Boys in girls bathroom

My nephew and a few of his friends had this stupid conversation that lead to a bet at school as to if the girls room had mirrors in the bathroom.

Surprise. They got caught. They all got a one day in school suspension.

Some of the girls' parents are livid and think it should be much longer.

Some of the boys' parents on the other hand think it was a silly prank and it's not like they went into the stalls. One even is taking the line that if the teachers were doing their jobs instead of 'just handing out condoms' they wouldn't be all sexed up and would know the answer to such a stupid question without having to go in the room.

Why would teachers suppose teen boys are wondering as to whether or not girls bathrooms have mirrors?

I'd be a little annoyed, but it isn't at if they were hiding in stalls, it seems like an innocent enough prank. HOWEVER, had and if the boys are caught in the girls bathrooms in a stall trying to sneak a peak, well then, gloves off baby.

PS: That parent needs to learn that teen boys are "all sexed up" pretty much all the darned time, btw. The moron.

How old is your nephew? I think that would have a big impact on my opinion.

Those feelings about teachers being the reason that kids are "sexed up" are certainly... unique.

Well, depending on how old the boys were, after reading all the boys in the womens bathroom threads on here, they could pretty much use the excuse that my mother always makes me use the womens restroom when we go out and I just got confused! If they are under the age of 13, that should work for them after reading the DIS!

LOL! "My mother told me the men's room is NEVER safe!"

That parent is a moron. Why would teachers discuss the mirrors (or lack thereof) in the girls' washroom? And what does handing out condoms have to do with the likely of there being such a discussion?

I'm also confused by the age of the boys. I originally assumed (based on the inanity question/dare) very young children (like 8 year olds), but the bit about handing out condoms and being "sexed up" makes it sound more like high schoolers.

This sounds like elementary school, or MAYBE middle school. Sometime during the time where boys tend not to talk to girls, so they can't just ask the question.

I'd agree, it's a pretty harmless prank as long as they stayed out of the stalls. That would put it into an entirely different light. A one day in-school suspension sounds about right. A good slap on the wrist, but not excessive.

And back in MY day, now, we had to buy our OWN condoms, dagnab it! :rolleyes1

Durn kids... (wanders off, muttering)

Having been a teen boy at one time in my life and hearing the story (teen boys-bet, etc), they aren't telling you the whole thought process, but what makes them sound the best.

I mean anyone really wanting to know if there are mirrors would simply ask a girl if there were.

The real story was probably I bet you won't go in the girls' bathroom. The mirror part was added to make them sound less threatening (they knew they shouldn't be in the bathroom).

If they just got caught going in quickly and coming out (the mirror story was somewhat true), then one-day sounds about fair. If they were caught going in, hiding and locking a stall, or anything else but a quick in and out, they deserve a longer suspension.

Honestly, this is a victimless prank and should be treated as such. This is not some sexual assault.

Heck there was a poster on the last thread that said up to 15 was OK !!!!!

I was just thinking of that. :rolleyes1

As others have said, how old are the boys? And, why is it the teacher's job? IMHO, it is the parents job to teach the boys not to cave to peer pressure and that boys are not allowed in girls bathrooms and vice versa. Teacher's are damned if they do and damned if they don't these days. I really feel bad for them. How about teaching personal accountability??? I bet if they actually enforced a punishment, there would be fewer people doing it.

Geeze... times have changed. When I was in high school (graduated in 97) that prank probably wouldn't even get you detention.

I think it's just a silly little prank that boys do and people need to calm down.

They didn't go in there to see mirrors. As we have learned on the DIS the chance of getting raped if you go into the men's room alone is hovering between 99.9998% and 99.9999% so they were just trying to be safe. You know, like mother insists.

Really, I think every boy around 5th grade or so tries to sneak into the girls bathroom just to say they did it. If they are hiding in a stall with a Chloroform covered rag it's one thing. A quick run in and back out is something else. You have to be kind of an idiot to get caught though. It sounds like pretty normal middle school boy behavior to me.

They have to be young....cause almost any guy of dating age knows that most time females only go to the bathroom to look at themselves in a mirror. ;)

The above post is correct -- this is a typical 5th / 6th grade type of dare. I did it...most of your husbands / sons / fathers have all done the same thing. It's a harmless thing if all they did was go in and out -- they were just dumb enough to get busted.

And as others have pointed out....the whole mentality of some here that the Mens room is nothing more then a room full of perverts exposing themselves, which is why moomy always told them to go into the girls room....could have worked wonders for their defense.

Even if they are seniors in high school, it's a stupid prank and even a day of in school suspension is just WAY too much--detention I can see, I guess, but a "stop being stupid" from the principal SHOULD be enough. :sad2:

Now, if they went in there, crawled under a stall and took a picture of a girl going to the bathroom.........
