Breakfast casserole and Monkey bread recipes

Thanks for posting this. I think this is the one I was looking for.

Aack!! I just clicked on the link for a previous poster's recommendation for the Pioneer Woman's monkey bread recipe and it's almost identical. She calls for buttermilk biscuits, which are probably better since you don't have to roll them into balls, just cut them into quarters. She calls for brown sugar but trust me, you won't miss the brown sugar if you omit it. It's still heavenly good.

And she calls for 2 tubes of biscuits, not the 1 tube I mistakenly listed. To clarify, it's 2 tubes of biscuits you need....I hope you check back, Tink.

How is the Pioneer Woman so thin? I adore her but don't trust her, LOL. There's no way she eats the things she makes all the time.

The melted brown sugar and butter give it that added gooeyness (sp?). I halve the butter to one stick instead of using two. It's crunchy outside and the inside pieces are ooey-gooey goodness. :)

I agree, there is no way she stays as thin as she is by eating the stuff she feeds her kids and husband. Her hubby and kids work on the farm all day so they're getting plenty of exercise to burn off the calories. she must live at the gym, lol.

Thank you for the clarification. Now if only someone remembers the breakfast casserole one I am looking for. BTW I did find the thread from last year and do not see the recipe I am looking for.

I admit, I won't stick to my regular eating plan on Christmas Eve/day, but I can't imagine starting the day with some of these heavy foods. Does anyone have any sort of lighter egg casserole? I could just modify one of these recipes using egg whites and low fat cheese.... just wondered if there were any other recipes. Thanks....................P

these all look like great recipes!! I would love to make them, but I need to find lower sugar ones as MIL is diabetic!

I am sure I could use a sugar substitute has anyone else done this for the pull apart recipe?

We make the Butterscotch Bubble Loaf for Christmas morning.

http://www.rhodesbread.com/recipes/view/1613

Ingredients:
24 Rhodes™ Dinner Rolls, thawed but still cold
1/2 box butterscotch or vanilla pudding mix, non-instant
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine

Directions:
Cut dinner rolls in half and dip in dry pudding mix. Arrange rolls in sprayed bundt pan, alternately with pecans. Sprinkle any remaining pudding mix over the top. Combine brown sugar and butter. Heat together until butter is melted and a syrup is formed (microwave about 1 1/2 minutes). Pour syrup over rolls. Cover with sprayed plastic wrap. Let rise until double in size or even with top of bundt pan. Carefully remove wrap. Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes. Cover with foil the last 15 minutes of baking. Immediately after baking, loosen from sides of the pan with a knife and invert onto a serving plate.

I'm looking for a recipe that might have sausage and hashbrowns but not eggs? Does such a thing exist?

Maggie

I use the Pioneer woman's recipe for Monkey Bread. Only thing I do different is half the melted butter that get's poured over because I find it came out a bit greasy with the original amount.

Have you ever prepared the dough the night before and then poured the butter and baked in the am? I would like to do this Christmas morning but don't want to take all that time cutting and shaking.

I haven't but I don't see why you couldn't prep ahead of time. The only thing I can think of is that it may come out a bit more sticky than normal because the sugar had time to sit and suck up a bit of moisture from the dough. And extra stickiness may not be a bad thing on monkey bread ;)

I make the land of nod which is a monkey bread recipie where you make it the night before and put in oven ( turned off( with a damp towel over it and then you cook it in the morning. so very yummy
