Boycott VMK - April 9th

I want to support you tigger. I plan on being on less anyways. But as you can see from my post it was a 50/50 split some are upset with how VMK handles its players others see no issue and suport them and were more upset like how dare I say those things.

Personally I think more believe VMK needs better customer service. that seems to be the constant thread.

But how to make that happen I have no idea. I do appreciate you trying.

The reasons for the boycott are:

1. For shutting the quest down early because of a few people who used illegal programs to complete the quest, unlike most of us who took 60+ hours to complete. This was NOT fair to those who truly worked very long and hard to try and complete the quest. Since when is asking for help on the questions considered cheating? Quoting Yavn directly "anything worth doing takes time and determination." Well why in the dickens did they pull the quest early? Sheesh, give us the time to complete it, because I know we all had the determination. Waiting for over 30 minutes to get into the Pirates Lobby was horrendous and if you were not with a group of people, then you were not allowed play.

2. Yavn had PROMISED in the newsletter that new magic was coming out the end of March. Where is it? Where is the PPR ride start? I am tired of them making promises and not coming through on them.

I fully understand, as an ADULT, that there are hiccups and not everything will come out when it is promised, but how long has the Card Game been in *basic* mode with the promise of it opening up VERY SOON

As for writing in to the "Black Hole" ... feel free do to that, but rest assured you will get a computer generated reply back that will neither actually responded to your complaint or give any kind of explanation.

Tiger! Calm down, VMK staff will soon release a basic version of the basic version of the TCG and yavn promised the full version would come out even more soon! We can also remember that yavn promised a big update in march, and we're finally going to get it.. in April, and you guessed it! A free trial for ToonTown, since I always wanted to play ToonTown! How about that latest yavn speak in which he promised to talk about new things! Well it's here and he talks about how free the game is and he also reminded us about the rules once again.. since the big warning sign never seemed to get people reading. Yavn also updated his newsletter apologizing about closing the quest early.. So we should totally forgive yavn, I mean since we all know how noncommercial and FREE VMK is!

I would boycott, but it's just too flimsy for me. It's a free game, so it's not like you're giving anything to play it.

I am not sure if I will boycott or not but that being said.......

Even if VMK is a free game, that doesnt mean they are given the right to lie (say stuff is coming out when it isnt) and treat people's comments as if they don't matter.

For example you get a gift certificate or something like that for a free sample/trial. You expect when you use your free trial that you get good customer service. Just because you arent paying doesn't mean you aren't a customer.

Like it or not Disney is making money off of VMK. How many of us have bought movies not just for the movie but because it had a disney reward in it? I know I would sway my daughter towards the disney movies all because of the code. How many of us bought stuff at Disney Land or WDW so that we could get a code for something in VMK? Would you have actually of bought that silly hat you will only wear at the parks if it wasnt for the code? Maybe but not everyone would have. So Disney is making money off of VMK even though you dont have to pay to play it.

So just because I don't pay to play VMK doesn't mean I dont deserve good customer service.

Personally we should have boycotted it last saturday the BIG QUEST DAY!.

Yes I am all for boycotting the game, even though its FREE! As long as we have it all down what exactly we are boycotting for,

There bad customer service
Promises rarely kept.
Cheaters all over, that we as a whole get punished for
There releasing of items, the timing and items they do release.

Its the principal, boycotting can make the individual feel good, as if they did something for a cause, they feel strongly about.

Also why we are boycotting, I think one of us should run out and get Yavn a calender, so he know's when march is and april....... maybe the year on it.....

I get all the points Tiger is making and I can truly empathize, been waiting for the card game myself. And yes, CAPTAIN B's quest was probably not thought through to the end.

But what I worry about is, if too many people complain or a boycott actually did happen wouldn't Disney rather shut down the game than attempt to reconcile the game to everyone's wishes. It is free, and it seems like it's probably a real hassle to deal with us players sometimes.

I just really enjoy VMK, and I would hate to see anything we did shut it down. Just saying, i know i'm new to the board, but not vmk and I wouldn't want it to go away.

Although a good idea in theroy I don't think it is going to do any good.
We get terrible customer service already.
They have been complained to time and time again.
Nothing has changed.
If 50 of you stay off for the day it is not even a drop in the bucket.
Plus you are not paying for any service where they would feel a hit.
If it was a pay to play and everyone decided to stop their membership for a month then i think someone would finally wonder what is going on.

But more like vmk will be like oh..kansas has a tornado there is no internet there today guess that explains the drop in 40 users today.

it wont make a difference. BUT Tigger I do feel ya girl....as a 33 year old mother of 2 I have never lectured my chldren as much as I feel like I have been lectured by Yavn this week..

NO WAY! This would be pretty stupid to do, come on it's a free game... stop complaining they aren't "mean" to us and if you think so you need to grow up. So what the magic you have anticipated is not out! It will gees lighten up!!

First off, whether its "stupid" or not, its not for you to say. Everyone is entitled to their opinion its called Freedom of speach.

I pretty much felt like this to during that quest, and many times before it because of other issues. But the family here at dis is just a small fraction of the vmk population unfortunately. Would it get their attention? Probably not. One thing for sure. They read these boards. They know ppl are angry and hurt and Im sure they will step up and make it right somehow. Maybe they had all good intentions with this quest, but vmk has some rotten apples that need to be pitched out of the barrel. They made it bad for all of us. Hate them, be angry at them. We should storm their vmk rooms take their rare and set fire to it on main street.

But i do agree we need to unite and give the wheels of progress some suggesstions.

Tigger I appreciate your efforts and support you in spirit. I had issues with the changes and they way it is handled. This has pretty much been business as usual. Not to mension endless promises. We just learn after 3 years not to expect to much.

I won't participate in the boycot because I feel, If I am ever ready to give it up a day for something they did, I will be ready to give it up for good. I have an unwritten agreement with VMK. They treat us bad every now and then handle, make mistakes mishandle situations and beat us up. When they do this I send them a complaint and come over here and beat them up somewhat. (Then they talk about me at staff meetings) I get over this stuff pretty quick. I am usually over it before I finish talking about it.

Incidentaly I did get a response to my contact from Shorty that I felt was not a bad response. It told me nothing but did not misidentify it. They thanked me for my feedback and said it had been forwarded. Thats as much as I can hope from them.

While I tend to agree it will be dificult to make a dent in 5000 players at any given time I wish you the best inyour endevor.

Well I'm all for it. I like others, are tired of being blamed for things I sure didn't do! I don't play a lot anymore, simply because life is hard enough and I used to VMK to get away from real life problems. I am a full grown adult and mother to 3 kids who all have accounts on vmk. As we all played longer on vmk, I was having to do their quest because they were getting harder, and also loan them money for items/magic they had to have for quests, so I got frustrated, but that's ok I dealt with it. Disney makes money!!! Why in the world does it cost 80.00 a piece per park to go to any of the parks???? As someone who lives in Orlando, I can't even afford to take my kids to Disney, so they play on VMK and they like it, but they get frustrated. I'm tired of everything being so expensive and yet credits are not easy to make. I stink at pirates so I don't play it, but I can hold my own at mansion but they took our double credits away on mansion
Anyways, I have no problem joining on the 9th. I like others doubt it will make a difference but I'm willing to give it a try!!!

I for one am tired of being the victim of others, cheaters as Yavn calls them. Look if I was at my bank to make a usual depost and it just happended to be robbed while I was there, would it be fair to put me in jail with the bank robber?? Well that is what I feel happened during the quest last weekend. They said they knew who was cheating, so why did they just stop those with a ban rather than ending the quest early and hurting those of us who were honestly trying so hard to make it through?? I agree it is free but that should not give VMK the right to abuse the innocent. For myself I was trying to get the ears for my granddaugter who has been in the hospital for a week now. I was hoping to lift her spirits but alas that won't happen now. Thanks VMK for ruining a chance for MaMa to help her grand baby feel better. Now I just hold her and pray she gets better. Boycott? yes they deserve it in my opinion. Sorry if I feel bitter but Disney is supposed to be for kids and they don't seem to care about a sick little girl. I love VMK but I love my granddaughter more. You let me down VMK when I needed you most. I just hope in the future you willl understand that we are real people and are needing a little pixie dust now and then. Someday if little granddaugher gets well I would love to take her Disneyland or WDW. Walt Disney would be dissapionted in what happened with the quest; But he would have loved my granddaughter, of that I know for sure and it warms my heart as much as holding my sweet grand baby does.

i'm happy for all you that are for this boycott/ban for the day, but it's not for me, only because i am about 2 years past feeling scorned about something VMK or a user did, shouldn't you all expect things out of the ordinary? and honestly...yea it was a hard quest...but it was b/c it had so much stuff, i mean 75,000 credits, the magics, and the umbrella among things? and realize too, the umbrella is already out for sale...it's just a matter of time before everything else comes out in one way or another. look at the dreams ears...those are easily found now via TDM. oh and the reasons for the ban...it says you were promised new magic by the end of march, but isn't that what we did get? i mean in a sense we did at least...the lightning magic was in the quest, as well as the one star TDM. so i get that you have your principles, and that's great, and i'm all for people standing up for what they believe in. so cheers to you. but i'll more than likely be on, b/c i just have learned not to get my hopes up for things, and just be happy when new items come out, b/c i remember times when we weren't getting new items for a while and everyone was freaking that it was the apocalypse. and in the past few months they've released more magic than i ever would have hoped for, so i'm happy for that. hehe. I see where everyone is going on this. And I so agree with you. VMK is supposed to be a game for people of ALL ages. They can't even provide for all of that hardly. I think we really should boycott so maybe VMK will get the idea that we really mean it.
