We were given a trip to branson from our BFs and we were wanting to make it as much of a budget trip as possible, since this is one of 3 major trips we are taking this summer.

I really want to go to Silver Dollar City, but do not like the prices. I know they have some deals like buy 1 day get 2nd free, but Im looking more for something like buy one ticket get on free, we are a family of 5 (only 4 have to pay to get in) and hope to only have to pay for 2 tickets and get the other 2 free or atleast half off. Anyone know of such a deal?

Also, anyone thats been there that knows some fun cheap or free things to do with kids? We are thinking about the moonshine beach, but what else is there? We like fun things, not museums, site seeing, etc.

I'm not sure, but i'm guessing you won't find that big of a discount on the tickets. The best we've ever found for SDC tickets was through our bank, about $10 off base price.
We find Branson to be somewhat an expensive vacation destination, for our family at least. But we like to do SDC, go karts, mini golf, the attractions like Titanic, Ripleys, wax museum, etc...It really adds up quick! I would say the mini golf is fairly reasonably priced, there are coupon books at the hotels with great coupons. Stone Hill winery tours are free, and include samples. Not much fun for the kids though.

We just got back from there, and to be honest I wasn't super impressed with Silver Dollar City. My husband really liked White Water, but I didn't go with them that day because my teenage daughter wasn't feeling well.

The kids loved riding the ducks, they asked to do that again before we left... the had some pretty good rates online (well, as good as it gets for them - 4 pack for 54.00)

We went and saw a few shows and the favorite by far was the Kirby Vanburch magic show... but it really depends on how old your kids are.

Cirque Montage was ok, but kids got in free so it was a big plus for us. (since we were mostly kids) 10 of us went for 147.00

When you get to Branson they have tons of coupon books all over, make sure you check those out.

Thank you for the help both of you! I dont think we will do white water because our next vacation, towards the end of July is a water park resort in the mountains (seiverville TN) so no need really. We have free mini golf at our resort, probably not the best, but its free. I thought about the Ducks, what is it like exactly? How long does it last? Our kids are 3(g),11(g), and 13(b) so anything else anyone thinks we would enjoy would appreciated.

i looked into two more options for SDC. one was Illinois Farm Bureau but it was only $5 savings. Then I looked at a website called www.bransontickets.com
Has oneone used them? They are offering 2 days of tickets for $55 adult and $45 kids. I want to make sure this is a website to trust. They seem legit to me, but not sure. I dont think it is possible to share the tickets and only buy two of them, so wondering also is SDC something that we would enjoy for 2 days?

Thanks again!

We avoid SDC in the summer because of the heat. It is built in a low area of the hills.....very hot, and very little breeze. Many of the rides involve getting wet...soaking wet, which is okay if you like that. With the humidity, it takes a long time to dry. You really have to get to the park early or you will be waiting a long time in lines. SDC has very few air conditioned rides, although a few shows do take place indoors. The park does not stay open really late, so you can't really take advantage of the cooler temperatures later in the evening. When we go in the cooler months, we buy our tickets from AAA. They offer 2 days for 55.00. White Water is our choice in the summer. I think we have been so many times that we feel like we can skip SDC in the summer.

Branson can be a very expensive place to visit. Everything "fun" costs money, and with kids it really adds up. The Duck rides is fun, but costly. A few shows offer free tickets for kids or at least reduced rates. Some places offer a family pass. If you do a Google search you will find lots of information on shows and deals for the area.

The above web site has a good message board.

Don't forget the fish hatchery and dam. They are free and a nice way to spend an afternoon.

For SDC if you arrive after 3 you can go the next day on the same ticket. And they do offer multi day passes and season passes. Here is the official site:http://www.bransonsilverdollarcity.com/tickets/default.aspx?track=SDCMPSPASS&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=silver%20dollar%20city&utm_content={K_CREATIVE_HEADLINE}&utm_campaign=Silver%20Dollar%20City%20-%20Branded

They offer an evening show included with your ticket that is fun.

There are 3 new zip lines in the area.

You can rent a pontoon boat for the day at What's up Dock on spend the day on the lake.
