Hello, my name is Sue and I am new here and a bit overwhelmed by the talk of point renting/trading and such, but it sounds like it can be a great deal with the right parties on both sides. I am interested in "renting" a studio at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge or other property close to WDW from April 17 thru 22 (check out in AM on 22nd). I was going to wait until next year as I am a single mom of a small child and needed to save more money. However, my 81 year old dad's prostate cancer (which has been stable for many years) has come back and the doctors honestly don't know how much more time he has before he will become too ill to travel. He is the only grandparent my five year old daughter has left, and I'd really like her to have a special memory of her first trip to Disney with him (of course now I have to go buy a camcorder so I can tape everything, lol!) Anyways, looking at the points chart for that resort at that time looks like it would "cost" 75 points. Does anyone have anything available? I sincerely appreciate your interest and patience with someone who is new to this. Thank you!

Sue...
go to the points forum and I am pretty sure that there will be someone with points to rent. THey will have to call and see if they can get a ressie for the time and constraints that you want. If they can, usually the point rental cost is $10 a point.

We took my daughter's only grandad to WDW when she was 11 months and he was 81!. What an incredible memory that she can watch on video forever. Our daughter thinks she remembers that trip...but it is the 'memory' of watching the video. But hey...is means just as much to her and is a lovely thing to do. Have a grand time, video as much as you can and create special memories for you and your child forever!

Definitely list this on the rent/trade board. I think you may get lucky and find availability for those days.

BTW, all DVC resorts are not just near WDW, but are right IN WDW. You really couldn't go wrong renting from any of the DVC locations. VWL will be closest to the Magic Kingdome though, if that is where you want to spend most of your time.

Sue,

If you want to ask "does anyone have any points to rent?" questions, those should go on the Rent/Trade board.
But this forum is absolutely the right place to ask any ohter questions you may have about points or renting -- so don't be afraid to ask!

When you go, you may want to check out Leave a Legacy at Epcot. I believe you have your picture taken, it gets etched on a metal tile, and is permanently displayed at Epcot. That would be a great thing for your daughter to show her grandkids in a few years.

I'm sorry I didn't check out the details of Legacy when we were up there a couple of weeks ago. Maybe one of our salty vets can fill in the blanks for us.
