Breakfast at Kona.....let's grab a table!!

Hey guys!! sorry, just wanted to pop in and say hello:hug:

Britt's pics are great. That puppy looked cute and playful ;)!! Looked like they had a great time. Sorry she scared you about her haircut ;)

I'll have to catch up more later...I just haven't felt the best. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Lesa...the pictures are fabulous! She did really well. A lot of pictures of the dog but...great pics of the country.

Today wasn't as busy as I thought. Nick's Kung Fu test isn't until next weekend.:confused3

Matt reffed 4 games today. Got paid for today and the last 3 weeks and immediately needed to spend the money.

We drove over an hour to the outlet mall cause he only wants Ralph Lauren. And he refuses to pay full price:thumbsup2 He spent $112 but is so proud of himself...if he had bought it at full price it would have been over $300. He did pretty well...he got 2 polos, 3 t-shirts and a pair of shorts. Then we had to stop at a different mall on the way home to get a pair of batting gloves.

Thanks for posting Lesa. None of our kids were ever gone without us anywhere much less out of the country. So I won't pretend to know what you went through this past week, but I know it was very hard on you.

I suppose this means that Madison will not be going on vacation without you?

I was holding my breath reading about her hair cut. :scared1: How smart of her to worry you all day about it. By the time you saw it, you were so relieved that it didn't seem bad at all!! Kids!!! They are the reason we have to color our hair.

If either of you could find some time, do you think you could call Brittany and ask her about her trip?? She is really hurt that not a single person bothered to call her and say welcome home, and ask her about it. :sad2:

I texted her that night and haven't heard back yet. Thought she was too busy with you guys and her friends.

Happy Saturday ,everyone!!

It's been raining here this morning and snow showers are predicted for tomorrow morning!:eek::faint: When will it be spring? I'm ready to get out those capri pants and flip flops.;)

SaturdayBrunch.jpg

I hope you all have a Super Saturday!!:cool1::cool1:

Thanks Donna for the breakfast...youngest DS gave it the thumbs up.:thumbsup2 He ask me if I still remembered those green things you posted for St Patrick's day?:lmao: I told him of course I remember and that they were donuts with green icing!:rotfl: Did you get any snow today? We ended up officially with 9.9":scared1: I would say that 90% of it melted today and actually since it was above freezing most of the time it snowed some melted when it hit the ground.

Hope everyone had a great weekend...for some reason I'm sitting here with a throbbing headache.:headache:

Good morning, everyone!!

YourMajesty.......Thanks so much for the suggestions about Gary's diet. I realy appreciate the website link you sent also. His dr. sent home a sheet of paper with a really strict diet that absolutely no one would be able to stick to. I'm thinking that maybe he wanted him to follow the diet so that the dr. would know exactly how the medicine was helping him.:confused3

Here's a warm bowl of oatmeal to warm us up this morning.

istockphoto_1194879_diner_hot_oatmeal.jpg

I hope you all have a Safe and Warm Sunday!!

You're welcome! We'll keep going unitl he finds things that he enjoys. Thanks for the oatmeal...it looks so good I think I will have some on Monday.:woohoo:

Risa and shine, everyone!!

Well, we did get some snow yesterday, but still made the trek to St. Louis. Gary offered for just him and Nathan to go, but I always go along to chauffeur and dxecide where to eat lunch. What would they do without me?:confused3....:rotfl2::lmao:

YourMajesty...... Did you get almost 10 inches of snow??!!:scared1: It's a good thing that it melted.:thumbsup2
I was almost insulted when your DS called my donut creations "green things". :snooty:
I hope your headache went away.

Linda......Hi, gurl!! Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Take care of yourself, isn't school starting soon....maybe today?:teacher: Good luck, I know you'll do great!!

Well, the time came to cancel my Disney reservation, so I call Saturday afternoon. I lived through it and can concentrate on our summer family vacation now. We are really considering California to visit with my aunt, cousins and their families......and to visit the west coast Mouse, of course.

I tried this morning to make my own jelly donuts, but finally had to make a trip to the donut shop. Try not to spill any filling.;)

Beignets

I hope you all have a Magical Monday!!:wizard:

Ym...I sure hope you got rid of that headache:hug:

Hey Donna...I must tell you that jelly donuts are one of my favorites!:rolleyes1 So, Where did you decide to eat? I wouldn't mind a chauffer...would you like to come visit me?;) Yep, it was near 10"! I think we had a couple of inches of rain before that. I think we were only supposed to get 1-3". I saw that a couple of places on southern Kansas and western Oklahoma got 30"!:scared1: Yep...what are kids for if not to insult us hard working parents.:rotfl: My headache imporved after a couple of tylenol pm's.:rolleyes1Rats about the Disney reservations. Too bad you can't stay in bed and eat ice cream today.;)

Hi Linda...how are you feeling? I meant to ask you about your meds. Did you ever get used to the higher doses? Did you say one of you meds was Lyrica? What kind of side effects does it have?

Hi Lesa, Michele, Angela, 2x2s and Mureen...hope everyone has a great week!:cheer2:

Good morning!

I was trying to post some details of Britt's trip, but I was having problems with my internet and lost everything.

She seemed to have a great time. She met a lot of Fabi's (her girlfriend) family. The people you saw her with in the pictures were of the family. She said a lot of the younger kids were learning English, but mostly Fabi and her mom had interpret both ways. They all thought Britt had beautiful eyes and very pale skin. She said she got lots of honks and yells in the street and young children would stare at her and run when she would look at them. Then they would sneak around to look at her again. Talk about sticking out like a sore thumb!:lmao:

When they got to Guatemala and the night before their flight home they stayed at Abuelita's (Fabi's great grandmother) house in Guatemala City.

This is Abuelita getting her shoe shined. :)
100_0407.jpg

Guatemala City is apparently not the safest area in Guatemala as you can tell with all the chicken wire and bars on the windows.:scared:

She found it very interesting all the people on the street trying to sell stuff to make money. She said they try to sell just about anything. At one point someone came up to the van and tried to sell them a bag of pet fish. I think she said they did buy some bananas from someone that came up to them.

This is a man selling something, sort of looks like onions.
100_0467.jpg

This is a chicken place they ate in. She said it was just like McDonalds but with the most amazing chicken ever.

This is the hotel they stayed in in Antigua. She said the views from it were beautiful.

You can see the volcano in the background. They didn't get to climb the volcano they ran out of time.
100_0524.jpg

She was excited she found a sign she could read!:rotfl2:
100_0531.jpg

They are very religious in Guatemala. I guess Semana Santa (Holy week) is very big there and they do lots of things leading up to it. While they were there they got to see a religious processional. She said it was very colorful and lots of smoke.

On the ground there was beautiful art called alfombra” sculptures (I had to look it up because she couldn't tell me what they were or what they were for). They are made in the path of the procession made of colored saw dust, wood chips, pine needles, vegetables, fruit, palm tree seed pods, plastic figurines, and many, many flowers. I wish she would have taken more pictures of these as I can only imagine how beautiful and intricate they were. This person's blog had some pictures of them being made and some really beautiful ones.
100_0572.jpg

I'll try and post more later today. Yes there were a lot of pictures of a dog! :confused3 It was the dog of one of Fabi's cousins I believe and the dog went everywhere with them.

Some Antigua Ruins distroyed by earthquakes...While these are uploading (slowly I might add) to photobucket I looked up some info. A lot of the cathedrals were built in the 1700s.

Market place....I wish she would have taken more pictures here. I would have loved to see some of the women weaving things. Britt bought a bag from here and it is very beautifully done. They are apparently pretty superstitious there also. A women gave the girls tiny handmade dolls and they were given to the grandmother to be blessed in case they were cursed.

Here is the house that she called begging us to buy. Tell me what you think!:confused3;):lmao: She even picked who gets what room.

Her room comes complete with it's own bathroom as you can tell with the picture on the right with an arrow pointing to the door.

I'll post more tomorrow. Photobucket is running kid of slow tonight.

I hope everyone is well!

We are still in the process of painting, that's what we did most of the weekend. I have to prime and repaint the whole darn downstairs ceiling!:headache: I put some primer on a spot that paint wouldn't cover, now the paint won't cover the primed area. The walls are taking 3 coats of primer in themselves.:headache:

I am having an issue with the bottom of my bad foot. The spot where they went in and took out some bone and inserted one of the rods has turned very dark. I went to my doctor this week and she referred me to a foot specialist but the appointment is not for two more weeks. The area is right in the middle of the bottom of my heel, so it's not really possible to keep pressure off of it if I walk. I am trying not to walk as much as possible but you know how that goes.:rolleyes1 Since I have no feeling there, I am not in any discomfort. It's not like what Linda went through when she had such pain in her foot.

Maureen

Let us know when you find out about your foot!

Lesa I loved the pictures when I first saw them but even more now that I know the story behind them. I want to print some off and take them to my kids at school. We have been studying Central America.

That art done on the ground is amazing!!

Mornin' everyone!!

Lesa.....Like Michele, I thought Britt's pictures were beautiful, but now they have more meaning knowing the stories behind them. It's an experience that Britt will remember for a lifetime.
The new house doesn't look like much; maybe a decorator could work wonders.;)

Linda.....Good luck with school!! Hope your first day went well!!

YourMajesty.......Did you say a bowl of icecream??!!:scared1: I read how many calories a Baskin Robbins treat had in it and almost fainted!!:faint:
I guess Gary will be making his trek to Lawton this weekend; I'll have him honk and wave as he goes by.:car:

Maureen.......Take care of yourself. We'll be thinking of you.

2x2s......didn't hear anything from you this weekend. How's it goin'? Did you get your painting finished? I think I'm past due for a luncheon/shopping trip. ;)

I've put together a little breakfast croissant this morning. I hope it suits some of our young ones.pirate::rolleyes1

I hope you all have a Tremendous Tuesday!!:cool1::dance3:

Good morning!

Yes the pictures definitely have more meaning when you know what they are. Unfortunatly I have had to research most of it myself because getting info from Britt is like pulling teeth.:headache: She has been extra busy taking care of her overly needy friends that she can't be bothered to give me details!

Britt is now known as an "expert" on boys. She is the go to girl that her friends (and now a boy) go to for advice on guys (well the guy is asking advice about a girl;)). Now one may be a little :scared1: when you hear that your daughter considered an "expert" or "has experience" with guys, right!!! :thumbsup2 One may wonder how their dd got this expertise that has girls (and guy) lined up waiting to get advise on. Well one way is to be the only girl in the group to ask a pretty popular (even though a jerk) guy to a dance and have him say yes. But the best of the best advise she has to give comes from.......books! She reads constantly and a lot of what she reads are teen romance novels. :lmao::scared1::rotfl2: Some of her best advice has been "all teen guys are jerks" and "tell him your not that kind of girl". Now if she can continue to take her own advice I'll be happy! :thumbsup2

Linda I hope your first day went well!

YM I'm glad your headache is doing better! How is your DS holding up now that spring is sort of here? We got a bit of snow the other day too. It was a very heavy snow that had my rather large lilac bush laying flat on the ground. Thankfully it melted quickly and my bush perked back up.

Donna when does Nathan start his games? Sorry you had to cancel your trip. I was thinking of booking for the free dining because Maddie really wants to go again. We'll see, I know I can't wait too long. We are already going back to Great Wolf Lodge for a few days in June. That is pretty much a free trip though.

Speaking of Great Wolf Lodge I don't think I told you how that was. I'll have to upload some picture (minus the ones of me in my bathing suit ;)) and give a mini TR on it.

2x I hope all is well.

Today is the first day Britt has had her hair down so I can see what the whole haircut looks like. I have to say I think it is the best haircut she has ever had. :rolleyes1 Looking at her this morning she is stunningly beautiful. Sadly she can't go to Guatemala every time she needs her hair done.

They had a different processional at night. Most of her night shots didn't turn out very well. Britt said their floats looked like giant caskets. I can only imagine how heavy those things are.:scared:
