Hi. We're staying in a studio at OKW and I don't want to cook much. I'm thinking of using a couple of CS credits in the evening to buy food to bring back to the room, put in the fridge, and reheat the next morning using the micro.

We have a car, so we could go to some of the other resorts to buy at their food courts.

Any suggestions on what to get that would still taste good in the morning? We're on the DDP, but I don't know that that really matters.

TIA for all your help!

Carmen :thumbsup2

Why not just go to a local market and buy some cereal, bread, bagels, butter, jelly, etc. You'll have a toaster as well as the microwave. There really aren't any breakfast items being served at night...

Even if you do not have a car the store at the resort will have breakfast items that are rather inexpensive and will fill you up. Another idea is to just bring cereal bars or oatmeal bars for a quick start up and then grab breakfast foods like muffins in the parks. Many of the breakfast type foods can pack easily, cereal, oatmeal.

When we're in a studio, we usually purchase some bagels or muffins and bring little packs of jelly from home. You could buy some butter and/or cream cheese too and some juice or milk for the kids. Or perhaps little boxes of cereal or Pop-Tarts. Donuts are readily available as well. We usually bring peanut butter from home to use as a spread or for a quick pb&j sandwich.

When you're at the store, you could get frozen pancakes or waffles which would do well in the toaster and microwave. And on a special morning you could do a character breakfast -- our favorites are Crystal Palace, Donald's Breakfastosaurus, Cape May Buffet, and tho no characters, Boma for great breakfast buffets.

I agree with the grocery suggestion especially in a studio. Since you have a car why not stop at a real grocery for soda, water, breakfast and snack items? You will have the foods/brands that you like at a reasonable price.

We love to start the day with our favorite cold cereal with fruit in the am knowing that we will be "splurging" the remainder of the day with meals and snacks we don't normally eat.

Having the studio is ideal, starts the day off right with minimal prep and clean up. We also like to do some pool breaks and having our own soda and snacks even on just those afternoons is great, no hassle. If you have kids and they want a glass of milk and or snack at bedtime you will want that on hand as well.

I say, take 20 minutes on the way from the airport for a grocery stop and your are all set!

On your way out of the Magic Kingdom at night, stop by the bakery and pick up some of those huge cinnamon rolls to take back to your room.

I should've given you guys a little more info. We're on the dining plan and I know that we'll have extra CS credits that we won't use. I know that there won't be bfast food available, I was thinking about lunch/dinner food that would be good heated up. For instance, buying a double cheeseburger meal wouldn't do b/c the french fries and condiments would be nasty reheated the next morning. But, fettuchini alfredo would be great warmed up in the a.m. But I don't know which food courts would have the best selection of food.

Thanks!!

Gotcha - the dining plan is great. Not quite a food court but Goods To Go at OKW has quick serve food that will qualify - you can grab and go, eat there or or get bagels and such to store and re-heat for the morning if you want to eat in the studio. Just bring lots of ziplocks.

This is the breakfast option at Goods To Go menu from OKW courtesy of allearsnet

Breakfast Croissant Sandwich - eggs, bacon, American cheese $6.59

Scrambled Egg Platter - eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes $6.89

Kellogg's Assorted Cereal $1.69

Muffin, Danish or Bagel $2.39

Cinnamon Bun $2.59

Fruit Cup $3.29

Milk - lowfat, chocolate, whole $1.29

Or you can grab something in the evening on the way home using a snack or TS credit from the parks. The bakeries are a good choice, Norway or France in Epcot and one in MGM and Epcot. If you want to look for other ideas hit the menus on allearsnet.com.
