Breakfast at Kona.....let's grab a table!!

:laughing:Hey there pozey. sorry, didn't see you peek in yesterday. "hi"!

Linda...I remember reading something in Reader's Digest a while ago that stuck with me. It was directed at Seniors but applies to anyone who is taking a lot of meds.

Any new symptom should be considered a drug side effect until proven otherwise.

It is scary to think of how many medications some people have to take.

Matt is not enjoying school right now. His Bio 2 class is his first one of the day and they are dissecting a cat:eek:
Some kids and their parents are soo stupid.

Briana has returned with pizza so I better go up before they eat it all. We eat so badly when Blake is out of town.;)
wow, that is interesting! I hope they can reduce/change/take him off them...something soon!
yeah, the amount his parents take is unbelievable. His mom always complains about having to sort them all out and prepare them and "who's going to do this for his dad when I'm gone" Mike told her he can do it and if she's gone, there will be 1/2 as many pills to sort. sad, but guess its true!

a cat, and you have to NAME it:guilty:that's just not right! hmmm name it the teachers name:rolleyes1:laughing:

ohh pizza!! enjoy it while he's away, life is so busy as it is, its hard to find time to make dinner all the time!

I hope you get to treat yourself to some salon time Fri:yay:

omg...I bet that guy WAS embarassed!:eek:kinda defeating the purpose by getting them out of the recycle bin to be counted and put BACK in the bin:headache:

I'm sorry Mike has to deal with all this! I can understand that not being able to find the word you're looking for and I'm not on any medication. I wonder if it's on of those things leading up to the "change of life". It drives me crazy when I say something like "You know that stuff you use for your teeth, it's white..." Dental floss...it's frustrating, I feel for him.

I use TGM too and I will printing out his best days and other neat stuff that I have to have and stuffing into the pockets of the passporter. I just think it's neat that everything is right there, all the restaurants on property, every ride etc. Handy Dandy!

We had some yummy steak on the grill with a salad and fries tonight it was great. I think I'm bugging my husband with my constant chatter about our trip, I ran our day to day itinerary by him today and he said "Sounds great", then on to other things. I guess we'd never get anything done if he was as obsessed with planning as I am. It's going to rain here until Saturday according to the news, hopefully not it was so nice today.

I'm a little ticked that the President is pre-empting (spelling??) American Idol tonight. I know he's the president but geez....:headache:
I'm sure it's all kinda tied together. I know a lot of people have a tough time w/all the hormones going crazy and everything else:headache:
I keep telling him, we move to a WARMER climate, you won't have all the pain, you won't need all the meds:rolleyes1:laughing:I think he's really considering it after I get my RN!

that REALLY sounds handy! I'm w/you on the overy obsessed planning! I made books of each park w/every restaurant AND their menu's printed/laminated and put on rings to take w/us! crazy, I know:laughing:

I make a spreadsheet for ea. day, the park we're going to, the hrs its open, what adr's we have, what time, adr #, and a rough estimate of what rides we can do in what time frame...nothing is in stone of coarse, but I like to have an idea of where we wanna go and what we don't want to miss.

ohh steak on the grill sounds wonderful!

can you believe that:eek: and Survivor is on tonight! I can't forget!

Good morning, everyone!!
Your trip is sounding really nice. I haven't officially cancelled mine and Nathan's......we would be leaving a week from Friday.

Linda:: I'm crossing my fingers that Mike's problems are a result of his meds. I know how hard this is for you and Kenny.
I had to laugh about you not knowing what day it is. School will definitely get you back in the groove!:woohoo:

I think Gary is adjusting to his new diet. We had a salad and a sandwich with our 45 calorie bread for dinner last night. He did come home hungry after practice and had some celery and a few pretzels.
I'm trying to get him to eat a rice cake, but he says it tastes like flavored styrofoam.:teeth: Oh, well....

I have a little something ready and waiting for breakfast this morning. Just a little something I picked up at our local bakery

I hope you get to take your trip, I know its so much fun just mom/son:love::cloud9:
I think they're on the right track w/Mike:cool1:
yeah, it will get me back in the groove for sure! I can't wait!!

I'm so glad to hear Gary is adjusting well! I know it really has to be a huge adjustment, and not a fun one:guilty:!!
I've never tried a rice cake, but that is what it seems like it would be to me too:laughing:

thanks, it looks wonderful!

Good morning!

We're getting ready to head over to Great Wolf Lodge. It is about a 3 hour trip.

Please send some much needed pixie dust to Britt. :wizard: She is suffering from a sunburn.:cutie: I don't know how bad it is, but knowing her I'm sure pretty bad. :sad2:They were in an area with no service so they could not call but the mom was able to email us last night.

Well better run, Maddie has been up since 5 asking what time we were leaving.:headache: I'll check in later! I hope everyone has a great day!!!

oh no! Poor Britt is pretty light complected too:guilty: I hope she's not too miserable.

Have a blast at GWL!!:yay::woohoo: Yah, Maddie is READY! come on mom...lets GO already:rotfl:sounds like Kenny!!
Like spongebob says..."I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready!!":yay::laughing:

Hi everyone.

The kids and I are doing well. Same old, same old......School, work, swimming. rinse and repeat daily.

We went to Destin, Florida for spring break last week. Had a GREAT time.

Pictures are here: http://pozeyfamily.shutterfly.com

There are some Disney pictures there as well.

Love you guys!!

Great pictures Pozey!! The pictures from spring break were really good, you had a great view from your condo. The one of the storm clouds coming in over the ocean was really neat, I can only imagine what that sky must look like when a hurricane comes.

Did you guys stay at the Grand Floridian during the Christmas season?!! Love the pics of Osbourne lights very nice.

UGH!!! The internet service is incredibly slow here!!!:badpc:

I am literally going crazy right now! It is the second day with no contact with my daughter other than an email. Whatever area they are in there is no service.:sad1:I'm sick with worry, I don't know how bad her sunburn is (not that I can do anything about it). I know deep down she is fine, but the mother bear in me is ready to fly to Guatemala not that I'd get very far, I don't have a passport. :headache: I need to talk to my baby!:sad:

The trip here was pretty uneventful! Wisconsin has lots of cows.;) The hotel is pretty nice although it is a little warm in the hallways. Maddie is having the time of her life. It has been so fun watching her enjoy herself. She really needed this one on one time. She got me to go on 2 water slides including the tornado :scared1: I can honestly say I've now been on enough water slides to last me a lifetime!;) I'm sure I'll be back on them again tomorrow as we have a whole day. :scared:I'm glad she is having fun though and I am enjoying watching her.:)

The awesome thing is there is a great outlet mall in the same parking lot as the hotel. It has a Coach outlet and I bought myself the tote I've been wanting for a great price. I'm going back to look for a matching wallet as I was only given 10 minutes to shop.:headache: DH bought himself a belt too. They also have a Disney Store outlet in there too.:yay:

***I just talked to Britt!!!!! :cool1::yay: She is doing good. She said she is pretty burned but it's not hurting as much tonight. I had a hard time understanding a lot of what she said. I did understand they rode ATVs and were chased by rabid dogs.:scared1: Also one of the locals came up to their van and tried to sell them a bag of fish. Tomorrow they are going to a coffee plantation, riding horses up a mountain and going to the volcano. She is already asking to go back for winter break.:headache:

Howdy friends! I'm behind again.:rolleyes1

Wow Donna...sorry to hear about Gary. I would be more than happy to give you some suggestions. Some of them may sound a little 'healhty' but you would be surprised at what he may end up liking when he starts feeling better. I always tell people to pick a few new things to try at a time! I'll send you a pm. How is his knee? Congrats to Nathan on his first tournament...2nd place sounds great.:cheer2:

Hi Michele...haha..."I sassy Damma"! How cute is that. My nephew will be four next week. When he doesn't want something or he doesn't agree he tells his mom...sorry mom, back luck (meaning no way is he eating or doing what his mom wants him to do).:rolleyes1 DS was very very upset and down about the knee. His pain seems to be a little better so his attitude has improved. I feel for him but I don't want his 'sports' career ended at age 11. I'm going to sign him up for some private swim lessons to keep him active.

Hey Lesa...hope you guys are having fun. Oh no, a sunburn isn't any fun. I hope Britt is doing ok.

Linda...I love your hair. The layers are very pretty. I can understand them falling out of a ponytail. I hope the tens unit helps Mike!

Hi Maureen...thank you, I know DS is still growing and they are really hoping that the immature growth plate will help the bone to heal. I did read that his type of injury fails to heal in almost 50% of younger children and then they will drill the bone with screws to stimulate healing. The Dr just said that he would not consider surgery at this time...we are hoping in June that the MRI looks better. His gym teacher has been great with giving him 'projects' when they are running and jumping like keeping score etc.

Hey Pozey...great pictures.:beach: Is Chase playing baseball this spring?

Angela...yum, I've been craving steak. Speaking of steak LeCellier sounds good. I always like to try something new each trip. We may be going sometime in the fall or Thanksgiving week!

Hi 2x2s...hmmm....so your bacon burned? I hate it when that happens. I hope your DN enjoys her field trip. France? Is that a state?:lmao: I wonder if they will watch the film?;) Hope you got your paint situation uncontrol. Oh, my sister and I took a short road trip and that included 'lots' of Michael Buble on the radio!

Ok, that's all for tonight...time to go to sleep!:cloud9:

Hi all

Only had a half day today. Got a lovely surprise Blake called me at work and said Bree had just told him I had a half day (which I told him about yesterday:confused3) and wanted to know if he could take me out to lunch:thumbsup2

We went to Applebees. It was nice and relaxing way to end a short but crazy day at school.

My sister had given Lilly an Ariel costume and a DVD from the Disney Store for her birthday. Lilly already had the DVD and costume was too small and way too scratchy. We had the gift receipt but they only offered her store credit. I asked if we could have the credit on the Disney cards that you can use in WDW. She had to check with her manager. Turned out you can't but he had her do the return as a cash return and then put the cash on the card. So while I know Bree would have preferred the cash, now she has some money to spend while we are in WDW.

Matt wants to go to the outlet mall tomorrow but it is about an hours drive from here and I have to be back for my hair appt at 1.30 I am trying to convince him to wait a week til spring break, then we can take our time.

Good Afternoon!!

Sorry, my internet was down last night and this morning. I got my spring/summer tops out this morning and took some to get pressed.

Getting ready to take Nathan to ball practice. Hopefully the internet will cooperate later this evening.

Take care!!

Good morning, everyone!!:sunny:

Whoopee!!! Friday is finally here!!:banana::banana:

Pozey:: I was just looking at your Destin pics. That condo is amazing and the kids are looking handsome and adorable as usual!!princess:pirate:

Lesa:: I'm glad you finally heard from Britt. Good to hear her sunbrn is getting better.
Sound like the rest of you are having fun at The Lodge!!
eta.....congrats on the coach purchase!!:thumbsup2

Michele:: I had to chuckle about you telling Blake you had a half day and Bree having to re-tell him; sounds kind of familiar.:rolleyes1 Your Applebee's lunch sounds great. What did you have?
Are you officially on spring break now? Nathan's starts on Fri. April 3rd at 3pm.:teeth:

YourMajesty:: I think Gary's knee is doing really good. The other night he was helping Nathan get in his 500 basketball shots; went to run for the ball and thought "what the heck!!", no knee pain!!:cheer2:
His med for the diabetes is upsetting his stomach quite a bit though.:sad1:

So.....better get myself in gear. You all try to enjoy your Friday.:hippie:

According to my sources, these are supposed to be Mickey shaped beignets. I hope they are as good as the regular ones.:goodvibes

CafeOrleansBeignets_62106_AVP.jpg

I hope you all have a Frenchified Friday!!:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Donna...the beignets look wonderful! They remind me of our trip to WDW. I can remember walking up to the lobby every morning and seeing outlines under the chairs of all the powdered sugar from the beignets:thumbsup2

Glad to hear that Gary's knee is feeling better. Tell him not to push it too far tho. We don't want a relapse.

No this isn't Spring Break, just a professional development day. I am so glad that I don't have to be there for those:cool1: Our break sounds like the same time as Nathan's. We have a full week this week then we are off from the 4th to the 13th.

We aren't going anywhere. Matt has baseball games all that week. He has a scrimmage on the first, then the first 'game' is the 2nd. I better break out all the fuzzy blankets...it is going to be cold!!

I got a call this morning from the girl that cuts my hair. My appt was at 1.30 but she asked to move it up to 11:woohoo: I haven't had it cut since Dec 3rd so it needs it bad!!

I have to get fresh batteries for the camera...Matt refs the youth basketball championship games Sat. Have to get pics for the scrapbook! Then at noon Nick is testing for his 2nd degree purple sash in Kung Fu.

Have a fantastic Friday:dance3:

Donna.....you couldn't have served anything better for breakfast! I just love beignets. For some reason, I didn't get any the last time we were at WDW. I seem to remember them doing some refurbishing in the food service area. But I could be totally making that up?? Steve and I actually lived in New Orleans for a year when he was in the Navy. We got to have beignets after Sunday Mass at St Louis Cathedral ...also after partying in the French Quarter very eary in the morning.

Does Nathan actually throw 500 basketballs every practice? Is this something the team requires or is it something Gary wants Nathan to do? Either way, I am sooo impressed! I read an article not long ago about athletes who have succeeded at their sports and it said that dedication to practice was one of the consistent traits for success. So he is certainly on the right track if that is something that he really wants.

I am so sorry to hear that your DH is having a tough time with his meds. I hope that if it does not get easier, he will ask for an adjustment in medicine. I was talking to Steve about Gary and we really feel for him. We are both such plain meat and potatoes people that we know what a hard time we would have. If we had to eat only the vegetables that we like, we would be too weak to function after a couple of weeks. I hope he is able to find things that he can learn to like. (I know this is very hard on you too, so I send pixie dust to you too)pixiedust:

I believe our girl Brittany returns home today!! :cheer2::yay::woohoo:
I hardly seems possible that the trip is over. We looked forward/dreaded this trip for so long and now it's done. I hope she had a wonderful time. I can't wait to hear from her. I hope Madison had a great time at the water resort.
Now Lesa can relax.

Hope I can stop over today and see how Micheles hair turned out.

I am having an issue with the bottom of my bad foot. The spot where they went in and took out some bone and inserted one of the rods has turned very dark. I went to my doctor this week and she referred me to a foot specialist but the appointment is not for two more weeks. The area is right in the middle of the bottom of my heel, so it's not really possible to keep pressure off of it if I walk. I am trying not to walk as much as possible but you know how that goes.:rolleyes1 Since I have no feeling there, I am not in any discomfort. It's not like what Linda went through when she had such pain in her foot.

Anyway ...that's enough rambling for now.

Have a great weekend and :cheer2:WELCOME BACK BRITTANY:cheer2:

Maureen

Britt's home!!! :yay: I wanted to kill her though! She called me from the Houston airport this morning to let me know they were back in the US and to tell me "oops I forgot to tell you I got my haircut and your going to hate it!":scared1: She said she was glad I wasn't there to see it cut because I would have cried my eyes out. I will admit I have an incredibly hard time taking her to even get her hair trimmed not to mention a full haircut, yes it makes me cry every time, don't know why. :confused3 So I spent the rest of my day in a huge panic on what my child did to her hair.:sad2: Why on earth would she go to another country and have her hair cut by someone does not speak English, nor my child speak Spanish well enough to tell her what she wanted.:headache: I can't even tell you the picures of how she would look went through my head.:scared: Well she got her bangs cut shorter than normal and it looks fine!

She took some awesome pictures which I'm downloading now. I'll post them as soon as they are done.

I'm so glad she is home, I can't even begin to tell you how stressful this was for me. Especially when I could not get in contact with her.

Thanks for posting Lesa. None of our kids were ever gone without us anywhere much less out of the country. So I won't pretend to know what you went through this past week, but I know it was very hard on you.

I suppose this means that Madison will not be going on vacation without you?

I was holding my breath reading about her hair cut. :scared1: How smart of her to worry you all day about it. By the time you saw it, you were so relieved that it didn't seem bad at all!! Kids!!! They are the reason we have to color our hair.

Britt's pictures

There are a lot of pictures to go through, but some really beautiful ones. She will go in later and put a descriptions of them later this weekend.

Happy Saturday ,everyone!!

It's been raining here this morning and snow showers are predicted for tomorrow morning!:eek::faint: When will it be spring? I'm ready to get out those capri pants and flip flops.;)

Welcome Home, Brittany!!:cheer2::cheer2:

I've been trying to view the Guatemala pics, but either my internet is having issues or Shutterfly is.:confused3

Lesa:: I know how relieved you must be to have Britt home. Thank goodness her hair was still attached when she got home.:goodvibes

Michele:: Sounds like Nick and Matt are going to be busy today! Don't forget the fresh batteries.;)
I did get Gary to do 20 minutes with me on the rec center's walking track. He said his knee was doing just fine. He even tried to call my bluff and suggest we walk another hour!:lmao:

Maureen:: Nathan's coach actually give the players "shot sheets" after every practice. He has a diagram marked to show where he wants the boys to shoot. The boys are supposed to do the 500 shots between every practice. I think he realizes that most of the kids aren't going to do this, but at least they are practicing their shots.
Yes, it has been a huge adjustment for Gary and his eating habits. He has lost over 50 lbs. in the past 1 1/2 years and now i'm afriad he is going to get too thin. We tried to go shopping for him again last night.....I really need to speak to a diabetes councelor; I'm not sure if the medicine is going to correct the glucose levels on their own.
Your time in New Orleas sounds like fun!!

Well, I have nothing planned for today, but I will probably be able to come up with something.

I've whipped up a little Saturday brunch for my pals. It looks better than the cereal and grapefruit I just ate.;)

SaturdayBrunch.jpg

I hope you all have a Super Saturday!!:cool1::cool1:

Lesa...the pictures are fabulous! She did really well. A lot of pictures of the dog but...great pics of the country.

Today wasn't as busy as I thought. Nick's Kung Fu test isn't until next weekend.:confused3

Matt reffed 4 games today. Got paid for today and the last 3 weeks and immediately needed to spend the money.

We drove over an hour to the outlet mall cause he only wants Ralph Lauren. And he refuses to pay full price:thumbsup2 He spent $112 but is so proud of himself...if he had bought it at full price it would have been over $300. He did pretty well...he got 2 polos, 3 t-shirts and a pair of shorts. Then we had to stop at a different mall on the way home to get a pair of batting gloves.

Hello crew...hope everyone is having a good weekend! It is wet here and it snowed. Luckily it is above freezing so it's not too bad.

Lesa...so gald Britt made it home safely. I'm glad her hair looked good...no tears! Thanks for sharing the pictures they were great.

Hi Michele...sounds like Matt did great with his shopping. Oldest DS is getting more and more into shopping. I wish we had some outlet malls nearby. Have fun with all the sports! Are you following college basketball? If I remember correctly you went to a sweet 16 game last year?

Hi Maureen...I sure hope you foot is ok.

Hey Donna...I'm glad Gary's knee is feeling better but hate to hear he's not tolerating his meds very well. Does he really need to loose any weight? I sure wish I knew more about current treatment for diabetes...seems like all my continuing ed is with breastfeeding and child nutrition. If he is getting hungry I suggest some raw nuts like almonds, pecan, walnuts, seeds (about 2T is a serving) etc. If you can... stay away from the salted and roasted. The raw nuts are so heart healthy and don't raise the blood sugar...not to mention very filling. Does he like avacado? It's very high in heart healthy fat and can be very filling. You can mash it and mix it with some low sugar salsa and serve it with baked corn torillas (you can bake them in the oven). Apple slices with raw almond butter make a good snack. You can get raw almond and cashew butter at most stores....oh the natural peanut butter doesn't have sugar. Cottage cheese with fruit is usually a good easy snack. This might be a little too much just yet but sprouted grain bread is very good for diabetics... he can have sandwich if he gets hungry with chicken, turkey, tuna, scrambled egg whites (or 2 whites with one yolk). Rye crackers or bread also seem to not raise the blood surgar so quickly. Stevia is a great sweetner for yogurt, tea, oatmeal etc...it comes in packets or actually you can get it in liquid form. Wow...I didn't mean to go so crazy...I need to call!:rolleyes1 Even if one or two things sound doable that's a start!

Good morning, everyone!!

Lesa.......I did get a chance to look at more of Britt's pics, but I think I only got a little past 150 before my internet went poopy yesterday. The Guatemala countryside looks so beautiful. I love the mountains!!

YourMajesty.......Thanks so much for the suggestions about Gary's diet. I realy appreciate the website link you sent also. His dr. sent home a sheet of paper with a really strict diet that absolutely no one would be able to stick to. I'm thinking that maybe he wanted him to follow the diet so that the dr. would know exactly how the medicine was helping him.:confused3

Michele......Whoops!! I guess you get to go to Nick's Kung Fu test next weekend.;)
That is great that Matt is such a smart shopper. Nathan is kind of into Nike stuff at his age, but some of the kids are starting to wear Under Armour. I'm hoping he doesn't notice and say anything.:rolleyes1

We are supposed to be getting some snow this morning, but it hasn't started just yet. I think I may turn on the TV to see what's happening in St. Louis. Gary has a Slot Car Show he wants to go to today and I'm not so sure of the weather in that direction. I'm thinking most of it will be heading north.

You all stay warm and cozy today.:grouphug:

Here's a warm bowl of oatmeal to warm us up this morning.
