Breakfast at Kona.....let's grab a table!!

HI all!!

My friend's sister was diagnosed with breast cancer about 2 1/2 years ago. She had a double mastectomy, went thru chemo and radiation. She 'beat' the cancer and had already gone thru her reconstruction surgery. Then about a month ago she got an infection. It went thru her amazingly fast. In 2 days she was on a ventilator, in a drug induced coma with her liver and kidneys shutting down. She has had brief moments where she seemed to be getting better but it never lasted. She was only 49 with 3 kids and 2 granddaughters.

It is horrible to say but losing her seems sadder to me than losing my FIL. He was 77, and had been battling for years.

Matt has a pre-district baseball game today. We are playing one school, New Haven, but the games are being hosted by a third school...Bishop Foley. So I don't know who the umps will favor:rolleyes1 If we win today we play again Friday at 11am. Oh and they won their league last week:cheer2:

Donna..this is Nathan's last week?? wow that sounds great. Our last day isn't until June 12th. Next year is going to be terrible. We won't get out until June 18th.

YM...Zach is in the Reserves. He will be in basic training , or boot camp or whatever it is called first then he is going to MP school. Again, I am sure their is a technical title for that but I don't know what it is. He will be home again in Oct. Then my understanding is he will be a weekend warrior while going to school unless his unit is called up.

Gotta get ready for Matt's game. Have a great one:wizard:

Good morning, all.
I think the sun is trying to peek out of the morning fog!!:sunny: I'll take that!!:thumbsup2

Michele:: Good luck to Matt and his games!! Great that they won league last week!! Way to go Matt!!:woohoo:

Linda:: How was your weekend? I hope you got some rest and had some fun without having to hit the books!!:woohoo:

DznyFan:: Are you back from your trip? Did you get to enjoy Star Wars Weekend? I hope you got some good pics; would love to see them!!:yay:

Not much new going on here. Nathan has practice again at 6pm tonight. Gary said last night's practice went really well. I was at an Air Force One parent meeting most of the time.

How about a little French Taost this morning?

french-toast.jpg

I hope you all have a Wonderful Wednesday!!:cool1::cool1:

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Linda, have fun at your mom's wedding, I'm sure Kenny will be a master! The state park sounds like a perfect place to stay.

I did a little shopping today. The boys did a bunch of swimming in our neighbors pool. After they had been in a while I tossed my youngest DS his swim shirt over the fence so he wouldn't get sunburned. He told me he wasn't getting sunburned like he did last yeat. Well...guess what? He never put his shirt on or more sunscreen and he got sunburned again. I don't think it looks too bad. I think we are going to have some burgers and dogs on Monday afternoon. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
we had a great weekend! thanks:hug: yes, he's quite experienced now:laughing:
ohh shopping sounds great!
oh no...I hope his sunburn isn't too bad:guilty:

Good morning and Happy Memorial Day!!
Guess what; it's raining!! Isnt' that just the way it would go for the official kick-off of summer.

We got back last night from our basketball-filled weekend at Springfield, Il. The boys won 4 of their 5 games....they lost the last one to a 6th grade team, but I must say they were the home court and the refs were coaching the opposong team and giving them pointers!!! I told the opposing team's coach to tell "his" refs "Good game"
Nathan has not really been playing that much and has not been starting. The coach has been trying to work on his defense/aggressiveness.

Linda:: Congrats to your mom. Hopefully she will be happy. I know that Kenny will be the perfect ring bearer.
Have fun at your special retreat in Ky.
yeah, that is what our neighbors say too... they usually open their pool, but something was bad w/the liner so they ordered a new pool!

don't you HATE when refs are like that:mad:we see that a lot in soccer too:sad2:pathetic!
Sounds like they did pretty good though...4 of 5 whoo hoo! I'm sure Nathan is improving his skills:yay: way to go Nathan!!:cheer2:

Good Morning all

I hope everyone has been enjoying their holiday weekend. Friday was great for us. We all had the day off, even Blake, so we made a family honey-do list and got a lot knocked off. Then we got the phone call....

Blake's dad was really bad again.

Then as if that didn't make Sat awful enough my girlfriend's sister was taken off life support that afternoon and died that night.
Oh and Zach left for army boot camp Tuesday.

This week really has sucked!!!
Oh Michele:guilty::hug:I'm so sorry!! our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Poor Blake, it has to be hard losing a parent.
good luck to Zach
Linda...how exciting that your mom is getting married!!! Hope you all had a great time.

I was picked to be the person in charge of pictures for the memorial service so I have spent a lot of time the last 2 days scanning old pictures. Now I have to put them on Blake's laptop so we can have a slideshow during the service.

As long as I have the boxes of pictures I am going to scan all of Blake's childhood pics that I don't have. Plus I hate to say it....but I am going to scan a lot of his mom too. She is in excellent health but...How horrible am I?
yeah, they've been dating for years, so...I guess it was about time:laughing: then he called me from their honeymoon...their wedding night they fell asleep early and then the next night....Aunt Flo came:rotfl2: TMI...sorry...but I laughed so hard..just their luck...a week on the beach too!

good luck w/the pics. I'm sure you'll do a great job. no, you're not terrible at all.

Good morning, all!!

It's been raining here again this morning. I need to wash the bugs off of my car, but I think Mother Nature may take care of some of that for me.
Nathan is so thrilled; this is the last week of school. Next Monday is their Play Day. They get to go to roller skating and to a near by park to blow off steam. He just goes next Wednesday to pick up his report card.
its rained like crazy here too! yuck!

yay for Nathan! that is exciting! I'm sure he did great on his report card too! he's such a sweet, great kid!!
thanks for all the great meals too:hug: I've needed them, I sure haven't been cooking much. just too busy w/school!

omg...that is so sad:sad1: its not bad at all, I'd feel that way too, she was so young w/a family.
good luck to Matt

next year June 18th..yikes!!!

Good morning, all.
I think the sun is trying to peek out of the morning fog!!:sunny: I'll take that!!:

Linda:: How was your weekend? I hope you got some rest and had some fun without having to hit the books!!:woohoo:

Not much new going on here. Nathan has practice again at 6pm tonight. Gary said last night's practice went really well. I was at an Air Force One parent meeting most of the time.
sun would be good:woohoo:

weekend was GREAT!!! very nice visit with family:cloud9: their wedding was just a small outside wedding at a park, in the gazebo. It went really well. of coarse we got there early. My son being ALL boy got grass stains on his pants before the wedding:eek:oh well, you'll have that I guess! oops! no big deal ...it was good to see family! then the stay at the state park was just so quiet and peaceful:cloud9:but the beds were tiny and hard, I might have gotten a few hrs sleep...Kenny and I were both up watching cartoons at 3am! we couldn't sleep! but...he was excited about the wildlife. we weren't there much, but he saw a raccoon, wild turkeys and deer...so that made his day. the lodge was nice, but just need good beds:laughing: guess we're spoiled! then Monday...we did homework all day! unless you count running to Lowes to replace our hot water heater and grabbing a bratwurst there:lmao: darn water heater was $700:rolleyes: since its power vent style...people that built this house weren't too bright I guess!

good luck to Nathan for tonight's practice! I'm sure he'll do great!

I'm ready for Cedar Point!!:woohoo:

I hope everyone has a great day! I gotta get a shower and get my booty to school!!

Hello, all!

Yes, Donna I'm back - barely - just totally exhausted from the travel and the catching up at work. I had to work all day Monday, as I chose the WORST possible time for ME to be gone from work to be gone...
And apparently the cat is having separation anxiety issues as she's waking me up in the middle of the night meowing just to make sure we're still there. Ugh.

Trip was fantastic except for the rain and the rain and the rain. And the leaving one behind. No Star Wars weekends for us this year! Darn!

Michele, I am so very sorry to hear about your FIL and your friend's sister. It doesn't sound like it's been a good week for you.

It sounds to me like you all had a great Memorial Day weekend.

YM, I apologize for any we weather we brought back with us. We wanted to bring a souvenir for all our friends here so we brought a tropical storm. what was it - 24 consecutive days here that it rained? then we left and it got nice, and started raining in Florida! When we left, the storm stayed with us all the drive home.

Linda - Congrats to your mother! How exciting!
You got a bratwurst at Lowes???

:wave2: everybody!!

YourMajesty:: Glad to hear that your youngest survived and his sunburn isn't serious. He just might end up with a great tan!!:woohoo:
Burgers on the grill sound yummy!!
I try not to complain too much about Nathan's playing time....it's up to the coaches, not me. :rolleyes1

Hey Donna...Yeah, you have the right atitude.:rolleyes1 It's just that it's hard to get better when your not playing much(too bad I'm not coach:rotfl:). My youngest DS sometimes only played a minute or two...and actually those were somewhat painful to watch. I hope he wants to play again this winter. How often do you have parent meetings?

It is horrible to say but losing her seems sadder to me than losing my FIL. He was 77, and had been battling for years.

Michele...lot of luck to Zach! I hope everything goes well, I'm sure he will grow up fast. Does he know what he wants to study in school?

[
we had a great weekend! thanks:hug: yes, he's quite experienced now:laughing:
ohh shopping sounds great!
oh no...I hope his sunburn isn't too bad:guilty:

Hi Linda...glad your weekend went well. Sorry about the beds...did they use some rocks from the park? DS's sunburn is gone!:yay:

Hi DznyFan...hey I thank I owe you a personal thanks for taking the rain with you. I'm glad you had a good trip. Keep us posted...I'm excited to hear how everything goes for DD!

Well, time to get some sleep. :cloud9:Hope everyone is having a great week!:cheer2:

Good morning!!

Just wanted to pop in real fast and tell DznyFan and Linda "WELCOME BACK"!!:dance3::dance3:
Have been doing laundry and web surfing; lost track of the time.:scared:

Have a fantastic Thursday, everyone!!:grouphug:

:wave2: everybody!!
sorry you got so much rain, and had to leave ;)...but I'm sure she'll do incredible! I wish I could get down there and see her!! I'm sure she will make many little ones so happy!

yeah, our Lowes usually has a vendor trailer outside like at the carnivals selling them during the summer... hot dogs, brats, drinks and chips... since we were gone, had lots of homework to do, and were so exhausted, I wasn't worried about grillling. I wanted to, but just didn't have the energy.

aww that would be painful, a minute or two:eek::sad2:how are they supposed to improve:confused3:guilty:w/soccer Kenny is in almost the whole game, and sometimes I feel guilty b/c he hardly gets pulled, and sometimes he does need a break, but his coach said he's the only one that plays IN his position, so hates to pull him. I understand, but the other boys need to learn too!!
omg,I'm telling you, those beds were TERRIBLE! Hard as rock and you felt EVERY single movement. guess I'm spoiled w/our temperpedic...but goodness, even the value resorts had better beds than the state park! oh well, I'll remember to just visit next time:laughing:

Good morning!!

You're welcome, YM!!

Linda, CUTE pic of Kenny! The others are great, too!

Donna - THANK YOU!

DD is playing with Gideon, the drunken cat from Pinocchio over at MGM today. Starting on the 7th, Princess Boot Camp begins. She will be close friends with Jasmine & Rosetta.

We actually did have breakfast at Kona on our last morning! Saturday and we picked up the kiddo and we had breakfast together before we hit the road. It was very good! I have Celiac disease and chef even brought me Mickey waffles that were made with a gluten free mix. Mickey waffles! I was SO happy - it was magical! (the other places we had breakfast at - Akershus and Whispering Canyon brought me pre-made waffles) Alas, I did not have the Tonga Toast... :sad2: He said he could make it with the gluten free bread if I wanted - so next time!

You know Kenny:rotfl: always up to something!
thanks...I was told I have a bit of a "lead finger":rolleyes1:rotfl2: there were some cute ones, but trying to see them on photobucket is hard to see...they're so small! I'll have to look at them better and put them on a disc for mom when they get back.

yay...princess bootcamp:cheer2: she'll be incredible!!!

that is too awesome at Kona!! I love the Poly so much! Kona is such a great place for breakfast!:cloud9:

Good morning, all!!

TGIF!!! I hope you aren't tired of me having to celebrate Friday every week.

DznyFan:: That is so awesome about E getting to go to Princess Boot Camp!! I know she is going to have the experience of her life!princess:
You were making my mouth water just talking about breakfast at Kona. We are making our Disney trek to the west coast this year and I'm really going to miss making the ADR's that we usually don't get to keep.
So...you're to blame for all the rain we've been having!!:lmao:

Linda:: I really enjoyed the pics from your mom's wedding. Kenny is as handsome as ever. Hey, can't miss out on that cake!!:cake:
Ugh, the beds at your lodge sound pretty bad. At least you can get plenty of good rest at home.;)
Thanks for the tonga Toast and Kona coffee!!:thumbsup2

YourMajesty:: I hope that Nathan will get more playing time soon. He played almost all the time in PeeWees, but HIS dad was the coach then.:cool2: He just needs to step up and get more aggressive. We told him to forget all about the mannners and behavior we've taught him over the years when he's out on the court.:teeth:

Nathan gets to play in St. Louis this Saturday. I've already gotten in touch with 2x2s to see if she could make one of the games. As always, she is a busy gal, but I'm supposed to call her tonight with the directions.
As for me, I think I'm ready for a free weekend so that I can plan a little time to do what I want to do.

Gary has had a difficult time the last couple of months adjusting to his meds. I think he is finally finding the right combination that he can tolerate. I've felt so bad for him and nothing I could do to help. It was always kind of heartbreaking to see the look on Nathan's face when his dad was sick.

Hey, Michele, those trip counters of ours are starting to look pretty good.:woohoo:

I couldn't decide what to fix for breakfast his morning; I think I may have gotten carried away!!

breakfast.jpg

I hope you all have a Fantasmic Friday!!:smickey::smickey::smickey:

Hi, everyone!!:wave2:

We made it back from our games in St. Louis. we left about 7:15 am this morning.
Nathan's team won first place!!:woohoo: We are so proud of them!!

2x2s made it to the first two games, but had to leave before the championship game at 2pm. I'm trying to make a basketball fan of her and I think next time she may show up in the team colors...red and black!!:cool1:

Gary is outside trimming the yard right now and crossing our fingers that we don't get rain overnight so that we can get some mowing done tomorrow afternoon. I guess I should go out to help, but I did just change the sheets on the beds and started a load of laundry.....don't want to overdo it.:laundy:;)

We stopped by Steak and Shake for a fast team celebration. Care to join us?

I hope you are all having a Super Saturday!!:hippie:

Woohoo...congrats to Nathan on their victory!:cheer2: Glad you were able to meet up with 2x...and maybe just a bit jealous I missed the party.;) Thanks for the treat....I'm a little full right now from the milkshake!:rolleyes1

Good morning! Thought I'd check in and say hi, I'm still alive!

Donna it sounds like Nathan is on a great team! That is awesome!:cheer2::cheer2: That is so sweet that 2x was able to make it for Nathan's game. :goodvibes

We've been going through a slight crisis with Britt the past week. Thank goodness it is over (I hope). She showed me how mature she is getting to be and earned a lot of trust and respect from us!!!

Now that said...I want to smack her! I told you how bad her tumbling class was.:scared: It has gotten a little better, she hasn't been falling on her head nearly as much but it still was not going well.:upsidedow Well DH got the trampoline up this weekend...she went out and did perfect back hand springs. :cheer2: Hopefully she will go in Thursday and shock the heck out of the coaches because I think they were beginning to think she was hopeless. :rolleyes1:lmao:

I can hardly believe school is almost out! It seems like we just did Christmas. Britt has finals next week then she is done. Maddie has to go till the following Tuesday because of the added snow days. They start back Aug. 24th.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! :flower1:

Good morning, everyone!!

I'm a little late getting breakfast on the table; I've been trying to catch up on the woman that faked her and her daughter's abduction, then was later found at the Grand Floridian.

YM:: I'm glad you enjoyed the milkshake, they looked pretty yummy yesterday as the boys were guzzling them down.:rolleyes1
I told 2x2s that we need to plan a little get together after July is over.

Lesa:: That's great that Britt has been practicing on the trampoline. I'm sure she will WOW them!!:yay::yay:

Nathan's last day of school is tomorrow, but just a play day. They get to go rollerskating and to a nearby park to play. He is off on Tues. and just goes on Wed. to pick up his report card. Gee....how the school year has flown by!!

How about a little selection from IHOP? I don't think I can decide; they all look good!!:woohoo:

that is wonderful!!!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:I had alot of fun watching Nathan and his team play yesterday and it was so good to see Donna and Gary!!!:hug:I was finally getting the hang of the scoring when it was time for me to leave----at least now I'm understanding the game a bit better.:dance3:I can't believe how tall Nathan has gotten in the last year since I saw him---quite the handsome young man.I am at my parents' for a little while so I thought I'd take the opportunity to check in and say hello to everyone.Michele---I'm so sorry to hear about Blake's dad and your friend's sister.* oops, my mom is ready to go---we are going to try and catch a movie and it's time to run.I'll be around here tomorrow most of the afternoon because my mom is having foot surgery, so I will try and check in.everyone have a good Sunday!!!!

Hey there guys!

Congrats Nathan:banana::cool1::yay::woohoo: that is fantastic!!!

I'm so glad 2x got to come and watch the excitement! How cool!! I bet he is getting tall! He is so sweet!!!

I'm so glad Gary is doing better w/the meds, being sick is no fun!

Lesa, I hope it was nothing serious w/Britt...glad everything is ok:hug:

I hope every is doing great...I've just been studying away...finals start tomorrow for one of my classes...we did take a break out to see "UP" it was great!! Much better than I expected... definitely will get that dvd...Mike even enjoyed it :woohoo:

Good morning, everyone!!

Well, it's supposed to be around 90 degrees today.....welcome summer!!

2x2s:: I'll be thinking of your mom today. Hope everything goes well.
I really didn't realize I had learned so much about the game myself until I started explaining some of the rules to you!!:rolleyes1:laughing:

Linda:: Good luck with the finals!! I know you'll do great!!
I am anxious to see UP; I was hoping it would be good!!

We did measure Nathan last week and he is 60 and 1/4 inches tall. Is he taller than Ym yet? Just kidding, Queenie.;)

Nathan has been wanting the new DSi, but didn't have enough $$$ saved. I told him that it was too bad that he couldn't trade his old DS in and get some money off the new system. He looked online and Game Stop was offering $70 for old DS trade-ins.......so we took him to Game Stop yesterday afternoon to get the new DSi. He has been having a blast with it.

Had better run, don't want to be late for work.

Maybe we should grab something fast on our way out the door.
How about some special Poptarts this morning?

I hope you all have a Magical Monday!!princess:princess:princess:princess:

Hey Donna - Princess Jasmine is on that box!!

Seriously - CONGRATS to Nathan and his team - that is wonderful! Good work! Very cool that 2X2S was able to make it to a couple of the games.

Linda - good luck on the finals! I have heard all good things about UP. I really can't wait to see it. Somebody gets to play with Carl next week! Jasmine Sunday, on stage as J on Tuesday, Carl on Mon and Weds. That's pretty cool. I guess she doesn't have 'boot camp' all week.

I am hearing so many neat stories, I gotta tell you! There are some "speedbumps" with the others in the apartment - they are very social and like to constantly have an apartment full of people over - and past midnight! They're supposed have guests out by 1:00 a.m. - meanwhile she and her roommate are getting up at 6:00 every morning to go be out in the heat wearing pounds of costume. They apartment mates give our girls a hard time because they ask them to be considerate, a little quieter because they're trying to sleep and the others give them crap. They're just being really inconsiderate. The others don't think about our two when they just decide to invite anybody and everybody over - not even to say "do you mind? we met a new girl/guy and we'd like to have them over?" No. E says there's constantly new people over there every day. And when we moved her in they mentioned that they didn't think that anybody needed to label their food - I suspected that was not going to work out, and it's not. She bought a 12 pack of diet pepsi the other day to drink when she gets home since she's not allowed caffeine before shift (to help avoid dehydration) and she came home and discovered all but 4 or 5 gone - then tucked what was back into the back of the fridge - and then next thing she knew all but one were gone. She is NOT a happy camper.
The cool stories include Tinkerbell coming to talk to their training group, running into "4 For A Dollar" - the old B&B preshow group - in the utilidors at MK and getting to visit with them - they're Dapper Dans now. And having the African Drummers at MK decide yesterday that since she's the new kid on the block (she was sharing a trailer w/ them and Devine at AK) that she needed to buy them all lunch. And dinner. And breakfast the next day. She really is having a ball!

Thanks for breakfast!

Carl!! How COOL!!!:yay::woohoo: I'd love a pic w/her like that:cloud9::banana: lots of pixy dust for her w/the roommates:sad2: sad when they steal her stuff too.. too bad she cant move rooms!!
yes, cool stories for sure!! except buying them all their meals!!

well, I got the dvd Mall Cop, we haven't seen it yet...I think I'll relax and go watch it. I have my NET (nurse entrance test) in the morning!!! I have my fingers and toes crossed on this one!! I have to be there at 8:30...and won't get out before noon! Yikes!!

take care and have a great evening!
