We're wrapping up an Anniversary trip (Pop Century & AsMu) and we'll be at CSR July 3-11 with our kids along. We visited CSR yesterday and ate lunch at Pepper Market and checked out the resort a bit so we'd be more familiar with it when we return. I chatted with the CM at Concierge desk where I picked up a resort map, and she pointed out some features of the different sections (most of which I already knew about from reading here!). She also said that they're planning to try to keep the Latin American tour groups in Cabanas 8A in July which was great information for me and I though may also be helpful for others here!

We'll be driving ourselves about 90% of the time, so bus stop proximity isn't important to us. We also plan to never visit the restaurants, so we want to be close to parking and the main pool. Based on that, I'd requested Cabanas 8B (was told 9A was Concierge level and not available for request). I was in WDW last July at this same time offsite at a Windsor Hills home, but I know how the tour groups can be in the parks. I don't want to even be in the building next to them and where they'd be walking back to their room because I picture them doing their chanting as they return to their rooms!

We drove around the resort and I'm planning to change my request to Casitas 5 which looks like a reasonably short walk to the main pool. Does this seem like a good location request for us for parking & main pool as our primary concerns? We really don't care about the outside surroundings of the different sections at all because it's going to be too hot to enjoy any of the atmosphere. We also definitely want a renovated room...

First, I assume that you meant 9B was Concierge, not 9A).

Casitas 5 is where we've stayed the most often. It takes me about 8 minutes to walk to the main pool from there at a leisurely pace (I stop and take pictures and always look for "Glen"). Parking is a very short walk...two minutes at most (parking surrounds the entire resort).

At CSR now.
The only complaint I have is with housekeeping. I'm giving it one more day before I complain. We have been here since Monday and have only received toiletries once. We have not had a bag for our ice bucket on two different occasions (not a real big deal), we had asked for extra towels ealier in the week and had been using them for the quiet pool and the other day the maid removed them from the room (no they hadn't been used, they were sitting on top of DD's suitcase) and the kicker was last night picked up one of the glasses and it was filthy dirty, all three glasses were dirty. I have left a tip everyday not expecting anything more than a clean room. I'm sure not everyone has this experience and I hope it doesn't deter anyone from this resort because the resort it beautiful. We couldn't have a better location for our room and the bus service is awesome. I just think they need to work on some of the housekeepers.

Here's hoping the service gets better between now and Wed. I'll let you all know.

ITA, tell Housekeeping Management your issues sooner rather than later! Had a split stay earlier this month, POP/CSR/BC and the only resort I encountered an issue was at the BC - once I made the call even though the person on the phone didn't sound too concerned - within 5 minutes there were 2 CM's and the Building Manager at the door, to correct what was wrong & check the rest of the room.

Usually we go through the Mousekeeper first, that's always worked but in this case had just checked in & there were issues.

Enjoy your stay, I LOVED CSR!! :cloud9:

i would like to give many thanks out to all the users who've contributed to this thread and helped so many of us plan our trips with the knowledge that's been shared here. this coming august the fiance and I will enjoy our honeymoon and will be staying at CSR for 7 nights, my first trip at WDW :). i've really enjoyed the planning and preparations that go into a WDW trip which is made all the more easier when resources like this forum and thread are readily available. thanks and keep up the good and much appreciated work.

7B is back!

In other news, I will be disappearing for a few days. Last night, my washing machine decided to overflow and flooded my bathroom, hallway, bedroom, and half of the living room. This is the second time my apartment has flooded (the first time was due to the idiots upperstairs who kept their heat running which melted the plastic on the sprinkler causing it to go off). Atleast this time I didn't lose anything!

Hi mareed! We have exactly the same dates at CSR :goodvibes.
Thanks for the update on the tour groups, that just made our room request dillemma a lot easier :thumbsup2.

FINALLY...I can't wait to start booking ADRs on July 25th now for our Oct 23-30 trip to Coronado...this was in the All Ears Newsletter last night and I was just on the Disney site and it looks like it's true (although I can't test it out yet!):

"Advance Dining Reservations can now be made through the disneyworld.com website. You can find the links to online booking via the main restaurant page (see the yellow block with the link to online booking under restaurants that accept ADR). When making your reservations, you can choose the date, and time, number of adults and children who will be dining. (You can also choose a range of dates if you are flexible.) If the dates/times you choose are not available, the system will offer alternatives"

I'm so excited about this! Apparently I don't have enough posts yet to include the URL or e-mail address for All Ears...sorry I can't include it!

We're leaving tomorrow for CSR. We last stayed there 9 years ago. I was planning to bring our CSR mugs down. I thought I heard that you can no longer get free refills at the Pepper Market. Is this correct? If so, is there anywhere on property where we can fill our mugs?

First, be careful with the "bringing your mugs back." The mugs are only good for the length of stay when purchased and I don't remember what they looked like nine years ago and might be different than the ones they have now.

You can refill your mugs at Cafe Rix (the new "grab and go") and also at Siesta's at the main pool.

I am back from another fabulous stay at CSR! We requested Cabanas 8B but got 9A-close enough! Our room was renovated and nice and clean! The kids love the pool and go down the slides over and over again (which is nice since I can relax on the stairs and watch them). One of the lifeguards was really cool one night, too. He was shouting out trivia to a bunch of people. He was doing general stuff and then went onto requests, like specific movies.
As for the Pepper Market, we actually ate there several times. Ih ad the fajita, quessadillas, and burger. DH had the ribeye, tuna steak, and chicken sandwich. The Oreo cake was good as a dessert option on the DP, but I did not care for the carrot cake. It was dry and didn't have cream cheese frosting. Our service was friendly and the whole set up is not confusing at all (since I know this is a common complaint).
Bus service- awesome! Having stayed at ASMo last trip, I really apprecited the bus service at CSR. We never waited too long and I think we only stood once. I like the multiple stops and shaded waiting areas, too, which is nicer than at the values.
My favorite person at CSR was Laura in concierge and at the front desk. I will be writing a letter later this week to let WDW know of wht a great employee she is! I also met 2 DISers...cpayne and tinkerbell 211!
Anyway, I will post pics soon.
Oh, my one complaint...my mom and sister joined us for the weekend and had requested a room near to us, just as I had requested. They were in Casitas-they could not have been any farther away! That was annoying!

JamesLynn, I am sorry to hear your troubles. How frustrating!
Thanks for checking in with us and for the updates.

Perhaps I will meet you in person when my family arrives in 9 days!

We are so looking forward to our first stay at CSR.
I checked-in online yesterday! :yay::yay: I decided to first request Casitas 4 or 5, and then the Cabanas. I am just hoping for a renovated room!

KatMark:

Are the king matresses new? I know that some of the queen rooms have been set aside to be converted to kings..and those of course will be new....but were the old king beds replaced? I keep hearing how wonderful the new queen matresses are....I'm hoping the kings are nice too.

Good question...but I'm not sure. I'll try to find out.

We have decided to stay at CSR next year! With all the good comments, it really wasnt a hard decision. There will be 6 of us, last year at POR we had connecting rooms it was the perfect fit. But now I'm doing research on this resort. How are the junior suites? Would a suite be enough room for 3 adults and 3 children? Or are we better off hoping for adjoining rooms?

TIA!!!

We had a junior suite last year -- just DH and I. I think if you get one (which his basically two adjoining rooms with a pull down stucco (I think that is the name) in the second room and two queen beds in the other room, you will be fine. I loved it when we had the suite...two bathrooms, TWO TELEVISIONS, etc.
