Breakfast ideas at the Yacht Club?

Hi all! Maybe this belongs in the Resorts forum-- I couldn't quite decide. Anyway, my family is staying at the YC in mid-September. We usually either stay at AKL or POR, both of which have pretty good options for breakfast, and I'm kind of stymied by the lack of breakfast options at the YC. My kids are usually satisfied with frozen waffles or cereal at home, but they look forward to cooked breakfasts when we're on vacation, so I don't think they'll be happy with the breakfast sandwiches the YC and BC counter service restaurants offer. We tour commando-style, so breakfast needs to be eaten before we hit the parks. I usually get up before the rest of the family and run out for breakfast while they get ready and bring it back to the room. I'd be willing to walk over to the Boardwalk for breakfast, but they seem to have a similar menu. I really hate to pack food to bring along, but I'm not seeing any other options-- anyone have any better advice? We do have one reservation for breakfast at Cape May on my son's birthday, but the rest of the mornings need to be quick. Thanks in advance.

I hear the BC cs has stepped it up a bit but the times we have been to the YC we were stuck on where to go for cs breakfasts. THe BWI Bakery has breakfast croissant sandwiches with bacon scrambled eggs and cheese and one with tomatoes scrambled eggs and cheese..very good but hard to eat in a sandwich form, need a knife and fork. The rest of the options are cereal, donuts, muffins, pastries and fruit

You can walk over to the Dolphin and go to Picabu's, it is a cafeteria style place and not to far a walk from YC

Or you can wait to go to the park and eat CS at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot, they have a breakfast platter, french toast, breakfast sandwich and a croissant berry bread pudding that is to die for . They also have fruit, cereal and pastries. Main Street Bakery in MK has a killer breakfast croissant sandwich with a ham egg and cheese, almost like an omelette style and they have the other breakfast pastries and fruit

Would you say the sandwiches are pretty big? I have a seven year old who's going through a growth spurt right now and eating everything in sight.

Ooh... Picabu's menu looks pretty good! Do you think it's close enough that I could easily carry breakfast for five back to the YC? (in comparison, I'm used to carrying it to the farthest reaches of POR)

The in-park breakfasts sound really good-- one of these days we'll have to slow down and eat there.

Thanks for your suggestions!

At the Yacht club the Captain's Grille has a buffet breakfast that is very good or you can order off the menu. Usually you can get in pretty easily - just walk in and it is quick. I enjoyed it very much.

Thank you!

The croissant sandwich from BWI Bakery is the same that you would find at any other resort CS place, a large croissant filled with eggs, one slice of cheese and 2 pathetic pieces of that plastic like bacon. We prefer the one at Main Street Bakery, the egg is like an omelette with the cheese and lot of thin sliced ham in the middle...so good but I make DH order his own as I just cannot share this :lmao:

I have not been to Picabo's but I know it is the basement of the Dolphin, just a quick walk from the YC and when you enter the lobby go to the left around the ice cream place and just keep walking ... you will end up at Picabo's. I am sure they can pack the food in bags for you.

We like to eat at the parks, yeah we lose the park time but we have been there done that so many times that losing a time to eat a nice CS breakfast in the parks is worth it

You can always get take out from Kouzzina or Capts Grill as well

I second this....the breakfast is really good at Captain's Grill and like the PP said, it is really easy to get into (no need for an ADR) and the service is really quick and very good. We had breakfast there on our Epcot day and we still got to the IG before the park opened (had 7:30am ADRS).

I don't know how you guys feel about characters but Cape May is really good at breakfast. Hello, French Toast bread pudding!

Hmm... I'm thinking we'll need to check this out-- thanks!

Yes! We're having breakfast there on my son's birthday-- we've been looking forward to it, and now that I hear about French toast bread pudding, even more so! Thanks!

There is a sticky thread at the top of this forum outlining all the CS options in the Epcot resort area, both on the dining plan and off.

Not sure you should count on being able to get takeout from a TS restaurant. Most certainly not the ones in the parks...some of the resort restaurants might allow it but it isn't a rule that it is available.

...and if you are on the dining plan .None of the restaurants at Swan or Dolphin accept it there

You mentioned that although the kids like a larger breakfast on vacation, you don't want to have to pack food to bring and you want it to be quick. Gathering you can't pack eggs and bacon to travel, so the BC marketplace would probably work best - it has cereal, milk, yogurt, fruit, muffins - very easy take out items that are definitely easy to carry back to your room and quick to eat.
