Boys/Men Spitting

Hi Everyone. Just curious how my DIS friends feel about spitting I was walking behind a teenage boy the other day and he spit about every 10 yards. Made me think back to my April vacation when the 10yo son of my friend was spitting and I asked him to stop and his mom (my friend) looked at me like I had three heads

The first time DS spit was the last time he did it in front of me I find it grotesque and quite unnecessary. What if we women went around spitting all the time? When watching DS play Little League all the boys spit, seemed to be "the thing to do" and no one else seemed to mind.

What do you guys think? I was making a list the other day of pet peeves I have for men to date (a friend thinks I"m getting a little too picky so "assigned" me this to do, lol) and this is in the top 3!

If you really have to, do it, but as discreetly as possible, I guess. Excesive spitting is gross, though.

It completely disgusts me and I don't know why it's so acceptable for men to do, yet we women understand that it's nasty.

At an amusement park this week, I saw a priest hock up a big one and let fly. A priest!!! Aren't they a little more educated than the average man?

I agree. There is a purpose for tissues and no reason why men can't use them.

Oh, this is one of my biggest peeves!! I have 2 teenage DS's and they both do it (the younger one moreso) and I think it's DISGUSTING!! Why can't they use a tissue/napkin?

I work downtown and just walking down the sidewalk and seeing all the spit all over the place....grosses me out! Esp. when you see moms waiting at the bus stop with their young kids who are sitting/lying on the sidewalk. YUK!!

Yup, and number two on the nasty habits lists would be the constant throat-clearers or hackers. I suppose if I understood why they felt the need to hack nonstop, I would understand more, though.

I'm a guy and I can't stand when other guys do this.

Also, why do guys have to spit in the urinal when the go in to use it?!?! I don't understand it, but it happens quite frequently.

Gross, gross, gross. I don't understand why it's suddenly so necessary for everybody to spit. And I see women/girls doing it too. Are we creating excess saliva these days? I really don't remember this being as prevalent years ago as it is now.

Spitting is vile! If you need to spit, do it into a tissue.

spitting for the fun of it is one thing, but at times you really don't have many other options.

And for the little leagures someone else mentioned....they may well be spitting out sun flower seed shells. THat has gone on in little league baseball for many many years and is what you're supposed to do with the shells after you eat the seeds.

Really? Because I am 46 years old and I have NEVER felt the need to spit on the street or anywhere else for that matter.

I just don't understand WHY so many men do this and it's so prevalent. It's disgusting, rude, and unnecessary.

I don't particularly care one way or the other, as long as it's done during an "as necessary" situation. I'm a woman, but I have exercise-induced asthma and I sometimes have to spit when I'm working out (but only outside, obviously!). But if it's just a "see just how unbelievably studly I am"-type scenario, then-- gross.

My neighbor is a spitter. He has a 4yo DD that my DD plays with. The little girl doesn't spit...but now has the habit of making that gross noise in the throat that some people make before they spit. It is beyond gross in a 4yo little girl.

I think spitting by anyone is gross. I do not understand why men think it is okay to spit. Can you imagine if wmen did it? There would be outrage and those same gross spitting men would be saying all sorts of nasty things about those ladies. It's not like men cannot understand how to use a tissue. They just chose not to. What next? Pulling their pants down and pooping when the urge hits? Gross gross gross!
