Breakfast at the Nickelodeon without being a Guest

We spent a couple of days at the Nick Hotel and enjoyed the character breakfast there in 2011. We were hoping to just have breakfast this time, we are staying at CSR. I just called and they said you cannot make a reservation for breakfast without being a guest.

Has anyone had any luck around this and is it even possible to walk in?

Could I make a hotel reservation, make a breakfast reservation and cancel the hotel reservation?

Thanks for posting this info as we were wondering the same thing. My kids love the shows and characters on Nickelodeon, but I am on the fence about booking a stay there.

I seem to recall you needed a key to get into the food court.

If you are looking for a non-Disney character meal, Gaylord Palms offers a "Shrek Feast"" every Saturday and Sunday morning (characters appearing are Shrek, Fiona and Puss 'n Boots). The food is incredible (best breakfast buffet ever), the hotel is gorgeous (take a tour of the atrium when you're there), its easy to get to, and you don't need to be a guest at the hotel to make a reservation.
