Hi,
Can any of you tell me the brand of shoes/trainers that have some sort of wheel under the heal area. We saw lots of boys wearing these when we over in florida a couple of weeks ago.

thanks.

I think they are called "wheelies." At least that is what SIL was calling them, when she told us what she got her son for Christmas.

lizdotcom - that's it - heely's, that's what she was calling them! :bitelip:

They're big around here too. Our elementary school just banned them. They're pretty cool though.

Heelys and if you buy them online they tend to run small in sizes. I would buy a size up from what your child normally wears.

They drove us CRAZY at WDW last month. We were traveling with 2 ECV's and I can't tell you how many times my Mom and MIL about clipped some kids wearing them because they shot out in front of the ECV. I think they should be considered skates in the park and banned. I don't care if the kids want to wear them at home, but they have no place in the parks. JMO!

How about old guys at the parks? They look like they would give me a rest, LOL. We saw a kid the other day at our DIS meet, zipping around the restaurant on those, first time I ever saw them.

Heelys & if you order them from Dick's you can return them to the store if they do not fit. They may still have them in the store but they have more styles online. I have had alot of fun watching peoples faces as my girls float by. They look at you like HOW? I say " They are angels" :goodvibes

i HATE these shoes they ar dangeous
they have banned at all the schools here and kids fall everyday at the gricery store in them as they are flying around and no one is watching them
they are awful

DS9 wants a pair for WDW ... but they're pretty expensive for something he'll grow out of quickly and can only use in the summertime here. Forget heelys in the winter -- just won't work. And, he can't wear them to school as they're not part of uniform!!

I, too, wish they'd ban them from the parks/resorts/etc.! I find them a nuisance!

I don't like them either...I always see kids wearing them around here...feel like they're going to fly into me!

They are actually not supposed to be allowed to use the wheels at WDW, but the CMs don't tend to inforce it unless they see a problem.

That's all I'll say because you really don't want to know how I feel about them.

They are not just boys' shoes. My DD's both have them and one pair is black and pink. I don't see anything wrong with them. We have rules about when and where they can be worn and they know not to be running into people when they are wearing them.

My daughter has a pair as well, they are about impossible to find right now. I don't have a problem with the shoes, but I do have a problem with parents that don't properly supervise when, where and how their kids are using them. My daughter isn't allowed the wheels at school or various other places, and when I do allow her out in public places with me with the wheels in, I make sure I always have the plugs with me. If she pulls even the slightest rude or irresponsible move, it's off with her wheels!

My 10 yr old DD has wanted these for a while. I refuse to buy them. They are banned at school as well. For outside she has a scooter and bike, thats enough.

I'm not a huge fan of them, but DD8 has been asking for them since the begininng of the school year. When she didn't get any for Christmas she was bummed out. I told her that I didn't like them so I wouldn't spend my money on them, but if she wanted to save her allowance to buy them she could. So tonight we went to Bob's to get her Healy's with her saved up allowance ~ she was so proud of herself!!
She will not be able to wear them to school or in stores though

My DD wears them to school with the Plugs in wheels out. You have to let her show her friends!

Oh ~ I meant she wouldn't have the wheels in them for school!! She has been so excited and told all her friends about going to get them tonight. She asked me to wake her up at 7:15 tomorrow so she can practice int hem before school and she also asked if she could bring the wheels in her backpack to use from the school to the parking lot :rotfl:

Those things wreck havoc on the grocery store floors! I can't tell you how many times we have to tell kids (no parents around) to stop using them in the store. They think it's fun to wheel down the front of the store on them, we think it's an accident waiting to happen. Our floors are very slippery, if one of those kids fell, they could be hurt. What I really want to know is why parents think it's ok for their kids to use them like toys in a public atmosphere.

I see kids racing up and down the aisles at stores too. I wonder if they're not dangerous if the parents don't control where the kids use them? It's good to read that the DIS parents monitor their use. :)

I also agree that they ought to make grownup versions! They sure would help a person get to a PS on time. ;)
