Because of how high up the balloon is, you can see it from pretty much everywhere in the World Showcase. It looked to me like line of sight was over Mexico, so perhaps if you're in Mexico, you wouldn't be able to.

We'll just have to solve this little mystery in Sept/Oct girls! I was actually thinking of doing the balloon ride since I'll be in DTD getting my shop on the morning of MNSSHP. Should be interesting since I'm afraid of heights.

I'm looking forward to hopefully trying the balloon. Although I hear weather conditions frequently impact operation. You're afraid of heights, Heidi? Well that should be an interesting ride for you! You'll have to help yourself to a margarita after you ride!

Hi! So nice to see you here! Yes, I've been quite lucky with some of the Disney fan special events. I certainly can't complain. I can't wait to see what this trip will bring! How are you? What's new? Am I nuts or did you take another trip?

Well, tomorrow is the big day. Food & Wine events open for booking at 7am tomorrow. I am only trying for one "big" item - tickets for Jen and me to see the Deen brothers on 9/26. Not sure how many seats are available but seems like that will be pretty popular. I think we have good attitudes about it and while it would be great to see them it will neither make nor break the trip so if it's not meant to be...

That said I will still be programming the # into my phone and compulsively hitting redial starting at 6:55am.

I'd also like to try a tequila tasting which is $35 so I'll see if I can book one of those.

That's it. Think that's all I'm trying for. I'm easy to please and the F&W kiosks are just about enough in and of themselves for me.

I can't believe the trip is getting to be so close now. I can't wait!!!

Well, I was armed and ready this morning. Started calling at 5 minutes til 7 and got the "our offices are closed" message several times. Then finally it went through. Jackpot! Or so I thought...

It sounded to me like it was the regular dining # (I would have thought they'd create a special line for these events? ) so I had to punch 1 to speak English and 2 to book reservations and enter my home phone # with area code while standing on one foot and rubbing my stomach.

Then I sat on hold for 10 minutes. And I had called right at 7.

Then I got an operator who didn't seem to understand the critical nature of these reservations.

Then I found out that the date for the Deen Brothers had changed. Instead of the 26th they are now going to be there on the 3rd (my departure day). I could still swing it though but by the time she looked it up they were sold out. Sorry, Jen!

I know... I said I wouldn't let it make or break my trip. But I'm bummed.

I was able to book the tequila tasting at the new tequila bar in Mexico.

Hope that those of you trying for other events had better luck!

But that tequlia tasting sound fun!!! Im sure youll enjoy that I saw on a Samantha Brown episode once were she did a tequila tasting! It was very, very cool! I never realized that tequlia is more then just Jose Cuervo and a lot like wine in the tastes and different kinds! She looked like she was having a good time tasting it

Hi Christine. Sorry about your F&W phone experiences this morning ... I totally understand and sympathize. I also got through right away only to end up with the slowest most cognitively impaired CM it's ever been my misfortune to speak with. She put me on hold for 15 minutes and then disconnected me.

Luckily I had already started calling back on my cell phone and got through about 6:40 this morning. Got what I wanted even though I had to be a little flexible with the tequila tasting we wanted to try.

Now I'm going back to check on my ADRs to make sure that first CM didn't wipe them all out by accident (or on purpose).

I think tequila tasting will be fun too. I'm having dinner after that with Jen so she may be in for quite a treat! I really can't wait to see what the new tequila bar is like within the pavilion. I think I've read that it's on the right as you walk in? I just love that pavilion.

Hope your other ADRs were safe and glad you were able to eventually get what you wanted. You'd really think Disney would better prepare the CM's to deal with the calls.

Today is apparently not my day for great CM's. I just called (~5:30pm). Went through the whole rigamarole with the CM. Used the tricks from this morning and gave the time and location of the event to try to help her look it up. Sounds like maybe they've changed the system already. Then I hear her say "9/26" and I say that I think they've changed the date. She says "yeah, hold on, I'm reading something."

So she finally got to the date and lo and behold the system is not accepting reservations right now. That does not necessarily mean there is no availability so she very helpfully told me to "try back some other time."



Me thinks this may not be meant to be.

The CM did comment that it had been a crazy day and that day one of F&W bookings always were. Ummm... hello Disney... maybe you could prepare for that?!

Ummm, how can the system not be accepting reservations? I did hear that it crashed this morning around 9AM CST ... a purely selfish "thank gawd I'm done" flashed through my brain when I read that post. Disney did manage to bring it back up pretty quickly so keep trying if you have the time - they will be open until 9PM, won't they?
