and veggie quiche, along with cupcakes were fantastic - a nice break from the park/rides/walking. Refillable soft drinks and water were appreciated (we travel in August, so it's hot!!!)
With breakfast and lunch, you can choose your own seat/room to sit in.
Supper was fantastic. We had great service and got to meet the Beast (he was really good). Food was fantastic (we had the steak, chicken and seafood in pastry meals). Our DD's (both teens) enjoyed each experience.
Good luck deciding:-)

We have experienced both lunch and dinner and we liked dinner a little bit more. It was nice to have a glass of wine with dinner and the steak was awesome. It was also nice to take a picture with the Beast at the end (giving it a little character interaction). Lunch was good but nothing special. The only perk for lunch IMO was being able to eat in the castle and pick your choice of rooms. In the end both are great dining experiences. Good luck!

I had lunch at BOG and loved it. Food was really good. I had the croque monsieur with fries. Very tasty! I havent had dinner but I like the menu at lunch and I like to be able to choose which room I want to sit in.

We have had lunch there and really liked the food. The braised pork was really good. I have also heard great reviews for dinner there. We plan to do dinner next time.

We did all three. I would rank them dinner, lunch then breakfast.

I was just coming to ask this same question (as my first post ever!).

We have two MK days & I was able to get an 8:20 BOG breakfast with a 9am RD. I also have a lunch ADR the same day. I would love to get in the park early but I know my ds5 would love to see the opening show. He loves trains. Do the characters ride in? What's it like?

Our 2nd MK day we have Chef Mickeys at 7:45 so I think we'll miss the opening.

Park early? Or opening show? BoG breakfast or lunch? I think the breakfast menu looks better but such a waste of a QS credit. It's our first visit with kids (DS-5 & DS- turning 1 on the trip). I haven't been since I was 17 & DH since he was 11 so we are complete newbies. Thanks! And thanks to op for the piggyback.

We did lunch last trip when it was a special FP. We enjoyed being able to walk around and see all three rooms, take pics, and choose our seat. Also, they bring your food so it's almost like TS but you only use a CS credit. Enjoyed the fancy grilled cheese and yummy cupcakes, and could refill soda at the fountain. We also have a brft and lunch ADR scheduled for this trip, but may cancel one. Brft does seem like a waste for what you get compared to CP or CM, but really want to try the cronut! It is good for getting into the park early for Main St. photos, and to start Fantasyland right away. We always do EMH or early reservation, so have still not seen opening ceremony, but I think the quiet Main St. Experience and photos, and jump start on rides us the better deal. We'd love to meet the Beast, but dinner menu is really not our thing, and hard to get - would rather do 1900 PF with the great character interaction and buffet.

Breakfast - only if you can get in an hour before Rope Drop (Park opening).

Lunch - if this were your only option, because it's Qwik Service.

Dinner - our preference. Food quality is very good for the price and you may be able to be photographed with The Breast.

Hmmm. I would say to skip breakfast to save the money as you can eat that so cheaply elsewhere, and it is a waste of early park time. (unless you get in before rope drop, when it becomes a help with early park time). We all liked the lunch menu better than the dinner menu. It was nice to see the beast, but he doesn't come around to the tables like other character meals. I think it is cheaper and tastier at lunch time. Just my two cents. You won't be disappointed no matter which one you choose though! I hope that you enjoy your trip!

I've only done lunch and dinner but I'd pick lunch by a mile. I don't get the hype of BoG because the food has never wowed me, so it see inside the castle at the cheapest options lunch is a great choice.

I've only had lunch there, but I've done it twice. I think there are lots of good table service restaurants at WDW but relatively few really excellent QS restaurants. For us it was such a pleasure to have a somewhat more sophisticated meal with real silverware, a more leisurely pace and great theming without breaking the bank.

Enjoyed the Breakfast croissant doughnut and the braised pork for lunch.

Ranked in order of preference....

1. Lunch
2. Breakfast
3. Dinner - it was nice to have a glass of wine in the MK

Have done all three and they all have pros and cons:

Breakfast. I have done both a pre-park opening, which was great to walk through the park and get an early ride on 7DMT AND a late breakfast after we had been on rides for a few hours so it was nice to sit and eat a decent meal, allowing us to have a late lunch as well. We have enjoyed our meals and think it's a great value for a QSDP credit.

Lunch. I think it might be our favorite since it is one of the best counter service lunch options, maybe the best in MK. We have tried lots of items, liked them all but love the Pork. We also enjoy the French Onion Soup and am usually picky about that. We have had all the desserts and they are .... okay .... and unless included in a QSDP credit would not pay for any of them again. Meal itself is a good use of a QSDP credit.

Dinner. We went specifically for DS to meet the Beast. Our server was wonderful. The menu doesn't wow us so we ordered the pork which we knew would be similar to lunch. Food was good. Desserts again, did not wow us, so we got the Grey Stuff since it is presented different. The room itself feels exactly like it does during breakfast and lunch so we really did not get the Table Service atmosphere, only the server.

If you just want to see the rooms make an ADR for lunch, or even a lunch off hour and just get dessert.

We've only had dinner, but it was very good and the service was great. We had a teenager with us and she enjoyed the steak and the grey stuff. Would your teenagers not eat steak or chicken?

On our last trip in October we did breakfast twice and lunch once. We considered skipping our second breakfast reservation just because it was so lackluster. I thought lunch was amazing though. The food was great and you cant beat the experience especially for a quick service meal. Havent done dinner yet but hope to in May!

Sorry, I was wondering if you could clarify this a bit? We currently have an 8:45am reservation for BOG with a 9:00am park opening. Are you saying we could get into the park early, ride a ride (or 2!), and THEN head over to BOG for breakfast?

I was actually curious about the whole breakfast pre-rope drop thing, so I guess this is as good a place as any to ask.

Additional to my question above: For our 8:45am reservation, are we allowed into the park at the same time as ALL of the pre-rope drop breakfast people?

My original thought was if we could, get in real early with everyone else and hope to eat earlier than the actual 8:45 reservation, then try to hit a ride before the rope drops. But, if we can get in with everyone else, it might make more sense to hit a ride first (if they start running pre-rope drop) and then still have time to hit breakfast at 8:45.

Sorry about the questions. This is our forth trip to the World, but the first time we are able to hit the parks early (no kids this time, hah!), and so the first time we have thought of pre-rope drop reservations. Thank you!
