Didn't Jim McMahon get fined heavily as a Chicago Bear for wearing controversial things on his headband back in the 80's?
Okay NFL players and owners, you have your right to wear what you want on your uniforms. I have the right to now boycott your product. I am encouraging all my friends and acquaintances in joining me on the boycott of all things NFL.

I'm confused. You are boycotting football because the players have an opinion on something? Or am I reading you wrong?

I don't think a regular business would put up with an employee stating their political or social views at the beginning of a meeting. Why should athletes be any different?

Walter Payton got in trouble for wearing a Roo's sweatband.

We're giving up on the Bears until the NFL does something with the McCaskey family and the team.

Nope. I support people's right to think and say what they believe. If you didn't object to Tebow breaking the 4th wall by bringing his religion on the field, you don't have the grounds to object to this.

If the NFL is okay with it, so am I. If we're going to hold players to the "role model" standard, than I think they should be standing up for causes they deem appropriate and showing support for the communities they play in. More power to 'em!

Would you feel differently if a pre-game brawl broke out between rival political factions among players?

Have fun with that...and might I suggest, if you ever see any of these players in person, be sure to tell them they are wrong...and have a friend video tape their reaction.

Dante Stallworth killed a man while drinking and driving.
Ray Lewis's bodyguards killed someone in a club.
Michael Vick was involved in a dogfighting ring.
Lawrence Taylor hired an underage prostitute.
Adrian Peterson whipped his son bloody.
Ray Rice punched his fiancee unconscious.
Dez Bryant hit his mother.
Brett Favre sexually harassed a female journalist.
Ben Roethlesberger may have raped several women.
O. J. Simpson probably killed his wife.

Yet protesting the death of black men by the hands of police is the straw that broke your back.

OK.

Protest on your own time. While on the field, you are representing your team.

If the league will not allow the football players to wear Beat headphone and also fine them for wearing them, then they have the capability to tell them what they can and cannot wear including the protest shirts headbands.'

Guess why players aren't allowed to wear Beats headphones?

Hint: It's not because of politics.

And on their own time they are still expected to represent their team, do charity events, etc. So when, exactly is it their "own time"?

And I would think wearing Beats might be seen as advertising, possibly for a competing sponsors, so I could totally see not allowing it, although I do think it's a bit overboard.

And as I said, if the NFL doesn't have a problem with it, then we shouldn't either.

If you are Bose, and paid a lot of money to the NFL, I doubt you'd take very kindly to a big competitor being flaunted. It seems to me, both the NFL, and NBA are chock full of whiners, this is why I don't consume their products.

What they wear is a big part of the tradition of the sports, and frankly, as a sports fan, I don't care what they believe in, who they love, what political parties they support, or their stance on other social issues. I watch sports to be entertained (Baseball and Hockey), not for a civics lesson.

When I want to learn about the issues affecting our society, I read the newspaper, watch The National on CBC, read/watch other trusted news sources.
