So I just finished a trip where our character breakfasts included Tusker House, Crystal Palace, and Cape May. We loved all of them but Cape May was our overall favorite (food and selection was equally as good as the other two, while being more laid back with better character interaction).

I'm planning another trip for later this year with my parents (who have only ever eaten CS at Disney and are sort of down on Disney food generally). I'm again planning on Tusker House and Crystal Palace on days we visit AK and MK respectively. However, I'm struggling to decide between Cape May and Chef Mickey's for our departure day breakfast (assume we will have plenty of time to make our flight, regardless of which one we choose).

If we were staying in an Epcot resort, this would be an easy choice but my plan is to stay in the Poly and Chef Mickey's is so much easier to get to (my parents may be sort of worn out by then), plus it's sort of an icon and none of us have ever eaten there. On the other hand, we really loved Cape May, whereas Chef Mickey's is somewhat of an unknown quantity.

Should I go out of my way to return to Cape May or should I try Chef Mickey's instead?

We have never been to Chef Mickeys, but Cape May is our favorite! It has such a big variety and the character interaction is great. I would choose Cape May.

We love Cape May Breakfast, it is a must do each time we go to Disney...the character interaction is awesome and the food is really good. However, if you are staying at the Poly and this will be on your departure day, I would suggest going to CM. We have eaten there twice (once for breakfast and once for dinner) and both times we weren't very happy only because the food was so-so and the characters seemed to be rushed. The good thing is you get to see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto and it is worth trying at least once. Even though we love Cape May, I would be wary about the travel time to get to BC and then back to your resort to catch ME (if you are using ME that is). Good luck deciding.

We did both Cape May and Chef Mickey's in September. Our family of five had a lot of fun and a very nice breakfast at both locations. I see quite a bit of negative reviews regarding Chef Mickey's but the food was fresh and quite good while we were there. The only thing I didn't love was that the characters went by much quicker at Chef Mickey's compared to Cape May.

Just do keep in mind that Chef Mickey's has a "party" every 15 minutes so the whole environment is much, much different from the more relaxed Cape May. That being said, it is nice to be able to see the Fab Five all in one place.

We haven't done Cape May yet (but plan on it for departure day for our upcoming trip) but I have to agree with this about Chef Mickey's. The characters did come by quick and didn't spend much time at the tables and it did seem like there were a lot of parties.

The food was typical breakfast fare. Nothing stands out in my mind, but I don't remember anything being bad either.

Give Chef Mickey's a try! It will be convenient for you, and it is a great experience.

enjoy :wizard:

in my opinion, is better if you aren't looking for a particular character.

I would think you could hop the monorail to the MK and catch a bus to the Beach Club.

Speaking from experience in eating at both places I do think that you feel a bit "rushed" at Chef Mickey's than you do at Cape May, and sometimes the timing of the characters is not as good. You can go forever without seeing a character at Chef M and then all of a sudden 3 or 4 will come right after another.

That being said I think you have to experience Chef M at least once and I think the breakfast food at Chef M is much better than the dinner food. If you have already been to Cape May I'd try Chef M.

Stick w/ Cape May!!!
We aren't fans of Chef Ms anymore since it's nosedive decline. Cape May is STILL tops in our book.:lovestruc

Cape May would be my choice. We like Chef Mickey's, but Cape May is our favorite for breakfast and it's always a must do for us every trip :goodvibes. Chef Mickey's would be more convenient if you're staying at the Poly, but as the pp said, you can always take the monorail to MK and then grab a bus from there to the BC ;).

This is 100% true. At Chef M i waited FOREVER to see the characters. I mean FOREVER. Then they all came at once. very odd. I wasnt pleased with this breakfast at all. I didnt like the selection or quality of food. But i agree that everyone should try it at least once in their life. The characters are pretty awesome and funny.

I love Cape May waaaaay better than Chef M. I totally agree with you on this.

But i still think its nice trying new things, since she's been to Cape May before. And since Chef M is easier to get to, then thats a bonus. But beware of all the NOISE and parades and napkin waving. its soooo loud in there. Lol! If this is a concern, i'd stick to Cape May. Much quieter and peaceful.

Another Cape May Breakfast vote here. So much more relaxed and enjoyable.

My son hated Chef Mickey's (he is noise sensitive). The birds and monorail noise and the open area high ceiling just made the whole experience miserable for him.
The food was "meh" We have done all the character breakfasts and this is our least favorite.

Cape May is awesome! nice and relaxed atmosphere, great food! chef mickeys isnt good IMHO. Food isnt great, and its CRAZY loud in there!
