I love statements like this.Ah, omniscience. It must be nice.
It's only necessary--for me, anyway--if I'm running, and even then it's only really necessary in cold weather. The reason is because I have exercise-induced asthma and only about 40% lung function. I think most of the 40% is dedicated to producing snot. Gross, I know, but there's no way I can "just swallow it," as some have suggested, or I'd soon be puking. Personally, if I were a bystander, I'd rather see somebody spit than puke, but maybe I'm in the minority here.![]()
It doesn't seem like omniscience is required when a person knows that they'll have this issue if it's cold outside.

I'm aware that if I'm outside when it's very cold and then I get into a warm bus, my nose will run. I tuck some tissues in my pocket and I don't have a problem.
