We have gone twice in the past 5 years (most recently in July 2024) and we enjoyed both experiences. We were a party of 4 both times and did not have to sit with anyone else. IIRC, most of the tables are close but not shared- they are independent tables. The exception may have been the ones on the floor closer to the stage. We were in the 2nd level both times. We had a seating around 5:30-6:00, so on the early side of dinner service.
This past summer, we decided to try Via Napoli after a 10 year hiatus due to a poor experience. It was a VERY different experience, and we were glad we gave it another try. My advice would be to give it a try and see. HOWEVER, I don't believe the food is much different now than it would have been then, so maybe look over the menu and make sure there are enough items that everyone in your party will eat? The service and seating can (and should) be improved, but if the menu still isn't your thing, then I'd skip it.
