OMG! There was probably half of the Brazil country at Disney this week. Saw different groups of up to 40 at a time. They took up half the parks population.

We stayed at the Polynesian two weeks ago (July 2nd-July 6th) and a Brazilian tour group of 300 teenagers were also staying there.

We were there last weekend and tour groups were every where. Though they were pretty decent at least those we were around. The only problems I had was them chanting in the Soarin line and then later before fireworks we were trying to leave and there was this big long chain of them crossing by the ice cream shop on main street. I mean really a chain of them they had locked arms and no one could walk thru them to go toward the exit which caused a huge bottle neck. Walking ANY WHERE in the parks with arms linked like that should not be allowed for these huge groups.

Dang, I was afraid of that--I'm there starting tomorrow.

Quick, anybody know how to say 'Y'all settle down now, y'hear?' in Portuguese?

anyone say anything to them while chanting in Soarin line? or push through them with the arms locked?

I am really calm and I get annoyed but I generally shy and say nothing...but once in a blue moon I get the urge to give people back what they give. I would have pushed through the arms of people all while saying excuse me of course> LOL the chanting would be enough for me to leave the line.

Is February a big time for them too? I think I heard that. sigh.

Yes, but usually smaller and more family type groups. Not as much of the chanting, linking arms thing but definitely still the line jumping.

When we were there January into February, they were everywhere! We didn't have any problems. Of course they were spirited, but that doesn't bother me. We just made sure and headed to a different part of the parks...not because they were rude or annoying, just because there were so many of them. I can't imagine they actually get to do that many attractions in a day grouping up like that.

To push thru their human chain would of hurt someone for sure they weren't just holding hands they were linked at the elbow this looked very practiced. I feel they carry a flag FOLLOW the flag don't link arms, it was so crowded to begin with then to have this group of maybe 50 or more people linked arms and walking ACROSS main street not down it in either direction totally cut off both flows of traffic away from the castle and toward the castle.

Yes some one did hush them in Soarin. I saw a cast member approach what appeared to be a guide or leader of some sort and that person turned to the group and made a quiet down gesture that then the kids then turned around and did it to the kid behind them till it reached the end of the group. They had just arrived in the line and I was about to leave it had they not hushed up the chanting as it was just too much. It's one thing chanting out in the open but totally different in a closed confides of a building like that.

Forgot one other bad thing from this weekend.. we were at the phone booths in the UK my daughter wanted a picture in front of one and she was standing there as I was about to click the picture a swarm of tour group girls can rushing the phonebooths. We didn't get the picture I couldn't even find my daughter in the swarm she had to push her way out and back with us thank goodness she's a teen and not my younger one who would of been in tears by being over whelmed by so many people so fast (and not being able to see us). If we weren't AP holders it would of made us mad but since we have AP's and will just get the photo next time we were there it was more of an annoyance then something to get mad about.

I just got home yesterday and was pretty frustrated at the huge groups that were there. I found them to be standing in lines about 7 to 10 across and then about 20 lines back. If one of the cut you off from your group you couldn't catch up to who you were with (we were with some extended family so we had 12 people). However, my biggest fear was being seperated from one of my little kids...it was scary. Even in the stroller we were cut off and then trying to catch up to the group proved difficult at times.

I also didn't like the group of 50 to 100 people screaming, cheering, and chanting. I know everyone has a right to be there, but I love listening to the music and sounds of Disney, it helps create a great experience. I found it hard to hear any music on Main Street and Epcot with all the screaming. Just a little pet peeve of mine....

Oh boy . . . I'm packing my patience for this trip - it's been a looooong time since I've had to be in the parks in July. Last Aug we did see a very few groups - one group surrounded us as we were sitting on the curb waiting for MSEP to begin. The girls were so close behind us that their toes were touching our butts - lol. After getting hit in the head and back with a shopping bag, I asked the girls to move back - they tried but they were a big group - so we stood up and DGrD(7) started trying to talk to them as she found them soooo cool. They were very sweet to her and all compared wrist bands, etc. DNeph(13) wasn't too unhappy to be surrounded by teen girls;). Once the parade started we discovered a hidden benefit of standing amongst the Paraguayan teens - they screamed (loudly!) in unison to every character, who looked, waved and interacted with them when they did. Those are the BEST parade pics I've taken in 37 years!!! :rotfl: So next week I'll be breathing deeply and trying to look for the silver lining - at least the teen boys with me will be happy.:goodvibes

I just got back from WDW and it was impossible not to notice them. There were so many different tour groups as well, not just two or three! Apart from being everywhere, they were pretty well behaved in my opinion. I heard a bunch of them singing on the queue for Dinosaur. And another time a spontaneous USA vs. Brazil chant broke out in one of the lines but other than that I can't complain.
Oh except that one of the groups was also in the airport when we were leaving and got in line right behind us for security. Again, well behaved but it was off peak hours for security so whoever got in line behind them were in for a long wait.

LOL! The tour groups were everywhere last year in July!! My DS,15, did not mind at Typhoon Lagoon ;)

Wait, Brazilian teenagers taking over WDW? I really need to start learning my Portuguese... or at least see if they can understand me yelling in German. :surfweb:

I am guessing they are here now is probably because the seasons "flip" across the equator. Since we are approaching fall, they might be on their spring break. They probably will be gone in a month or two.

There were a lot of kids and teens at the MacDonalds outside of Disney the other evening but we had no problems ordering, finding seating and they were all very well behaved. Perhaps they were knackered? ;)
(We had just left Blizzard Beach at 8:30pm).

Looks like we'll be experiencing some Brazilian culture on our trip a week from now! On our previous 2 trips, we've gone in June and never saw a tour group. This will definitely be something new!

On our last trip to WDW in July, we said never again! My DD, 4 at the time, was pushed to the ground on several occasions by members of these massive/ numerous groups. A cast member told me that they have pushed small children into the water on Kali Rapids before:scared1:

We will NEVER visit in July again!

We saw a lot of groups as well from July 4-11. It didn't really affect us much. I was always able to overtake them if we happened to be headed in the same direction. On a couple of the queues in MK we heard them chanting, but that was really it. Not a big deal for us.

When we were visiting the princesses at MK, we heard Belle ask some people where they were from. When they said Brazil, Belle laughingly asked them if there were any people left in Brazil that week because she had met so many Brazilians that week. :rotfl:

Are they in all the parks, I guess i'm wondering if we are in MK and it's too much, if we hop over to HS will they be there as well? Are there that many groups?

I was wondering this as well. We usually don't get hoppers because my kids like to do one park each day, but if we need to when we get there I'll definitely get them! Anyone know if there's a pattern they follow? Morning EMH parks, evening EMH, etc.?
