When my DD turned 8, I started trusting her with the toaster. she would make herself whole wheat toast with butter I left out the night before to soften and then cut up a banana on top of it.
Also, I've put 1/2 cup frozen blueberries and sprinkled crumbled oatmeal breakfast cookie type things on top. I put in one of those pyrex glass ramikin. Then, it needs to bake in the toaster oven at about 300 degrees for about 20 minutes. My toaster oven has a timer so that it cannot go beyond and burn! It is like a fruit crisp! Delicious! Hot and filling.
When I make corn muffins, I add an extra egg or two and some protein powder.
If you feel comfortable with her using the microwave, she could prepare herself an egg sandwich like Dunkin Donuts does: Scramble an egg and place in a bowl that has been sprayed with cooking oil. cover and refrigerate. In the morning, she can toast an english muffin. Then, she puts the egg in the microwave for 1 min (test the timing for her). Add a piece of cheese and she has an egg and cheese sandwich.
It is my job to make sure everything is unplugged before leaving and sometimes, I need to write directions for her to follow.
Whatever you think your daughter can handle is going to determine what you can allow. My daughter is almost 12 and I still don't allow her to take hot things out of the oven. I take them out for her.
